"Where do you think they are?" Kaden asked as we sauntered out of the house. The gang followed in suit behind us. There wasn't much of us, but enough to take down anyone who came in our way. I didn't want anyone dying on my account today, I just want my girl back.
"What are you doing here, Kaden?" I gritted out as I loaded my gun. I tucked it into my waistband and turned towards him, my eyes wide in frustration, "I'm coming with you." He said and I shook my head vigorously as I halted in my footsteps.
"You're not coming with me. This is my fight, this is long past overdue, Kaden. And now he's crossed the line. That bastard took Michelle and I can assure you guns will be blazing and I don't want you caught in the crossfire.
At this moment you're my only brother, Kaden. I already lost one mentally and now I'm gonna lose him psychically today. I can't afford to lose another one, so please stay here and wait for my phone call. If not, I-If we're not back in about thirty minutes call the cops."
His eyes widened in astonishment and I watched as he parted his lips, fishing for any words. The fact that I'm willing to include the cops in this showed him how serious it was. There was a possibility I might be going to prison today but I am not leaving that place dead.
Not without Michelle.
"I love her, Kaden. And I never got to tell her how much I loved her. The last thing I said to her was that it was over. I won't live with myself knowing that those were my last words to her. So please. . .please stay. I can't lose everyone I love today."
He sighed deeply and for a moment I feared he'd retaliate but he nodded his head in understanding and pulled me into his arms, "Be safe, brother. And bring your girl back."

"Michelle." He huffed out, almost as if he were surprised to see me. I raised the bat before me and tumbled backwards, my eyes wide in fear, "s-stay away from me." I muttered softly, preparing to swing at him if he came any closer.
He paused and flickered his eyes towards my bat before bursting into a fit of laughter. "You got Kaleb down with that thing but you won't get me down, he's not as strong as his old man here." He said as he motioned to himself.
"W-what?" I muttered in shock as I assessed him. He was dressed in a suit, a bloody battered down one as a matter of fact. His face was littered in bruises and dried up blood, much like mine. And to my surprise, the man was a carbon copy of Mason and Kaleb, like the two were merged together to create one.
"I'm Leroy. Leroy Hunter, Mason and Kaleb's father. Now we need to leave before Kaleb wakes up and your father realizes I'm gone!" He exclaimed as he motioned towards the door.
Excuse me?
Well this man definitely made some sexy babies, If Mason looks like this when we're old then I have no problem spending the rest of my life with him.
If I ever get out of here alive.
Okay, now isn't the time to joke Michelle.
"How can I trust you!? You c-can be just as psychotic. For crying out loud your son is sitting here possibly dead and you're worried about me!" I cried loudly. He sighed deeply and suddenly rushed towards me. I squealed loudly, expecting a blow, but instead, he grabbed me by the arm and tugged me out of the room.

"Your father placed a bomb in this place, it's gonna go off anytime soon. I managed to break free from my restraints last minute. I know this is confusing but you can trust me. Your father found out that I knew he was the one who ordered Kaleb to kill your sister.
I threatened to turn them into the FBI so he sent Kaleb away so no one would find him and then tricked me into thinking he'd turn himself in. When I knew for a fact he wouldn't, he threatened to kill Mason and Kaleb in order to keep me quiet.
And then recently I found out his whole plan to kill you and my sons, so I confronted him, with hostility of course and well, now I'm here. I would tell you the story more clearly but I can only be vague. K-Kaleb chose this life, if there's one thing I always taught my sons is they reap what they sow. If that's death, so be it."
I was stunned, unable to form a sentence as I peered up at him. He was dragging me by the arm down the hallway, a determined expression on his face. I knew I shouldn't trust this man but for some weird reason, I did.
Mason rarely spoke of his father, but when he did, he had two things to say about him; he was a piece of shit for abandoning him and his mom but he always remembered his father to be a man of his word. Someone with dignity, someone you could trust.
And I trusted Mason, so I trusted him.
"You're a brave girl, Michelle. You don't deserve this, I've known your father all my life, and to know that he's this heartless breaks me. I don't care if I die today, but there's no way in hell you are."
Before I could reply there was a loud bang behind us and I flinched away, ignoring the way my heart slammed against my chest rapidly in fear. "Who's there!?" The voice exclaimed loudly, followed by a chorus of gunshots.
Leroy tugged me behind a wall and pulled me down beside him. He turned towards me and fished out something from his pocket. My eyes widened when I realized it was a gun, and suddenly I was fearful again, wondering what the hell I was supposed to do with this thing.
"Take it, I'll hold him off for now. If I don't come back within a minute or if you hear gunshots, run for your life Michelle and don't look back. Shoot like a fucking mad man until you get out of this house. Go straight down this hall, take a left and then another, you'll see an opening down the hallway and a flight of stairs, it leads to the front door."
He placed the gun in my hand, his eyes never leaving mine. But I could see the fear in his and I wanted to burst into a fit of tears. How did my life end up like this? Why is this happening? "Thank you, for being part of my son's lives, Michelle."
With that, he hoisted himself up, pulled out another gun and disappeared behind the wall.
And I waited and waited, and then there was a loud bang, and another, followed by another. Tears rolled down my cheeks rapidly and it took everything in me to not sob out loudly.
But I listened to him and got up from my spot and ran like hell because my life depended on it.
I gripped the gun in my hand tightly and never looked back as I ran down the hallway. I cut left and realized that there was another long stretch, possibly leading to the other hallway before the front door.

I continued running but made the mistake of looking back even though I knew I shouldn't because the second I did I was knocked off my feet.
As I careered into the wall behind me, I clutched onto the gun tightly, fearful that it would slip out of my grasp. But when I did come in contact with the wall, the gun slid from my hand and I crashed onto the floor beneath me, whimpering in pain.
"Where are you running off too, darling?"
Weakly, I managed to pull my head up, and through my blurry vision, I could see my father towering over me, a smirk plastered on his face. "Da-" before I could muster up the strength to speak my vision darkened, and I was sucked into my worst nightmare; darkness.
•••
We toppled out of the truck. And for some reason, I knew deep down in my heart we were at the right place; my old house. This is where I grew up with my mom, dad and Kaleb. Until we were shipped off to America.
Something in my gut told me that he would bring her here. And if I get my hands on him, well, I'll make sure his death is nice and slow. "Okay, we go in, guns blazing okay? No holding back unless you see Michelle. She dies, you all die." I gritted out through my clenched teeth.
I didn't wait for a response and quickly rushed up the familiar lawn. God, the memories here were probably the best of my life, and today, they'd be my worse. "I'm coming with you," Leo exclaimed as he fell into step beside me.
"Thanks, Leo. I owe you a ton." I said before pushing the door open and stepping into the house, my gun already positioned before me, ready to fire.
To my surprise the hallway was clear, I expected to see about a dozen men waiting patiently for us but no one was here. Something's not right. "Mason, come on, we don't have all day." Leo exclaimed as he started to ascend the stairs.
The gang separated, some going into the family room, the kitchen, just clearing the perimeter. I knew he wouldn't keep her downstairs, he'd keep her somewhere that'll hurt. And most likely it's our room. I rushed up the stairs and cocked my gun, making sure that no one would jump in front of us unexpectedly.
I needed to find Michelle, if she's dead, I don't know what I'd do with myself.
We trekked down the hallway slowly, and I was beginning to think that they weren't here, that I made a mistake, until a loud grunt echoed from down the hallway, followed by a round of painful cries. I snapped my head towards Leo and gave him the signal to move forward.
We pressed our backs against the wall, close to the person grunting in pain and counted to three before springing into action, ready to blow heads off until I realized who was curled up on the floor bleeding. "D-dad?"
He snapped his head upwards and I expected him to be surprised to see me but he smiled, through all the blood and pain he smiled. "I-I knew it was a m-matter of time t-till you came." He wheezed out. My eyes flickered to the blood pouring from his stomach and I quickly fell onto my knees to examine him.
"N-no Mason, you need to find Michelle. I-I was trying to get to her after I-I got shot but I can't move any fu-further. Mandel- her father has her in your old room. Y-you need to get her and yourself out of there quickly because there's a b-bomb that can go off at any time."
Her father? Her father is the one behind this!? Then that means. . ."Where's Kaleb?" I growled lowly. He shook his head vigorously and cupped my hand in his, "find Michelle." The look on his face held no room for argument so I nodded my head quickly and motioned towards Leo.
"Take him back to the van, inform the guys about the bomb. I'm going to find my girl," I said as I pulled myself onto my feet and helped Leo pick my father up into his arms. Before leaving he flashed me a smile, "I'm proud o-of you son."
I nodded my head numbly and pivoted on my heels, unsure if I'd ever see my father again. But right now my mind was on one thing and that was Michelle.
When I made it to my room, I realized only now that the doors were all metal. With a shake of my head, I flung the door open, my gun already before my face as I sauntered into the room.
Mandel stood hovering over Michelle, a gun in his hand, his face had this crazed look and for a second I was scared. But when I saw her limp body, dangling from the chair I was consumed in rage, every ounce of intimidation and freight that was left in me was flung out the window.
I was ready to kill someone.
"Well lookey here, if it isn't Mason Hunter."
"Let her go Mandel, or I'll shoot you right here, right now." I etched closer towards him, my finger tight on the trigger, prepared to shoot him if he made a move. I expected him to point the gun at me but then when he placed it against Michelle's temple I sprung into action and fired a shot.
I watched as the bullet pierced through his hand gripping the gun and it fell to his feet. I knew I could have shot him point-blank but I wanted a fistfight, I wanted to hurt him for hurting her, his own daughter, his flesh and blood.
In a fit of rage, I propelled across the room and threw myself onto him, knocking him off his feet. We crashed to the floor with a thud and I was lucky enough to be towering over him, giving me the upper hand. I send my fist flying to his face, pounding into him in rage, with every ounce of rage I had that was built up in my body over the past few months.
I may not get to kill Kaleb but I'll surely kill him.
Although he was a rather big man, he couldn't overpower my strength and I used that to my advantage. I pressed my knee down onto his gunshot wound and wrapped one hand around his throat and the other to jab him in the face non-stop, not caring if he cried out in pain, begging for mercy.
My vision had blackened and I was surrounded by nothing but darkness. I could feel my fist moving rapidly, I could feel my hands wrapping around his neck as I picked him up and flung him across the room, but I couldn't see it, I was too consumed in rage.
I fetched my gun from my pocket and etched closer towards him as he backed into the wall, choking on his own blood, "you fucking!-" I shouted as I fired one shot into his leg. He cried out in pain and doubled over, his hand gripping his leg, -"bastard!" I fired another shot in the opposite leg and he completely fell onto his knees, clearly in a blissful state of agony.
He was now at my mercy and I smirked as I towered over him, my gun pressed between his eyes, "any last words, Mandel?" I inquired, I couldn't recognize my voice as I spoke but I could see in his eyes that he didn't fear me, nor did he fear death.
Even though he was knocking on deaths door right now. The man was sick, I should have known he was behind all of this. All the time I vowed to protect Michelle from Kaleb, I should have been protecting her from her own father.
"I'd do it again!" He cackled and I cringed in anger as he flashed me his bloodied teeth, smiling as if he had accomplished something. "Give Satan my best regards," I watched as a bullet pierced through his head and cowered back as his blood splattered on my face.
His lifeless eyes were trained behind me and I frowned as he crashed to the ground. "That's for killing my fucking sister."
I snapped my head towards the sound of that voice and gasped at the sight of Michelle standing behind me, a gun held tightly in her hand, her sight unwavering as she peered down at her father's body in disgust.
"And that's for kidnapping me!" She fired another shot and etched closer towards him, "and that's for RUINING MY LIFE!" And then she fired shot after shot until the gun clicked, signalling that she used up all the bullets.
She dropped the gun onto the floor and cackled softly, "and that's for taking away everything I love."

The Fated Series. Book #1. "A single minute without her in my arms and it felt like a lifetime." - Mateo Ramos My name is Mateo Adam Ramos. I for one am determined to continue upholding that reputation because that's in my blood. But things are never that simple, are they? Feeling and emotions got involved, and everything I thought I knew, vanished the second I met her. A soft souled, beautiful brown eyed girl who gleams with goodness found her way into my life. I shouldn't have played the good samaritan, that was my fault. I don't want to know goodness, and yet I'm drawn in like it's the light to cure my sins. This goodness has a name, and a face of salvation and I for one know I shouldn't get involved. Guess what I do? I get involved. Because even if I don't want too that's not really how fate works, is it? You don't pick and choose fates plan, you get slammed with it and good luck to your poor soul. This is my story, the kind that was written years before I was even born, and now I'm living it. Watch me make a mess of it too, because after all, I wasn't born to follow. P.S. This book is technically #1, but I have a book before this one that's about their parents. You learn more, and get a clue about their parents and why they are the way they are. Some of the conversations in this book would make more sense by knowing the past. It's not as well written, but if you can get thought it, I promise you'll love this one even more. Of course if you rather start here, then you do you! It will make sense either way! I tired to fill in all the gaps without it getting overbearing. You can always hop back to the book before this after.
