《BITTERSWEET TRAGEDY◦VIKTOR KRUM》FOUR

have your attention please?" Dumbledore shouted over the chatter in the room, bringing the focus to him and the large gold ornament he stood beside. Arabella had no idea what it was, but she guessed it must have been something valuable by the way that it glistened valiantly off the candlelight. "I'd like to say a few words."
"Eternal glory - that is what awaits the student who wins the Triwizard Tournament. To do this, this student must survive three tasks; extremely dangerous tasks. For this reason, the Ministry have imposed a new rule. To explain all this, we have the Head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement--"
Just as the man stepped into view, who Bella recognised as Bartemius Crouch Senior, a storm began to brew within the enchanted ceiling of the Great Hall. People began to scream, but the Ravenclaw just rolled her eyes. Storms never affected her; she couldn't comprehend how people could be scared of them. To her, they were not frightening at all - just endlessly fascinating.
A flash of red light flew into the air, calming the grey thundering clouds until the ceiling returned to its normal night sky scene. Mad-Eye Moody discreetly tucked his wand back into his robe pocket, looking around when students' eyes turned to him in the dark corner of the room. "Bloody hell, that's Mad-Eye Moody." Bella heard Ron exclaim from the Gryffindor table.
"Alastor Moody, the Auror?" Hermione corrected.
"He's a wizard-catcher. Half the people serving time in Azkaban are thanks to him. He's supposed to be mad as a hatter these days."
Moody hobbled down the steps, his one leg limping with the support of his cane. He glanced around the room before greeting Albus Dumbledore with a pat on the arm. "My dear old friend, thanks for coming." The Professor welcomed, a warm smile present on his face.
Mad-Eye took a long sip from a small flask bottle, wincing and shaking his head seemingly from the unpleasant taste. "What's that he's drinking?" Bella asked her friend and roommate, Deanna Quinn, who she sat beside. Out of her three roommates, Deanna was the only one that she found sufferable to be around. The other two she loathed completely; always bitching behind other people's backs, sneaking bottles of Fire Whiskey into the room, and staying up late, which would always keep Arabella awake from their obnoxiously loud laughing.

Even after the six years she had to share a room with them, she still couldn't bring herself to like them. But she was sure that the hatred was mutual.
She always thought it was a miracle that they got into Ravenclaw too, because they weren't smart at all. She was convinced that the Sorting Hat got it wrong on those two.
"I don't know, but I don't think it's pumpkin juice." Deanna replied, pushing her glasses further up her nose.
Bartemius Crouch stepped onto the stage-like platform, clearing his throat with a loud cough. "After much consideration, the Ministry has concluded that for their own safety, no student under the age of seventeen will be allowed to put forth their name to enter the Triwizard Tournament."
Shrieks of disapproval erupted the hall, including ones from Fred and George screaming: "That's rubbish! You don't know what you're doing!" This made Arabella laugh; the genuine anger on the boys' faces was hilarious to her, for some reason that she didn't even know herself.
"Silence!" Dumbledore boomed, and as the room subdued into complete quietude, he waved his wand at the strange ornament. The golden structure began to melt like hot liquid, revealing a tall and shining chalice. A sapphire flame burned brightly from the ash coals that conjured it. "Anyone who wishes to enter themselves in the Triwizard Tournament, simply write your name on a piece of parchment, and throw it in the flame before this hour on Thursday night. Do not do so lightly - if chosen, there's no turning back. The Triwizard Tournament has begun."

Arabella had took a short trip to the library in the hopes of finding an adequate book to read. She even looked in the restricted section, only to be yelled at by the librarian - Madam Pince, and proceeded to swiftly make her way out of there before she could receive a further scornful comment.
Then, she ventured to the Ravenclaw Common Room. She anticipated for somebody like Luna Lovegood to be there, because Luna always seemed to carry the best books in her opinion. To her disappointment, the younger blonde wasn't there, but sat in her place was one of Bella's vile roommates. She wondered why the other one wasn't with her - they were usually stuck to each other like glue, but she shrugged it off without acknowledging the girl's presence.

"What riddle did you have to answer this time?" She questioned, making the redhead sigh loudly. Arabella didn't want to talk to her roommate, but she didn't have the heart to say that to her face. Instead, she answered her in a monotonous voice.
"The one about fire. You know, 'feed and me and I live, give me water and I die'?" The girl sitting opposite shook her head. "Well anyway, the answer was fire. The door has asked me it several times this week so I have it memorised in my head. It was easy, really." She said, lounging into one of the royal blue armchairs.
"Oh." She murmured, shrugging before reverting her attention to her chipped nail polish.
There was a violent creaking of the iron door, and both girls turned around to see Michael Corner enter the Common room. "Arabella, Zoe." He greeted the two, returning a smile that Bella gave him. Zoe ignored him entirely, though that didn't surprise either of them. The blonde was very antisocial to people she didn't like. "Alright, then." Michael hushed, more to himself than anyone particular, as he placed himself in front of the fireplace reading from a large Potions book.
"Where's Erin?" Arabella asked, referring to her other roommate of whom she also despised. Where the girl was or what she was doing didn't really matter to the redhead; she was just curious since it was unusual for Zoe Rosenkrands and Erin Martell to be apart.
"She's studying with Anthony Goldstein." Zoe replied flatly.
"Ah, right." Bella scoffed. Despite hating her guts, she knew Erin well enough to know that her so-called studying would most likely be filled with intimate exchanges and constant making out. Anthony was one of the Ravenclaw prefects, and if he acted anything like Percy Weasley did in his time at Hogwarts, she was surprised to hear that the blonde boy was being so devious. Most prefects she had come across were overly obedient to the school rules and certainly very strict about them - clearly Anthony was an exception.
"I don't know what she sees in him, to be honest."
"She doesn't, Zoe. She's using him as another excuse to say that she's kissed like fifty boys."
Zoe arose from her seat in anger, a prominent scowl on her face and her arms crossed over her chest. "Don't you dare talk about my friend like that!"
Bella just laughed. She always laughed when she was angry, almost as if she was trying to cover up the boiling rage inside of her stomach. "It's pathetic, really. And so are you."
The girl left the room, leaving her roommate stood there dumbfounded. She realised that when it came to going up the dorm later that night, it would make things incredibly awkward. She was just glad she took her anger out on somebody like Zoe - somebody she loathed. If it was anyone else besides her two annoying roommates, she would've felt extremely guilty. But she didn't.
Bella was a volcano, who had waited until that night to erupt.
Only difference was, the destruction that she caused was much larger than expected.
This is a short chapter but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I'm just glad I finally got to introduce Bella's roommates because the idea has been in my head for ages !!
