《Sure Thing, Commander ✔︎》14

Ahsoka picked up Rex, bridal holding him in her arms. She gasped, Rex was kriffing heavy. Usually Ahsoka was strong, but she used most of her energy to heal Rex and she was very weak. It was extremely hard to carry Rex, especially since he was so big compared to Ahsoka. Once she got a good grip on him, Ahsoka walked as fast as she could off the ship.
"Help!" she screamed.
No one answered. Only the sounds of animals and the whistling wind could be heard. Ahsoka stumbled farther from the ship. But where was she going? She had no idea. She just shuffled as quickly as she could, searching for someone, anyone that could help Rex.
"Please!" she cried, "My friend needs help!"
Suddenly her foot caught against a rock and she crashed to the ground. Rex fell out of her arms next to her, and Ahsoka held her breath hoping she hadn't hurt the clone anymore. She looked back at the ship to see a lot more damage than she expected.
The ship itself was on fire, charred, and just completely destroyed. Parts of the ship were hanging by what seemed like a single wire, and every other second sparks flew of various places. The windshield was shattered, along with all the windows. Ahsoka sighed, they weren't getting off this planet for a while.
Suddenly something rustled in the bushes and Ahsoka whirled around, her blaster in hand. She put herself in front of Rex, if they wanted him they would have to get through her.
"I'm not gonna hurt you" a familiar voice said, "I thought you knew me better"
A boy with messy brown hair and blue eyes stepped out. He was holding his hands out, a smirk on his face.
"Lux?" Ahsoka sighed in relief.
"Ahsoka" Lux smiled, "What are you doing here?"
"Does that explain it?" Ahsoka chuckled nodding to their ship.
"I'm afraid it does," Lux laughed. "It's so good to see you" he began, going in for a hug.
Ahsoka flinched away and Lux backed up, clearly embarrassed.

"Oh um s-sorry" he stammered.
"It's fine" Ahsoka muttered, "I need your help"
"With what?" Lux asked.
"My friend, Rex," Ahsoka said, kneeling beside Rex, "He's hurt. He needs medical attention" "And it looks like we're going to be here awhile"
Lux cocked his head at Rex, "So it seems"
"Do you think you can help him?" Ahsoka questioned hopefully.
"I can't" Lux said, "But I know someone who can. There's a camp not too far from here, I'm staying there only temporarily." "If we get Rex there someone could surely help him"
"Thanks for everything Lux," Ahsoka said with a soft smile.
"Anything for you Ahsoka" Lux replied.
Ahsoka coughed out of awkwardness and began to pick Rex back up.
"Here let me help," Lux rushed in.
He put one of Rex's arms around his neck and pulled Rex to his feet. Ahsoka got Rex's other arm and Lux led the way to his camp. Ahsoka had mixed feelings about meeting Lux. She hadn't expected to see him again. She didn't really want to see him again. To be honest, she was sad when they parted last but got over it quickly. He was a friend, only a friend. A memory of them kissing came flooding back and Ahsoka shoved it away. She just wanted to forget that mishap. It was just to keep their cover, that's all it was. Rex would be furious if he found out. She was planning on telling him, Ahsoka just needed the perfect timing.
While she was walking with him, Ahsoka noticed Lux staring at her. She tried to ignore it but it got to a point where it made Ahsoka very uncomfortable. She shook it off and trudged forward, trying her hardest not to look in Lux's direction.
"Here we are," Lux grunted.
They came upon several large tents with not that many people bustling in and out of them. There were some children, but most of the people were either teenagers or older. It was pretty quiet with the occasional chatter, and the tents were under several large trees with purple leaves.

Lux led Ahsoka to a larger tent with two younger boys guarding the entrance. Lux nodded to them and the boys let them pass. Inside, the tent was full of cots and medical equipment. There were only a couple patients but it was busy nonetheless. Lux and Ahsoka gently laid Rex on one of the cots.
"We need a medic!" Lux called.
A woman with auburn frizzy hair pulled back into a ponytail, and a tired look dashed over. She began to examine Rex and jot something down on her clipboard. Ahsoka stayed near Rex, she didn't want to leave him. Not when he was in this condition.
"He's gonna be okay" Lux reassured her.
Ahsoka bit her lip and looked at Rex again. She didn't want to leave him, but she knew there were things that needed to be done. Like finding a new ship, or fixing the old one. He would be okay, she shouldn't worry he was Rex. Lux nodded Ahsoka over and Ahsoka hesitated before walking over to him. They exited and began to wander through the maze tents.
"What is this place?" Ahsoka asked, looking around.
"It's kinda like a refugee for people who have lost their homes" Lux explained, "Ever since the Separatists arrived they have torn this planet apart. These camps are to help people in need"
"Wow, was this all your idea?" Ahsoka asked.
"Eh mostly, I had help though" Lux bragged.
"That's amazing" Ahsoka gasped, "I feel terrible for everyone that's been affected by the separatists" "I tried so hard to help them when I was a Jedi. I just wish I could have done more"
"I'm sure you did everything you could" Lux agreed, "Everything has changed so much. Now the Separatists call themselves the Galactic Empire"
Ahsoka shivered at the thought. She didn't want to be reminded about what had happened since her and Rex had been away. She walked out from the tents to the edge of the plateau where the refugee was. The sun was just setting, and the rays mixing with the sky made a breathtaking sunset. Ahsoka sat down on the edge, letting her feets dangle above the fatal drop. A gentle breeze played with her lekku and Ahsoka closed her eyes feeling at peace.
"Careful" Lux blurted out.
Ahsoka snorted, "I think I'll be fine"
"Just don't want you getting hurt" he replied moving his hand over her own.
Ahsoka went stiff and quickly pulled her hand out from under Lux's. She cleared her throat and focused on the sunset, rubbing her arms in discomfort.
"Ahsoka I can't tell you how much I've missed you" Lux started, "I've thought about you everyday since you left"
"Uh- That's sweet" she sputtered, unsure of how to respond.
"I'm so glad I get to see you again," Lux said.
"I'm glad I get to see you again too" Ahsoka mumbled, eyes darting everywhere but where Lux was.
"Ahsoka I've been meaning to tell you something for awhile now..." Lux started, fidgeting with his gloves nervously.
Oh no. This was it. Ahsoka felt the discomfort creep over her like little bugs. She clenched her jaw and tried not to show her fear.
"Yeah?" she replied.
"This is really hard for me to say" Lux said, "But I need to tell you"
Ahsoka began to breathe quickly. She knew what he was going to say, and she didn't want to accept it. She didn't want to hear it. She cared for Rex, not Lux.
"I um-..." Lux stalled, rubbing the back of his neck.
"Uh huh?" Ahsoka said, trying to get it over with.
All of the sudden Lux leaned in and kissed Ahsoka. Ahsoka panicked and pushed him off her. He looked at her with confusion then tried to kiss her again. Ahsoka scooted away from him and dodged the kiss once more.
"Lux what in the-" she started, "What are you doing?"
"Ahsoka?" Lux sputtered, "B-b-but I thought-"
Ahsoka heard footsteps behind her and looked back. It was Rex. She stifled a yelp of terror, while still relieved he was okay.
"Ahsoka" Rex growled, "Who is he?"

About the Author This is my first novel or any attempt to write something so I'm pretty much a newbie trying to pen down the fantasies rolling in my mind. English isn't my First language so brace yourself for some grammatic potholes. But I'm genuinely working on improving my English but it won't be happening overnight as it's a process, I guess. (for the time being, I'm trying to make it readable with some Grammar checking software) Moreover, I wish to improve my writing skills as the story grows and readers help in spotting mistakes or critics might turn it into a reality.

I am not professionally trained as a writer but I have tried my best to teach myself and make the chapters as clean as possible. I believe I have reached a point where my limited skills cannot improve the work or make any more corrections. It is very difficult to show this work, but if I do not, I fear I will never improve and learn. So here it is. To anyone who lends the time to read all of this and any of my chapters. Thank you.
