One week later ...

"Hungry Papa" Owen whined. I lifted my head sniffing the air, it was a close call, we nearly ran into a group of rogues. Allen and I had to get away, they're dangerous and we don't stand a chance against them even when they're at their breaking point, had pups to care for and not risking my life. I looked to my side seeing Allen sleeping, it's been a week since Evan's birth. It took time for his wounds to heal, he was beaten badly and I tried my best to clean wounds before it becomes infected.

I tried my best to hunt, manage to catch two hares in the process, unfortunately, it wasn't enough to last over two days. I couldn't catch a deer, I wasn't experienced enough to do so let alone with a weak body. I was weak and powerless against other wolves, I couldn't defend myself and save my brother from them. How am I suppose to support my family when I cannot support myself?

"Did it stop raining?" asked Allen. He gently rose from the ground rubbing his tired eyes.

"It won't be long for it to rain again, I am going hunting again," I said. Allen held Evan in his arms along with Abby as they both sleep peacefully. The whole ordeal became exhausting emotionally and physically for our pups.

"Papa is going hunting again, I want you to be a good boy and watch over them for me," I said. I hug him one more time before leaving, I need to find a herd of deer otherwise we'll starve.

I ran as fast as I could deep into the woods, I looked around sniffing the air until I saw a baby deer next to its mother. I lay low hidden in the bushes crawling slowly towards them. The mother raises its head causing me to stop instantly, she then went back eating grass. Within seconds I charge towards the baby biting my canines deep into its neck. The mother tries to defend her baby and I growled at her making her run away abandoning her baby. I felt bad killing the baby seeing how frightened she is, I had to do this in order to survive and feed our pups. Making hard decisions is part of our life now, there's no point ignoring it.

"It is not much but it will do for now, found a small herd not far from here, " I said. I lay the carcass on the ground, it was enough for the pups to feed.

"I can go hunting while you rest, I've rested enough and cannot allow you do all the work," said Allen

"A week isn't enough for you Allen, you have given birth and need more than a weeks rest," I replied

"Right now we need to find proper shelter, at this rate we are at risk becoming ill," I said. I don't what to do or where to go, either way, the outcome is slim for our safety. The next morning we begin our journey to our new home and hopefully far away from danger.
