Red x Green

"Pidgeot, use gust!" Green motioned towards his Pokemon, heaving deep breaths as the battle got more intense. The cold snowy air burned his lungs as he gasped for breath, like small icy needles. The opposing trainer, with a blank stare, gestured towards his Pikachu, who easily dodged and let out a thunderbolt, taking down the large bird.

Green called his Pokemon back and stomped over to the trainer. "What the hell, Red? We've been training for the same amount of time, how do you still beat me?!" he shouted in frustration. Red silently shrugged and picked up his Pikachu, beginning to play with it. "It's probably all the work I have at the gym," Green grunted, "It has been six years since I became a gym leader. I'll try to fit in some more training in between challengers." he sighed.

"Well then, smell ya later, loser." Green waved with a laugh as he trudged away in the snow. Red's ruby eyes followed his figure until he was out of sight, before he turned and headed back to the cave. He sat down and stared blankly at the wall. It was always like this. Red would be lonely up on the mountain, and when he was lonliest Green happened to show up for a battle. Only to leave Red to feel lonely once more.

He knew Green only climbed up the mountain to fight him and redeem the title as champion, but he always wished that Green had other motives. It would be nice if one day Green travelled up here just to see him. He knew that would never be the case though, so he had to train hard. If he kept beating Green, he would keep coming back. He couldn't let Green win, because the day Green won would most likely be the last day Green would visit Mt. Silver. Red cringed at the thought, burying his head in his knees in a fetal position.

He heard the winds outside start to pick up, it wasn't uncommon for the weather to fluctuate greatly from time to time on Mt. Silver so he thought nothing of it. Until he remembered that Green had just recently left, meaning that he was out there in that storm. The realization hit Red and he jumped up and ran out of the cave. He released Charizard from its Pokéball and hopped on its back. Luckily his Charizard was used to the strong winds, but he knew Green's Pidgeot wasnt.

As Charizard flew, Red searched the side of the mountain frantically for the other teen. His eyes darted back and forth. Then, he spotted a hint of brown near one cliff. Charizard zoomed down and Red leaned over, ready to grab his rival. Red's hand caught Green's arm and he pulled him up and onto Charizard. Green had seemingly passed out so Red ordered Charizard back to the cave before the winds got really bad.

Red slid off his jacket and placed it over Green. He had already started a fire and placed Green next to it to keep him warm. Red himself was starting to get cold, he was used to mountain temperatures but with the oncoming blizzard, the temperature was dropping fast. He sat near the fire blowing on his hands in an attempt to heat them up.

He heard a faint grunting noise, and looked to his left to see Green sitting up slowly clutching his head, "Damn that hurts like hell," Green scoffed. Red shot him a look. "What? Like you don't cuss, sometimes," Green replied to his look. Green moved his arms and found the jacket that was draped over him. He facepalmed, "Red, are you seriously only wearing a tank top in a freezing cave?" he asked. Red didn't answer he just kept looking at the fire. "It's bad enough that you wear a short sleeve jacket. Here, take it back." the brunette handed the jacket back. Red took it and slipped it on.

A comfortable silence followed, neither said anything, not that Red would be the one to break the silence anyway. Red felt unusually happy. That empty feeling in his chest long gone as he sat next to his rival. He felt heat rising into his cheeks and he tried to push it down. It didn't help that his jacket now smelled of the gym leader. He glanced over and found Green looking at him, but he quickly turned away.

Why did Green have to be the one he liked? He could've liked someone else like Erika or Hibiki, who already looked at him like a god, but he had to choose this dumb, idiotic, handsome, thoughtful, caring, jerkface. Red hated himself for it sometimes. He needed to get the thought off his mind before Green suspected anything.

Red stood up and stole a brief glance toward his friend before clamoring into "bed", it was really just a small blanket and a pillow. "Goin' to bed?" Green asked. Red just nodded then laid down. "You wouldn't happen to have another blanket and pillow would you? Hitting the hay sounds pretty nice right now." Green questioned. Red's eyed shot open and he sat up as he heard these words. He hadn't even thought of that. After six years on a mountain alone, you don't really think about catering to others needs.

"Uh, it's fine if you dont. I've slept in worse places, this is fine." Green tried to reassure Red, but he was already out of the blanket gesturing for Green to take it instead. They sat there bickering for a while until Red for once spoke up, "We could share..." Red squeaked out, his voice hoarse from disuse. It was so quiet that Green had almost missed it, and his breath caught in his throat. "W-what...?" Green's voice was shaky and quiet, in fear of drowning out Red's voice again.

Red cleared his throat then spoke again, not much louder than before but it was progress, "We could share? We're both cold anyway." he kept his sentences short, feeling akward having talked at all. Green was still dazed, but he nodded laying down with the raven haired boy. Red already noticed a creeping sense of warmth as soon as Green pulled the blanket over both of them, aside from the blush that was a apparent on his face.

The gym leader breathed out heavily and visibly relaxed, unintentionally snuggling closer to Red for warmth. Green was going to be the death of him. Not only was the close proximity messing with him but now Green was snuggling next to him. How was going to survive this?

They were both silent. So silent that Red had begun to think that the man next to him had drifted off into sleep, until he spoke, "Could you, yknow, talk some more? Don't get the wrong idea, it's just been a while since you've actually talked to me and- gah whatever..." he grumbled. His rivals attempts to get him to talk made Red giggle, "Okay." he said. Green stared in awe and brought his hands up to Red's cheeks. Red looked at him questioningly. Green was about to pull back and retort with something along the lines of, 'Your face looked warm and my hands were cold, loser! That's all!' but he stopped when Red placed his hands over his own.

Red's heart stopped when he saw Green's blush. The thought he'd been wanting to believe ran through his mind. Without pausing to think about the consiquences, the silent man leaned over and brushed his lips against the brunette's ever so lightly. He was terrified. He felt like his heart was going to explode. Does he continue? Or say it was an accident?

He felt the gym leader's lips press firmer into his own. He was sure he hadn't moved further forward, so that meant... Green had kissed him, on his own. All thoughts slid from his mind as he and Green reveled in the warmth of each other, not stopping until the need for air had grown too much.

Both stared at each other wide eyed, gasping for breath. "I thought you only needed me to get stronger." Red confessed, regret passing through his eyes, only for a second before Green pulled him into his arms and buried his face in his hair. "Despite popular belief, Red, I'm not the asshole I was six years ago." he started before Red gave him a sarcastic look. "Okay so maybe I'm still a little bit of a jerkwad, but I've gotten better. I wouldn't spend this much time with you if I didn't care." he finished.

The both sat up and stared each other in the eyes. Green was at a loss for words. "Crap. How am I supposed to keep it cool when you smile like that, loser." He blushed and averted his gaze, because Red had just given the biggest, most beautiful grin that Green thinks he's ever seen.
