A few weeks go by. Wilbur finds himself spending a lot of his spare time talking to Y/n. She made him happy, plus she never seemed to mind the nonsense that came from him from time to time.
The two of them hung out often. It had started with him just showing her around the city and meeting up at various places. But after a while, Y/n invited him over to dinner at her place one night. They began hanging out at each other's apartments after that.
He grabs his coat off of a hook near the door before leaving his own apartment. It was rainy outside, but some of the clouds were finally beginning to part to let through sunlight.
They had planned another lunch meetup. Y/n had finished her work for the week, and Wilbur wasn't planning on anymore music work for a couple of more days. He drives over to her apartment building and parks outside, then sends her a text that he had arrived.
However, after 15 minutes of nothing, he begins to worry a bit. Wilbur calls her twice; no answer.
He gets out of his car and walks into the building. It was chilly in the lobby, but not so bad once he got to her floor. Y/n's apartment was on the far corner of her level from the elevator. It actually had a decent view of the city.
Wilbur knocks on her door a could of times, but just like with his calls, he doesn't get and answer.
Come on Y/n...where are you...?
He hesitantly uses the spare key hidden behind the wall decoration on her door. Stepping inside the apartment, he finds that it's dark from the curtains being drawn.
Y/n was curled up and asleep on the couch, covered in a light blanket. Wilbur rolls his eyes in amusement before pulling open the living room curtains.
"Wakey wakey Y/n!" He muses while Y/n lets out a whine of protest. "The sun is coming out, the sea breeze is blowing, and we have lots to do!"
"Wilbur..." She mumbles softly while covering her face with her hands. "Stop..."
"Aw come on-"
"Wil please close the curtains..." Her voice sounds hoarse and choked all of a sudden. Wilbur stops a moment before hastily closing the curtains again and walking over to her.
"Hey...Are you okay?" He asks more quietly than before.
"No..." Y/n whimpers. "Everything hurts..."
Wilbur takes one of her hands and moves it away from her face. Her skin is pale, but also flushed red with what looked like a fever.
"You're sick," He points out.
"I'm dying...It feels like someone stabbed me in the stomach..." She lets out a short laugh before grimacing in pain. "What time is it...?"

"Almost noon, but you should be in bed," Wilbur tells her.
"Too far away..." A few tears begin welling up in her eyes. "It hurts..."
He sighs softly while putting his hand on her shoulder. "I'll help you, come on,"
"Okay..."
Wilbur helps her to her feet, making sure to hold onto her arm to keep her up. Y/n sways a little at first, but remains upright nonetheless with him holding onto her.
"Are you okay?" He asks worriedly. She nods a little as she squeezes her eyes shut.
"Y-Yeah..."
Y/n basically collapses onto her bed, letting out a pained breath as she does. Her body shivers as she curls up onto her side. Wilbur pulls a blanket up to her shoulders.
"I'll be right back," He tells her, getting another small nod in response.
He returns to the kitchen and grabs a Tylenol for her fever, but doesn't find anything that would help with nausea. So he gets her a glass of water and goes to head back. However, Y/n, rushes past him just as he enters the doorway, suddenly on her feet again.
Wilbur quickly follows her to the bathroom, where she double over the toilet and promptly throws up. After setting the glass and pill aside, he kneels down beside her to hold her hair back out of her face until the vomiting passes.
"Deep breaths Y/n," He mumbles as she struggles to catch her breath afterward. His hand simultaneously reaches up to the bathroom counter where the glass of water is sitting. He hands her the cup and helps her lean up against the wall behind them.
"T-Thank you..." She croaks out, her hands shaking as she takes the water from him.
"Of course," Wilbur pulls his jacket-sleeve up past his hand to dab a few of the tears away from her face. "I brought you a Tylenol too, you should take it with the water,"
Y/n pauses from her drinking, though only to take the pill he gives her. As she slowly drinks the rest of the water, she leans against his arm.
Wilbur carefully wraps the arm around her, not wanting to make her uncomfortable at all. But she doesn't seem to mind. Y/n adjusts herself to curl up against him more comfortably after a moment.
When she finishes the water, he sets the glass back down on the counter nearby.
"C-Can we stay here for a minute...?" Y/n murmurs quietly, her voice a little clearer now.
"Sure," Wilbur smiles at her a little, and with that they fall into a long period of silence. He rubs her arm lightly in small, circular motions in an effort to try and ease the discomfort that she's in. And, after a little while, her body relaxes ever-so slightly.
The tension that had been in the air a few moments ago dissipates. The moment between them is lighthearted even though no words are spoken. However, Wilbur soon feels her shivering, presumably from the cold bathroom floor tiles beneath them.

"Okay, back to bed," He mutters to her.
"No...you're comfy..." She replies half-asleep.
Wilbur smiles softly. "I'll sit with you back in your room,"
Y/n lifts her head from his chest and rubs one of her eyes before letting out a small "okay".
Just like before, Wilbur helps her stumble back to her bedroom. He leaves Y/n alone briefly to get the small trash can from her office in case she needed to throw up again. It is placed back down on the floor beside her night stand.
He then sits in bed with her, leaning his back against the headboard. Y/n curls up next to him with her head resting in his lap.
"Thank you..." She mumbles drowsily.
"Get some sleep, N/n," Wilbur replies. "You seem like you need it,"
Y/n hums a little bit in response before drifting off.
-
Some time later, unaware that he had drifted off as well, Wilbur wakes up from a light doze. He glances at the time on his phone. It was only 3 o'clock in the afternoon.
Y/n is still asleep beside him. It didn't even look like she had moved in the few hours that she had been asleep.
Wilbur smiles softly at the sight of her peaceful expression. His hand carefully brushes a few strands of hair from her face. Y/n stirs slightly, but just hides her face in the blanket as if she was somehow embarrassed.
Cute...
He takes his phone back and scrolls through Twitter for a while. Unnoticed by him, Y/n lifts her head after a few minutes..
"Who got cancelled...?" She asks in a quiet, hoarse voice.
Wilbur smiles a little at her. "No one that I know of, but Schlatt's probably going through more controversy again,"
Y/n lets out a small laugh before putting her head back down in his lap again. She then curls herself up into a tighter ball, shivering slightly. Wilbur places one of his hands on her arm, rubbing it gently in comfort.
"How are you feeling?" He continues.
"Cold...but a little better..." She replies groggily. "What time is it...?"
"Just past 3," Wilbur tells her. "Are you hungry?"
Y/n pauses a moment to think. "Sort of..."
"I'll get you something," He shifts slightly in a motion to get out of the bed, but her hands grip onto his pant leg to prevent him from leaving. "Y/n you've gotta let me up though,"
"Mm...no," She hums. "You're comfy,"
"Don't you want something to eat though?"
"It's not worth it," Y/n whines. "Stay hereeee..."
"I'll be quick I promise," Wilbur assures her with a small laugh. "You won't even know I'm gone,"
Despite her protesting, he gets out of the bed and leaves to get something from the kitchen. Wilbur returns with a couple of slices of toast a couple of minutes later. Y/n is sitting up in bed by then with her phone.
"Thanks..." She smiles and takes the plate from him. "Do you want one? I know you haven't eaten yet,"
"I"m fine, don't worry about me," Wilbur says, despite in fact being hungry. He then places his hand flat against her forehead. "You've still got a bit of a fever. Are you still feeling nauseous?"
"Not as much as before," Y/n tells him after taking a bite of toast. "I still feel like I could sleep for a whole month though,"
"And you should be sleeping," He sits back beside her again. "It will make you feel better,"
"Well that's good to know, Dr. Soot," She gives him a teasing nudge in the side as she speaks. "Thank you for your exceptional medical advice,"
"It's my pleasure," Wilbur chuckles.
Y/n smiles at him briefly before slapping a hand over her mouth, her expression twisting to one of discomfort. Wilbur quickly grabs the trash can off of the floor nearby and passes it to her just before she throws up again. He once again holds back her hair until she finishes.
He trades the trash can afterward with her for a glass of water. "Drink this. I'll be right back okay?"
After discarding the plastic bag trash bag from the bin and grabbing an extra blanket from the linen closet, Wilbur walks back into the bedroom yet again. Y/n has set the glass on the nightstand and now is curled up again in a ball on her side.
"N/n...?" He kneels down on the floor beside the bed to look at her at eye-level. "Hey hey, look at me. Are you okay...?"
"I-It hurts, Wilbur..." Although a blanket is pulled up over her face, it's obvious from her voice that she's crying. "E-Everything hurts..."
Wilbur nods. He puts the extra blanket over her before sitting beside her again. Y/n sits up beside him to curl up there instead, with her head laying on his upper chest. He drapes an arm around her shoulders.
"It's gonna be okay," He whispers to her as she struggles to stifle her sobs. "Focus on me okay? You'll be fine,"
She weakly clutches his t-shirt and gives a small nod. "D-Don't leave..."
"I'm not going anywhere," Wilbur soothes. "I'm staying right here with you,"
"Thank you..."
