Pain and aching surged through my body, new spasms of agony began wherever the jagged spikes of the barbed wire pierced my skin; the knowledge that I couldn't move or more pain would erupt through my body eradicated my last few wisps of hope of survival. A trail of blood ran down the side of my face and my hair stuck to my face from the sweat. The pounding behind my ears muffled the screams and cries around me yelled at me to get up. Despite the pain, a hesitant laugh escaped my lips, how can I run? If you know how I can escape, do share the knowledge with me.

A piercing silence broke up the atmosphere like a lightning bolt through the storm as heavy working boots headed towards me, my heart pounded behind my chest. The boots stopped right in front of my face and the man in dusty dull uniform knelt down beside me and pointed the barrel of his gun to my temple. I stared up at him; my tears blurred my sight as I looked into his merciless and heartless eyes. I looked away and swallowed the cry for help I couldn't believe I had even considered doing.

Taking in my last breath, I looked around as much as possible without moving, taking in the surroundings and considered if I'd rather this happen; two walls, graffiti covered, barbed wire on either side of each wall with a huge gap between, the death strip, guards littered at points of the wall, all carrying guns to shoot those trying to cross. As the gun pressed harder to my skull, I sucked in a deep breath, clenching my eyes shut.

"Goodbye. I wish-"
