The darkness was suffocating. Thick black stifling ones senses leaving them blind, deaf and helpless. The smell of vomit contaminated the air, mixed with the odours of urine and blood. It wormed it's way into your throat and burned your eyes making you taste the salt of tears.

The only sound were the low moans of pain. They echoed around the room and out through the thin door. On the floor, a body convulsed. Spindly thin limbs twitching against the stone floor as fingers clawed the walls. Spasms racked the young body, sending the joints jerking as fire ignited his veins.

There was so much pain. It evaporated his blood, melted his bones. The fire seemed never ending. Unable to stop himself from screaming a thousand agonies into the air. But they only echoed back as laughter. Hands gripping his hair, he howled.

It seemed like an eternity, stuck in his endless cycle of screams and echoed laughs. Eventually, the blazing fire began to die. It receded back through his veins and along his muscles. And when the boy woke up it was to explicable hunger and no knowledge of who he was.
