Hello and welcome to the next cycle of the Lost Dreams Book Club!
We are ready to get started with the new cycle and we hope you are, too! Below you will find this week's groups. If we haven't found a group for you yet, you are on the waitlist. We'll make sure to group you up as soon as we can.
Note: we are always looking for members. If you have any friends that might be interested, please don't hesitate to direct them our way!
To make sure everything runs smoothly, here is a quick overview of what you'll need to do:
- The assignment is to read 3 chapters of each partner's book over the next 2 weeks. The deadline for this is December 14th. The next update will be the next Sunday; December 15th.
- Remember to give the best feedback you can. Be specific.
- When you've finished your assignment, report to us with what you've read in this chapter. This should look a bit like this: Three chapters read of Speaker's Way; last chapter read: chapter 24, and three chapters read of The Root of Magic; last chapter read: chapter 24.
- If your partner goes above and beyond, please let us know. We have a nomination system in place for members who do really well.
- If you have any questions or concerns, don't hesitate to contact us.
- If you want to read more than the required 6 chapters per 2 weeks, talk to your partners to see if they want this too. If one of you has a book that's shorter than the others', see if you can fix this by letting your partners read a second book of yours once they finish the first one.

I think all of us have thought about what we would do in case of sudden Zombie apocolypse at least once.Acquiring a chainsaw and a team to get your back is a no brainer, but what do you do in case of sudden reincarnation?Not only that but in an all too familiar setting too...----This story should be a rather interesting journey for most, not the usual level up simulator that many Xianxia stories tend to be.I tried to create a very real personality of the Main character with quite a few flaws so don't expect him to always be right.A quick warning but 99% of the story will be held directly inside the MC's head and he tends to break the 4th wall very frequently, so don't be surprised.MATURE WARNING!This story has cursing, delicate subjects that may or may not offend people like the idea of slavery for example, descriptions of gore and death as well as erotic scenes!You have been warned!

A World With or Without Aliens
Nothing matters. It's not my opinion, it's a scientific fact. This is neither good nor bad, it just... is. I watched my entire country burn, fried on a patriotic pan after some jerk fired a bunch of nukes at the docile fleet of alien ships hovering over us. Who gave this moron such power? I don't know. Everyone involved is most likely dead by now. As for me, I can't die. I feel pain like a normal person would (I think), but no matter how terrible the conditions, I will never die or pass out. Fortunately, a lot of alien technology survived its crash to Earth, so I get to spend some time playing with it until Mr. Author gets bored and decides to screw up my life. Beware, this has a "harem" tag. If you haven't figured it out yet, I'm the main character and am therefore subject to this novel's timeline. While this bars me from the sweet ignorance of Chapter 1's me, it does have other perks... for example, I can tell you that heroine number one is personally responsible for kil-!? H-hey, back off! I'm your character, so if you didn't want me to be like this, then you should've written me differently! Randomguy here! In all seriousness, this novel is meant to explore the concept of nihilism as a post-apocalyptic/supernatural-scifi/satire told from a nihilistic introvert's first-person perspective. As you heard from my unsettled main character, each heroine is going to be a different type of horrifying socio/psychopath with dark motives and dangerous abilities (most of which are psychological). Why would I do something like this? Because I am, in reality, a nihilist who is often frustrated by weird things, like unrealistically dramatic stories, the industrialization of art (specifically music), and people who think swimming in brown creekwater for five hours is a "fun" activity. Don't get me wrong, neither me nor my character are depressed, we're just malcontents who make a lot of nerd references. I feel like the true essence of an "everything is worthless" perspective is lost on most pop-culture figures. The closest character I can think of at the moment is Rick from Rick and Morty, who is a drunk, angry nihilist that experienced tremendous loss. I, personally, find this belligerent state of mind to be very relatable, and have incorperated it into every chapter's introduction. Here, the main character talks directly to the reader (and me), shamelessly complaining about some semi-relevant facet of society, which probably doesn't make much sense... it's not really supposed to, though. These "angry nihilist" moments are just a peak into the main character's everyday existence, and also act as miniature rage-journals for me. It will sometimes take a subjectively 'positive' turn, but not very often. This is because reality isn't good or bad, "it just... is". I will eventually bring it full-circle to optimistic nihilism, since that seems to be a more practical way to live (and by "practical", I mean "doesn't create mental health issues"). It is, of course, a satire. I did this because most unnecessarily emotional moments or people usually make me feel kind of awkward, so I decided to mock them. That is, I plan to mock the characteristics about them I don't like in characters based solely off said characteristics. Thanks for reading, and I hope you enjoy my story!

This is my Mother Sharon Bouriaque's work. She passed away in 2003. I loved reading my mother's work and she got me into writing. So I'm putting this out there with full credit to her. I have made some modification to technology since there has been a lot of changes to technology from when she wrote this until now. But other than that and a few very basic edits the work is hers. Jeff Carlisle despises the alien race that has colonized his world and inter-married with some of Earth’s people. Earth’s governments are working to get rid of the Thrans when they learn that something much worse is headed Earth’s way---an invasion fleet of RiaZan. The savage spiderlike race who harvests human types for food. The government leaders are terrified. Earth has no workable defense against ANY invaders from space. However, the Thrans do. They respond to the threat of invasion with an astounding move. They remove the psi-damper from all the people and activate the Scorpion Forces, The psionic warrior who are the elite of the Thran Military units. The Thran’s must also contact a certain youth whom they’ve kept hidden. They must activate the legendary Gold leader, and Jeff Carlisle’s life changes forever when he discovers he is the long-prophesied psionic warrior the Thran’s been hiding.

Due to a certain conflict, I made a deal that would take me to a magic academy. Will that curse, no, will my destiny rise again, or will I fight against it?
