"Easy girl," Curt shouted. Then to Petra "I hope you won't mind aiding in a bit of violence here miss" he said as he jumped down from the cart and drew a sword.

The young man was still yelling. It seemed his strategy was dodge around trees while not actually running effectively farther away.

Curt, with a mighty yell quite unlike the young man's charged at the owlbear and swiped with his sword across the her flank. The owlbear turned to him and howled, more annoyed than hurt then turned back to Lark.

Petrianna took a breath, clenched and flexed her hands, stood up on the cart and began to roll her fingers through air. As she did so little embers flew from the fire ball to singe the giant owlbear's fur.

The owlbear became confused and tried to swipe away at the embers. Lark took this opportunity to try and stab the bear in the foot with his dagger. This was an ill fated idea. The owlbear roared with pain and then with her injured paw swiped and then tossed him back through the air so that he collided with a tree and fell to the ground with a thud.

Curt shouted again to keep the bears attention. Petra quickly got down from the cart and ran over to Lark. He was still breathing. She faced toward her fireball again and sent more little sparks toward the bear. The bear roared again and ran away to escape the stinging embers and protect her cubs from the same.

"See violence isn't so bad!" Curt said as he sheathed his sword.

Bethany mooed.

Petra looked back to Lark who was now groaning and fighting to open his eyes. He had a gash across his chest that was bleeding heavily. Petra shrugged put of her cloak and rolled up her sleeves.

"What can you do for him?" Curt asked

"What I do best." Petra replied with a smile

She tore his shirt open from where it was ripped to expose the wounds. She took a breath and her hand glowed with white hot flame.

"This is only going to hurt for a moment" she said. And with white purifying fire drew his wounds back together. Then Lark came back around and promptly began to gasp and scream again.

"Relax its just a moment! Healing fire doesn't hurt!" Petra yelled over him.

He took deep breaths and found she was right. "It doesn't hurt why doesn't it hurt?"

"Is healing fire" Petra replied flatly. "Now stand up."

Once he stood up Lark almost immediately toppled back over. Curt caught him.

"I did mean slowly" Petra chastised.

"Yeah Esmerelda is gonna love you." Curt said impressed. Letting go of Lark and turning back to the cart.

Bethany mooed.

"Whose Esmerelda?" Lark asked running after.

"The pirate captain I'll be introducing your savior to" Curt returned climbing up into the cart and offering Petra a hand.

"You will be introducing me to a pirate captain?" Petra asked not taking his hand.

"You are headed for a pirate port, what did you expect?" Curt said with a shrug.

"I want to meet a pirate captain!" Lark interjected.

"You lack the good sense to not get between a mother owlbear and her cubs, who, who would want you on their crew?"

"I thought rogues were always welcome on a pirate vessel." He raised his hands to show several articles and accessories he had taken off the both of them.

Petra looked down at her wrist to see her obsidian bracelet was missing and her money pouch no longer in her cloak.

"I do not like to be touched and I didn't even feel that you are amazing!" She exclaimed.

"To be a rogue without good sense is a difficult road" Curt warned "but onboard the Bonnie Bounty you'll at least be in good company, come on" he begrudged.

Lark cheered, Bethany mooed, and by midday they were in the pirate port of Goldhaven
