It’s been several weeks since I first started to speak

I don’t really like it when my mother teaches me words, for it has the same meaning as it has on earth, but there are times when she teach me words using story books about the fables or tales of the hero that save the world which I can’t stop listening to.

A story of the hero and his companions composes of different races to go on a journey to defeat the Demon Lord.

I am kind of curios about the other races especially the demons so I asked my mother about them.

“Mama what are the other races?”

She smiled and happily replied

“There are elves, dwarf and beast man as the common races, there are also races that are told in myths especially the dragon kin and great spirits, they are what we called demi-human”

“Can you tell me what are they?”

“These demi-humans are like us in appearance, but there are characteristics that can determined them from demi-humans to humans. Elves have pointy ears, dwarfs are short and beast man has a bit characteristics of animal; They all have their specialty elves are good with archery and it is said that they are the guardian of nature and with that said they are supposed to be one with the spirits who thrives in nature; while dwarfs may be short in terms of height, they have strong bodies that are far superior to humans, they are also known as the best blacksmiths in this world that it is said they have far more advance technology than any other races; The beast man are the most powerful in terms of strength and a lot of them relies on their raw power that is why they don’t usually use magic and they can maintain a beast form making them even more powerful than before, but at a price of going out of control called ‘berserk’.”

“What about the dragon kin and the great spirits?”

“Just as I said they are classified as myths for not many can say they are real, some say they are, but there are no evidence only the one who witness them can say that they are real; It is said that the dragon kin are descendance of the powerful ancient dragons which said to be living at the beginning of time, they are dragons that has so much mana that they can change their form which they usually take humanoid form; great spirits are said to be the very element of the world like earth, fire, water, wind, light and abyss, it is said that they also take humanoid form.”

“What about the demons?”

“Hmm, demons you ask. They can be classified as a myth that are used in story books as villains, it’s said that they are vicious creatures that destroy everything in their path, and some take in humanoid form as to trick the other races they all have powerful mana; it is said that a single demon can easily defeat a group of human mages, because of them the other races united against them and sealed them away just like in the story book”

Huh demons are classified as myth? But being XXX said that they are gathering so much mana that it upset the world balance, I need to think this through, but I think my eyelid are getting heavy.

Gabi looked at Gabriel who’s fast asleep

“Oh my, look at the time the sun has already went out, it’s time for Gabriel’s bedtime”

She carried Gabriel back to his room.

Five more minutes…. wait its already the next day!!

After a year and a half my mother finished teaching me words.

It wasn’t that bad of an experience for she sometimes uses story books as teaching material these story books are filled with adventures of hero… am I turning into one of those overly obsessive “fangirl” … its fine if I say no homo probably.

Now that I think about it, I have no knowledge of magic.

I better ask mother for that, after all she uses magic frequently.

She usually visits me to check on me perhaps I can ask her in one of those time.

I think she’s coming; I can hear footstep nearby.

I just need to say I want to learn magic.

I better make a face that is irresistible to reject.

I can hear the doorknob moving.

The door’s about to open

I need to smiled as hard as I can and close my eyes and tilt my head a little for extra cuteness and say it

“I want to learn magic ma- “

A manly voice stops me before I can finish my sentence replied.

“YOU DO?!”

Wait that isn’t mother’s voice.

I open my eyes to see the big bulky figure of father.

The father of mine that doesn’t look like he uses magic, but rather his pure raw strength, is the one who came to visit me and the one I accidentally asked instead of mother.

“I am so happy that little Gabriel wants me to teach him about magic!”

What is he going to teach me muscle magic?! I have to reject him.

I just need to look him in the eyes and say no.

As I look at his eyes, I can see such joy that if I reject him, he would succumb to depression.

“yes please, father” I mutter

“Well that’s great, for I the captain of the magic swordsman division shall teach you all I know about magic”

“Wait, you’re the captain of the MAGIC SWORDMAN DIVISION!”

“Well yes I am”

My eyes sparkled with excitement as he said that.

“Alright first we need to learn about mana”

“Mana is everywhere, there is mana over there”

As he pointed somewhere on the room

“Mana is over there”

He pointed in another part of the room

“Mana is also there”

Pointing on another part of the room

“Alright, I get it mana is everywhere”

I said to him

“Good, mana is also inside of every living creature, now you may ask what exactly is mana”

“yes, what is it?”

“Well I don’t know, Tee hee”

As he said and hits his head softly with his tongue out with one eye close.

I don’t know if I am disappointed of him not knowing what mana is or him doing the silly me gesture that will probably give me nightmare at night.

“Hey don’t look at me that disappointed, we can still somewhat explain what it does”

“Oh ho, I am listening”

As I said with such manly tone to it.

My father bewildered by that voice.

“I meant, yes papa please tell me”

I said as cute as I can.

“Ah yes, it is said that mana can attract the elemental spirits that roams around the world, these elemental spirits are water, fire, earth, light and abyss they are the one that compose the world; it is said that the more mana you have the more elemental spirits you can call upon and the less mana you have the less you can call; after the spirits gets attracted by the mana on your body they will grant the power of which the element you ask to use. There are tiers of elemental spirits that roam the world from lesser elemental spirits to greater elemental spirits, the lesser elemental spirit can provide little magic power while the greater elemental spirit will grant you tremendous magic power. Spirits can take many form but only those who are classified as greater spirits are the only ones who can change their physical form at will, a lesser spirit cannot be seen but the higher tier it has the better form it can take like the greater spirit it is said that they can use humanoid forms.”

“Hmm I see so spirits are the one who can let us use magic”

“Yes, that is correct and if you use too much magic it will lessen the mana your body has; making the elemental spirits that were once attracted with your mana roam around the world once more, and if you ever want to call upon them you have to wait till your body has replenish its mana, but there is a way to permanently let the elemental spirit stay with you and that is by making a contract with it, by doing so the elemental spirit will stay with you even if you have diminish all of your mana, but not many can do so only those who have tremendous mana can do it; it is said that if you make a contract with one of the elemental spirits the mana in your body will be reduced permanently the higher tier of the elemental spirit has the bigger the amount of mana will be reduced from your body. There are also other ways of forming a contract with an elemental spirit without losing mana permanently but you have to sacrifice something either with your physical body or your life essence. Now then let me teach you the simple magic chants”

Riel was so focus explaining about mana and elemental spirits that he didn’t notice Gabriel is already fast asleep.

“Guess he can’t take in all the information” he mumbles.

Riel carried Gabriel back to his room and put to bed.
