《Without horizon》Chapter Five - Follow up

The president addressed me directly, knowing what they were talking about:
"Thank you very much for presenting the information, you can wait outside for a moment"
I presented almost nothing except maybe simple information, feeling like I was dumped and all the work my co-workers and my team did to create a collection of documents. I came out quite disappointed but did not show it in front of them. I left the hall and waited for them. It took longer than I thought, I think a few hours until I almost considered going home by the time the president left the hall.
"Sorry I took more time from you than you need, but I think now the situation is more critical than ever" he looks tired: "Come on, I think I'll make up for the waste of time, and we'll talk about it in my office.
We left the building and it was already very dark, but all that lit up the area were the street lights that lit up the road. And the president directed me toward the center of the Capitol:
"I think we'll need a lot of strength and effort to finish this thing."
"Are you talking about the Astra project?"
"No, it seems we need to devote all the resources of the project to something more critical"
"How critical is that?" We had just arrived in front of a large gate and at its entrance, there were guards: one was one of the giants and the other stood Caeca in a full steel armor suit. The president showed them an ID card and they let him pass.
"Let him go too, he has permission to use it at this time of darkness" they nodded and let me go too. Behind the gate stood a larger gate in the center and with it, the guards signaled to those Mousekins, who were similar to the announcer in the hall, and began to try to operate devices and open the gate.
"To what destination?" Asked one of them.
"To Mirtal" the president said and they straight started connecting things to the devices and with it, the gate started to glow, and then a picture of a very large structure started to form. The teleportation gate began to operate.
"The gate is stable and ready, you are now welcome to move forward" they signaled to him and we passed without any problems, and the president signaled me to move forward to the large structure. His entrance hall was not as impressive as in the capital, but it did not seem to bother him. We sat down straight in his room and he poured himself and my water and sat down uncomfortably in his chair. He looks at his private guards standing at the entrance to the room and marks one of the arms. They went straight out and closed behind them.

"Now that everything is free and ready, I think it's worth sharing a top-secret between the whole federation, which only a few people know about except the closed circle, but in retrospect, I think it was silly to hide something like Thaumaturgist researchers like you."
"What are you talking about?" I replied as if he was underestimating our abilities
"You could not have known this even if you had researched it well soon"
Are you talking about finds from the ruins? "I think I immediately caught what he was talking about: this is probably a discovery that could restore the flow of mana to its previous state. Whenever I worked with Crigis in the ruins, they would dig, decipher and guess what ancient finds they make. I can clearly say that one of them, the radio, came from there.
"Yes, I'm talking about something we discovered there decades ago and yet you could say a few hundred years, long before I was born" he took a sip from his cup and began to speak:
"When we first uncovered the area, it was an area that no one touched, but there was one thing that was concerned about that area."
Roccs Islands
"True, after all, ruins were probably called 'Roccs Fear.' Those grown birds that feed on mana like us were afraid to approach this place, but also because of that, we could not explore the place either. Then came the giants from Ferlth-De. They offered us after. Who heard about the place trying to research and get to the root of the matter about the place and so we started exploring the place "he took another sip and continued:
"But the place was infested with metal creatures who started attacking with them, but thanks to nimble work, they managed to neutralize and reached a large room and in the center stood something unusual: a living structure is not clear that it is also made of metal, but it is not valid like the other creatures. He gave them some things with his hands and collapsed, died on the spot "
"I think I heard about this story"
"It's true, it's no secret"
"So what he gave is what you discovered"
"No, these findings were worth nothing, it was the creature that revealed something to us that we would not have known if we had not found it" he poured himself more water and offered me as well, but I refused.

"So after disassembling it, we found a few things and tried to figure out what it was. Some of the Thaumaturgists initially tried to figure it out, but whoever helped with the research was the researchers from Mantodea who had experience with automaton manufacturing, really revealed something: metal plates. It took a few more years later and they were able to invent a device that was able to understand what the plaque was hiding. They called this device a "computer". And with its help, they were able to reveal extraordinary information. More time than our civilization existed "
"I suspected it was from some ancient people who left behind these findings and technologies, but why not tell everyone about it? It could have been a great discovery!"
"No, it could have caused panic if I had told about it" he got up and walked towards me, concentrating on one of the documents that were on the shelf on the other side, moving one of them into the air and straight into his arms. He opens one of them and issues a written document:
"From what's written in this document, you'll know what I'm talking about after you read this. I think it's time for you to know and get ready to act accordingly. Do not show anyone except your team!" He sat back in his chair and pondered
"I think we can do whatever needs to be done," I told him and just walked out the door: "We will save this world!" and I closed the door.
"How naive," he said.
The next direction - The workplace. I used all my strength to get there. Thanks to a hover-coded plate, it was easier for me to move, but after a long day, I did not have much strength to move. I want to sleep, that's all I thought about.
In a short time, I was able to get to a fact site, I almost lost grip on the document I was moving into the building.
"Welcome back" in the short hallway that was at the entrance, Qiqi was waiting for me. But because she approached me, she realized I was not in good shape, so she kept her distance from me. But that did not stop me from contacting her:
"Thank you thank you, how are the staff?"
"They are currently on vacation, just me and a few left to maintain the labs and offices"
"Well well, I'm going to my office, I feel like I'll stay there for the rest of the night. I'll ask you to let others know not to disturb me if it's not an emergency" I just hovered into the office while Qiqi understood what I said and went out to continue her things.
I locked it and crashed straight into the chair and fell asleep.
"Finally" I thought to myself as the world became hazy and ready for sleep.
"Wait a minute" I was so exhausted that I almost forgot to look at the document, I think I would peek at it and read what was written there, maybe I would fall asleep while reading, it would have been great. I with my last strength grabbed the paperwork and pinned it to one of my eyes, not daring to move my big head from a table and start reading:
"According to the light stripe analysis found in a find called A-002, these plates after analyzes of metallic creatures that were in the area, we understand how they work and we were able to build a device that can analyze information from them. It took us several attempts, but thanks to "Of them with mysterious material, we were able to encode the plates and now it was ready to decipher the spoken language."
Some of the information that was listed seems to have been censored, but one thing stood out, after all, it was highlighted:
"According to the piece of sound and after months of work and discoveries coming from the ruins, I was able to extract information about an ancient project preserved in the arsenal that contained the plaques: 'The Great Escape' was called, and it was prepared for only one purpose ..".
I read the following words in chills: "Escape from the end of everything."
