Sandwich was provided a special room within the estate. This room had a small little room for him in the corner, and a large, and complicated contraption taking up most of the available space. This was a daily gauntlet that Sandwich was forced to run, if he wanted breakfast.
He avoided a swarm of arrows, as he rushed through with practiced ease. The light-attributed energy within him was surging, and spreading throughout his body. This increased his speed, and durability. In front of him he was forced to push through fire spitters, and floor spikes, as well as break through a forcefield that got a little tougher everyday. With his new spell working well he was able to easily break through it.
He had created a body strengthening spell in the middle of training the day before. He had originally tried to focus the light, and use it as a laser but only succeeded in gaining a migraine. Light energy has natural healing properties and his migraine went down when he focused his presence, and energy, on it. The soothing, healing warmth of the light gave him the idea to use it in a different, more useful way.
[Sandwich Power] is what he named the spell.
Eventually Amrei decided that Sandwich had reached an acceptable strength level, and that he could start training with Jeremy directly.
Jeremy had Sandwich on his shoulder, as the two were tlead to the battle room. Inside there was a bronze puppet. The puppet was shaped like the housecat, Willie Amrei. Speaking of Willie. He had become a stealth master since the arrival of Sandwich. At first, Sandwich would catch Willie running away upon being spotted hiding behind a chair, or a maids dress. Willie, both because he is a cat, and because he too is quite talented, improved rapidly at avoiding Sandwihc’s gaze. Eventually, Willie got to a point where he could blend into the walls of the estate.

The cat had become obsessed with Sandwich, and was constantly watching him. He was seated next to the Baron, the only person who seemed to be able to perceive him.
Amrei picked Willie up, and started stroking him. “Alright, so beat up Robo-Willie, and I will grade you.”
Jeremy saluted. “Kill.” He pointed at the bronze Willie.
Sandwich glared at the machine. A spark erupted from his heart, and spread throughout his veins. He was engulfed in light. A streak rushed towards the mechanical cat, only to be swatted to the side. The streak kept moving, and charged once more. The cat was unmoving. It once again stated Sandwich away. This time he was exhausted.
Amrei wiggled his fingers. Sandwich felt re-energized. “Son, I think you’re going to have to come up with a tactic other than yelling kill.”
Jeremy sighed. “Fine.”
Jeremy ordered Sandwich to come back to him. This time they had a new strategy.
Jeremy placed Sandwich on the floor, and pulled out a small megaphone. He raised it up to his mouth. “Kill!” he pointed. The word Kill appeared in front of the megaphone, and flew towards the machine. On being struck the machine suddenly got the feeling that it was ‘vulnerable.’ A streak of light crashed into it, and it broke apart.
Baron Amrei nodded in approval.

Viceroy's Pride
This story could be about the Tellask Empire, ruler of a thousand suns and faced with imminent peril at the hands of the Orakh hordes. It could be about Paltai Amberell, the scion of a noble elven House, fallen upon hard times and seeking to find the key that will restore his family's name and save the Empire itself. It could be the story of his voidship, The Viceroy's Pride, powered by magic and crewed by a team of crack marines as they search for adventure and the solution to the Empire's myriad problems. Instead, this is the story of Daniel Thrush, human electrical engineer, befuddled researcher and survivor of the debacle that was first contact with a spacefaring civilization. Due to a combination of luck, magic, hard work, and more luck he is thrust into the center of events as Earth is shoved onto a much larger stage rife with semi-immortal elves and magical kingdoms that predate the Earthly invention of agriculture. Earth is outnumbered, and we have precisely one wizard. Dan. He's not very good at it, but he's going to have to learn in a hurry or watch everything he knows get torn apart by massive spacefaring empires straight from the pages of a fantasy novel. ---------- Some readers have noted that the MC tends to be weak willed and pushed around a bit. A significant portion of the story is his character growth into not being a pushover (i.e. him being passive is in the early chapters on purpose). I'm just including this caveat/warning to make sure that readers aren't surprised/upset and that they stick with it until he learns to stand up for himself. His arc begins to crystallize around chapters 25-27. If that's too long to wait, I get it, I'm just trying to do my due diligence and warn you that the character development is a bit of a slow burn. This is NOT a harem novel. Nothing against them, just not what it is. --------- Updates Monday, Wednesday, and Sunday Feel free to bother me on our discord- Discord!

A/N: I'll update chapters when I get to places where I feel it's right, I don't know where to go and want some direction or would like to have you help with the narrative in some way. Having others make choices forces me to be creative and I think that's when I'm at my best. Keep an eye out for polls in post chapter notes, they usually last 2 days. As always, love each other, and know I am grateful for every single person who reads my works.
