《Bathrooms, Superpowers, and Poetry》Classical Ode: To the Man Who Raised Me

From a crypt beneath the earth,

you retrieved my bones.

Dark powers with malign intent

spent to lift my soul.

With pseudo-life then given,

you sent me forth to raze.

Though just one of many hundreds,

for raising me, I give you praise.

Each body fallen, stood again--

their soul controlled, protected.

To escape the grasping of the void,

ourselves, proffered, to be directed.

To this end, atop the hill,

you’ll watch from safety as we fight.

The burning homes, the toppled walls,

this town will fall tonight.
