《Sword of Savage Desires》4. Sudden confidence

Zhelan dragged his dispirited body on the road, not knowing where he was going. He was oblivious to the inquisitive looks the people around him were giving him. His mind was occupied with all that he had found out once he had woken up from his conscious slumber.
As the strange man had informed him, he had lost his powers and his Qi, one which he prided upon all these years. Even though he had accepted his quandary, it still was a huge blow to him and his pride and Zhelan could not get over it.
The moment he had woken up, he had attempted to sense his Qi. But all he found was a void, one that refused to respond to him and his desperate trials to force out the power in him. Zhelan found out the true meaning of fear at that moment and when even after several attempts he could not find the Qi in him, he lost his vibrance completely. His eyes lost their focus while he became soulless.
Just as the man had promised him, he had taken everything from him, everything that he prided up and reveled in previously, and reduced him to a mere human. He was not even a low-level cultivator. Instead, a human who had no abilities in him and Zhelan did not even know what to do with his life henceforth.
Unable to stay inside the suffocating room, he forced his body out, disregarding the scorching heat, and walked aimlessly. His mind kept recalling all that had happened, especially the two strange men whose voices he had only heard.
'Human.' He scoffed and let out a satirical laugh. He despised them the most for their uselessness. Other than being selfish, they had nothing that could make him admire them. Even though there had been humans who had later cultivated their Qi and ended up becoming high-level cultivators, there had been none who had attained immortality.

And heck, here he was. He was not even a low-level rank one cultivator but a mere human, a human who did not know what to do with his life considering the plight he was in.
Sweat trickled down his cheeks and neck. But Zhelan did not care about it. He had already lost everything in his life, his family, his friends, his clan, and even his slaves along with his powers. What could he now? Where could he go and how would he face all the people he had insulted in his arrogance and ego?
'Why? Just why?' He thought in his mind and looked up at the sky, focusing more on the white clouds. 'Why did you take away everything from me?' Zhelan gritted his teeth and glared at the sky as though he was prepared to burn the man who was responsible for his situation if he were to ever come in front of him.
Zhelan was not the one to lose hope. He had fought his way up, surprising everyone in his sect with his tremendous advancement in cultivation in just a short period. Even his great-grandfather, who rarely left his room, had come out when he had learned about Zhelan's achievements. However, all of it had now disappeared and he had now become trash, a human.
Zhelan stood pitifully under the sun as he stared unfocused at the road ahead of him. He was beyond exhausted, mentally, and unable to think of any solution to his problem, he decided to return to his room, one that he had deemed suffocated a while ago.
But the moment he turned around to retrace his footsteps, he stopped suddenly. His dazed eyes were filled with confusion and he looked at the unfamiliar road. Except for the truth that he was now in the human world of the mortal realm, he knew nothing about the place he was in. Once again, an intense sense of frustration filled his heart and he had the impulse to kill someone.

His heart wanted blood. The monster in him was seeking revenge for what he had been put through. But Zhelan knew otherwise.
'I cannot lose this opportunity due to my foolishness. I cannot allow that man who reduced me to nothing to have the last laugh. I must show him what I am capable of.' Zhelan seethed and closed his eyes. This was not the time for him to lose his cool, not when he had nothing to support him. He still had a chance to return to his original self, although the path to which was still a secret.
There was still hope. He was still alive and that was enough for him. Zhelan's depressed eyes brightened up with confidence and once again, he looked at the sky. 'So what if you took away my powers? I will not accept defeat this quickly.' He sneered and stood still as though he was challenging his enemy openly. His defiant expression and condescending attitude stopped the people around him. However, he ignored them and continued staring at the sky.
'I will get back all that I lost and I will make sure to show what hell means to the man who reduced me to this pathetic state.' Hatred and fury flashed in his eyes and even though they teared up, he did not blink, allowing the tears to flow down his cheeks.
'You messed with the wrong person and I will seek revenge for all that you put me through.' He wiped his tears and glared at the sky before he lowered his gaze and started walking, hoping to find the room he had been in previously.
On his way, he met countless gazes looking at him strangely. But he ignored all of them and kept walking in the direction his heart wanted him to go, not caring if he was in the right or wrong.
Zhelan was totally unaware of the pair of eyes that had been fixed on him since the beginning. On seeing his determined gaze, the pair of eyes flashed with mischief, amusement and interest.
'I did not expect anything less from you Xie Zhelan. Since you wish to show what you are capable of, I too would like to see it. I hope you will not disappoint me.'
