《1855 American Tycoon》Chapter 5: Jumping the Grade

"Scrooge! What are you doing again!" He looked up and saw his math teacher Rodriguez standing next to him with an angry look on his face.
"Nothing, I was thinking about the problem you gave me." Scrooge immediately replied without changing his face.
"Oh," Rodriguez's teacher smiled, "then you figured it out?"
"No, I haven't figured anything out yet," Scrooge said with a bewildered look while looking up at the blackboard. There was a math problem written on the board.
"Don't look at it!" Mr. Rodriguez said coldly, "Not that question, that question Harker has just made."
There was an outburst of laughter from the side. Amid the laughter, Mr. Rodriguez said viciously, "There was no new question at all! What the hell are you doing?"
"Teacher, I suddenly remembered what I did in my last religion class," Scrooge said.
Scrooge understood that the school of this time was different from the school of his previous life when he was studying. In this era of the school, teachers have very big power, they even have the right to what they believe that the study is not serious students from the school expelled. Although Scrooge has the intention of dropping out of school, now is not the time, at least in the language and religion before the two lessons, can not be expelled.
Scrooge knows that Rodriguez's teacher is very strict, but he is also a particularly devout Christians, so, when the class desertion is certainly an infuriating thing, but, if it is for religious reasons, it is not unforgivable. Fact that Scrooge's devotion to religion is now a bit famous in the school, Rodriguez's teachers should not expel such a good and devout young man from school.
"Don't think about other subjects in math class!" Mr. Rodriguez's tone was still stern, but there was a hint of gentleness in his voice.
"However, if you are not punished, you may not be able to remember." The first thing that happened was that he thought he had gotten by, but then Rodriguez's teacher said something like this.
"It's over, I'm going to suffer!" Scrooge mentally wailed that in this day and age, it was not news but a recognized right for teachers to physically punish students. And Rodriguez was a bad-tempered teacher who used the ruler even more harshly. But this era of math class Scrooge is not able to listen to it, it is inevitable to the desert. "Next time, I must not let him catch me!" He said.

"I give you a difficult problem before the next class is made, you will be okay, or ......" Rodriguez laughed, "then you will have to suffer!"
But after hearing this, Scrooge has put down their heart, this era of secondary school mathematics problems, to him, is hand to hand.
In just a few seconds, in the classroom full of students dumbfounded gaze Scrooge to Rodriguez's teacher to solve that difficult problem. The first is that he now needs to get the privilege in the math class, and the second is also for the sake of fame.
Yes, it was for fame. Now many people see his survival as a gift from God, so if he is very religious and shows good talent, it is easy to interpret that talent as a gift from God. And those who are blessed by God are naturally God's favorites. And such a reputation will certainly be conducive to future business ventures.
"This, this, this!" Mr. Rodriguez's eyes widened, "Have you ever done this question before?"
"No," Scrooge replied.
"You haven't?"
"No."
"Then I'll give you another problem to do!" Mr. Rodriguez came up with another problem that seemed even more difficult to him. But Scrooge easily solved it in a few seconds.
"I have one more problem."
......
"Try this one again."
......
"No, Scrooge, this one's not right!" Mr. Rodriguez furrowed his brow.
"What's wrong? The answer should be correct, right?" The first time I saw this, I was surprised to learn that my math skills had dropped so quickly. Even in this era of high school math problems can be wrong?
"Ah, the answer is correct, but ...... but I made a mistake." Rodriguez's teacher a little embarrassed, "This question involves some content that we have not yet learned ...... Scrooge, you are not in advance of the content of the later self-study?"
"Yes, sir." The answer to this question is: "Yes, sir. The truth is, Scrooge actually just flipped through his math textbook and generally knew what was being said in the book. And Rodriguez's teacher's current teaching progress to where Scrooge is not very clear, so he did not find this problem involves some knowledge Rodriguez has not yet spoken.
"How much of the content did you learn by yourself?" Rodriguez's teacher asked.
"The whole book," Scrooge replied.
"That's ......."
The rest of the class was a solo performance, and through a series of problems, Scrooge proved that he had completely mastered all the math he was supposed to master this semester.

"Scrooge, this is a surprise to me. It looks like I can give you the back of the textbook early." Mr. Rodriguez said, "If you can still finish them early, I'll give you permission to do whatever you want in my class."
"Teacher, does this mean I have to pay for my books and tuition in advance?" Scrooge said.
"No, no, I'll lend you these books." The first time I saw a teacher, I had never seen a teacher smile like that before.
......
The first time I saw this, I was able to get the textbook back to Mr. Rodriguez.
"Did you learn them all?"
"Yes, I've learned everything."
"Then I'll give you a test!"
......
"Well, you passed, from now on my class, as long as you do not mess up, come or not, read what books, all your freedom!
......
The first time I saw you, I was in the middle of the day.
"Scrooge, you came to see me again what is it?"
"Teacher, can you arrange for me to take the graduation exam for my senior year?" Scrooge looked a little apprehensive.
"Ha, you want to compete with the senior class? Well, that's a good idea. The questions on the final exam are too easy for you. I'll talk to the principal - the principal has noticed that we have a math genius at school - you should have no problem taking the math exit exam!"
"Mr. Rodriguez, that's not what I meant. I mean, I'm almost done with the other subjects, so ...... so I'd like to go straight to ......" Even the other subjects, the difficulty of which was quite limited for Scrooge, who was highly educated in his later life
"How is this possible? You don't want to graduate, do you?" Mr. Rodriguez asked in amazement.
"Of course I do." Scrooge thought to himself, "old dad and mom obviously will not let me drop out of school in the middle of the year, so how can I honestly stay in this school for years? That is not a waste of precious time to earn money? You know, the Civil War is not far away, whether it is the Rockefeller Consortium or Morgan Consortium in later years, their starting point is this war. To make more money in this war, we must accumulate more wealth before the war. Time is money, can not afford to wait!"
Of course, such words can not be said to Rodriguez's teacher. So Scrooge could only say, "Teacher, I want to graduate earlier so that the burden on my family can be lighter. My father's eyes are not good, so if I can graduate early, he can also be more relaxed."
This reason may not hold water, but teachers always look at students with good grades a little differently. This is not a question of teacher ethics, but common sense. Mencius said the joy of life, one of which is to get the world's talent and education. So now, Rodriguez's teacher is how to look at Shi Gaoji how to feel good, even if Shi Gaoji's not quite in line with the requirements, he also thinks it is still very reasonable.
"Are you sure you're okay with the other subjects?" Rodriguez asked.
"It should be fine," Scrooge said.
"Well, on Sunday, I'll test you with some teachers, and if you pass, we'll go talk to the principal about it."
......
"Is it true what you say? No exaggeration?" A tall, gray-haired old man asked.
"Principal Smith, we can assure you that this boy is at the top of his class in any subject, even in his graduating year. Principal, suppressing geniuses and allowing them to learn at the same pace as the average person is like putting a Thoroughbred horse and an average draft horse together to pull a wagon. How does that work?" Mr. Rodriguez said he knew the principal liked racehorses, so he used that analogy.
"It's not good for him to stay in the lower grades." He's too smart, he's easy to learn, he's effective, and it's undermining the confidence of the other kids," said Duke, the religion teacher.
"So our school has a bunch of Thoroughbreds?" Principal Smith laughed, "Well, it's not a good idea to keep Thoroughbreds with the farm horses. But we've never had a rule about letting underclassmen graduate straight away, it's just not proper. You have to consider the impact on the image of the school."
"Principal, it's only good for the reputation of the school, except for the geniuses." Mr. Rodriguez got a little anxious.
"Ah, Rodriguez, don't be so anxious," Principal Smith smiled, "we don't have a rule that allows lower grade students to take the graduation exam directly, but you must not forget that we have another rule. That is, the best students can skip a grade! First, arrange a test, if he passes, let him jump to the graduation grade, and then everything will be fine, right?"

DarkBoi69's mediocre, rushed and badly-written aventure
Follow DarkBoi69's edgy adventure as I move him through a shitty plot where he meets terribly-written characters like angry evil stupid villains and naive cute useless busty women. This story is not really an actual serious story but simply a writing exercise for me to focus on overall writing speed, forcefully insert some writing in my everyday life to increase productivity and most importantly help with turning ideas, thoughts or feelings into writing directly without feeling blocked, hopefully trying to achieve something as close as possible to writing unconsciously what i’m thinking about. I'll probably try to do something like writing as much in 30 mins as I can, nearly every-day. So far I've only done this once and it already seems like a pretty good thing to do. I don’t have anything planned and that’s probably going to be a constant for every one of these exercises, so it’ll end up being not very good (although maybe better than it has any right to be? ) and nonsensical.
