《Son of Heaven》Chapter 11 - Lucked Out

“Yo, what the fuck is that?” Darren asks as the light from his flashlight found something gruesome lingering in the shadows. It was similar to the insect-like creature, but this one was on two legs and was about a meter and a half tall, while its scythe-like arms extended further from its body.
“Fuck, shoot it. Empty your gun on that thing!” Darren calls out as he stands ready to defend himself.
“AAHH!!” Shana yells as she begins blasting the weird creature with her gun.
**BANG**
**BANG**
**BANG**
Rose also takes her gun out and begins blasting.
**BANG**
**BANG**
Bullets hit the creature repeatedly, but instead of weird-colored blood and guts, sparks began to fly as the bullets were deflected off the creature’s armor.
“Holy shit! Aim for the eyes!” Charlie yells in a panic.
The creature didn’t wait and immediately sprinted forward.
“Fuck.” Darren exclaims as he steps forward to face it. But before he took his second step the creature was already upon him, as if it was an eagle that swooped down from the sky to capture a rabbit. Shocked and fearful of death, all Darren could do was stick his weapon out.
Darren watches as the creature’s super speed worked against it; as it rushes forward, striking down with its arm and piercing past Darren’s make-shift armor and into his shoulder, it had also managed to impale itself onto the tip of Darren’s machete.
Rose, sensing the urgency of the matter, immediately rushes in and plunges her sword into the creature’s eye.
“Holy fuck. Holy fuck. I almost died.” Darren stammers as the rush of the moment fades and he begins to feel the blade-like arm digging into his flesh. “Ah, son of a bitch. Someone pull this thing out of me.” Darren cries out as pain engulfs him, causing a heat to rise in his body.

Rose grabs the arm and carefully pulls it out, causing blood to flow freely and allowing the corpse to collapse.
“Hey, corpse girl! Get your bandages!” Shana calls out.
The corpse lady regains herself from the scene and quickly approaches. Darren slumps to the ground, exhausted, as the lady takes off her backpack to grab some disinfectant and some bandages.
“We lucked the fuck out on that one.” Darren says with a sigh. “What was that?” He asks. He very much didn’t want to face another one of those.
“I think it’s whatever those insect-like creatures evolve to.” Charlie says as he also releases a breath. “Whatever it was, it was fast as fuck. And it’s shell can block bullets. Actually, I don’t think our weapons would have hurt it either if that thing wasn’t an idiot.” Charlie says before considering the situation. “You’re right. We lucked out.” He says, considering how this situation would have worked out normally.
“I guess we found the limit. We should go back and just farm the little ones. We’re not ready for that bastard.” Shana says. She also didn’t want to face that creature again.
“Okay, you’re good to go. But we should probably head back and get that checked out.” The lady says with a comforting smile.
“Thank you.” Darren says, also smiling.
“Ew, gross.” Shana says with a scrunched up face. “Come on. Get your ass back up and let’s go.” She says before turning and walking away.
Rose follows after her, and Charlie follows after Rose.
Darren shakes his head and lets out a bitter smile. The government lady stands up and holds out her hand to Darren. Darren smiles again, feeling grateful as he grabs the lady’s hand, allowing her to pull him up.

The lady begins to walk forward and Darren pushes himself to follow.
“So… You doing anything after this?” Darren decides to ask. Couldn’t hurt. He thinks to himself.
“Sorry. I don’t date kids.” The lady says before letting out a chuckle.
Darren lets out a bitter smile. “That’s… sensible, I guess.” He says with some disappointment. But he was not discouraged. One day, I’ll find the right milf for me. He thinks before his mind drifts to Shana. Or is it really the crazy that I’m into? He thinks, following along slowly as his mind explores his sexuality.
