《The Tragedy of the Hanged King》Chapter 9-The ship

Aneni and Laverm accompanied each other to the port, which had not changed from its loud, smelly and crowded, self, both quivering slightly from sheer trepidation and nervousness. Now that they had secured an investment, they needed to purchase a ship.
Ameni rapidly revised his plan for the ship in his brain, and what it would require from the ship they would be using over and over again.
Anxiety clogged their throats and beads of sweat rolled down their heads. This was an important decision. It was a very important decision, the type that they would either live to love or regret. They slowly move through the options, most proving either too expensive, or too dilapidated and broken to be of any use.
Eventually, the pair came upon a seaworthy vessel by the name of “The Pioneer”. The ship itself wasn’t the Surf-faring behemoth they both would have loved to run, nor was it a lean and mean super boat that could travel the distance between islands in minutes, however it was enough.
The ship itself could only be described a plucky boat, it was constructed out of Bronzewood, gleaming a magnificent golden-brown. Gigantic wheels were situated on either side of the ship, with serrated edges to aid the ship in its movement through the sludge, and equally gigantic masts towered over the lot, with a complex system of pulleys, gears, and tight bronze wiring keeping the entire place under control.
They then pinged over an attendant and moved through the ship. It’s hull had two floors, the top floor, called the Workman’s Pit was the split into two rooms one was a very small and cramped the Spider's Web, named so because it was a mess of strings, levers and pulleys that would take a long time for one to learn, giving it the distinct look of a spider’s web for untrained eyes, which occupied the front of the ship, with gigantic windows and looking glasses to give 360* view of what was going on around it, the other was a gigantic room that spanned the entire back of the ship called The Engine Room, ‘twas a room that contained the engine that powered the axel that caused the wheel on either side of the ship to rotate, as well as the rudder and propeller. This would be where the two would spend the vast majority of time. The second was The Galley, which was a tight cramped corridor which led to eleven equally cramped Workers Quarters, however to the two, who had just spent a few months in a space the size of a cupboard, seemed to be absolutely gigantic.

To Laverm’s untrained eyes, it was a magnificent display of human engineering and ingenuity, while to Ameni’s trained eyes, it would only be an acceptable purchase, it had a decent hull, decent speed, and decent amenities, making it a good start. They bought the ship and boarded it, after which point, Ameni taught Laverm the basics of the running the ship and the two slept for the night.
The next day, the pair decided on the first leg of the journey.
