《Beyond the Legacy》Chapter 4 - Fire slime defeated

The rock projectile flew straight. It came into contact with the fire slime’s body.
The projectile sent ripples along the fire slime’s body. Cinders sprinkled off the fire slime. [-0.5] damage flew off its body. The rock projectile entered the slime’s body, and stopped. The object looked like it had been cushioned by the pressure of the inner flames.
The rock projectile looked like a contorted black to me, like a protrusion inside the fire slime. I waited, and caught the second fire slime in my field of vision. It threw fire bombs. I jumped to my left, my hands protecting my head. My body touched the ground in crude fashion. I lost ten health points, with 67.2/200 left. I rolled along. The explosions went off.
I lifted myself back up. ‘One down for now’, I thought, looking at the gestating fire slime.
I looked around. I saw the golden goose. I saw the gestating fire slime turned towards me. I smiled with wry. I ran away, backward and further to the left. The rock projectile razed the grass behind me. The grass burned livid. The air resounded with impact.
The rock cannoned in this way had enough force to take out my legs. I coughed. The air was dusty. Whatever be the case, [-0.5] was worth a shot. My good friend ‘Geodude’ slime would help. I avoided another rock projectile headed my way. I raced to the golden goose, avoiding fire bombs from the second fire slime.
The goose was fine, not one bit blemished. It was heavy. I heaved the statue up.
I grabbed a rock projectile and strode back to the fire slimes, balancing my body. I felt a bit like an acrobat. I reckoned being half one was good. Along the way, a memory replayed in my mind – that of the slime’s engulfing of the rock projectile.

A rock projectile flew overhead. I observed its trajectory. Geodude didn’t have the best aim. I headed to the landing place, ten meters away from me. The fire slimes followed along. I identified the fire slime with the lower health points. I juggled the golden goose in the fire slime’s direction. It took the statue in. I threw the rock projectile in as well. I walked away. I picked the second rock projectile. I threw it into the gaping furnace.
The fire slime accepted that as well. The second slime blasted its fire.
I ran away. After some time, the fire slime fired. It malfunctioned and blew up. I saw the golden goose landing some fifteen meters away from me.

The forces holding the fire slime’s body together weakened upon ingesting two rock projectiles and the golden goose. The highest probability was that one of the rock projectiles intercepted the propulsion force for the golden goose. Equally, there must have been chemicals inside its body that got trapped.
The temperature difference between the fire slime’s body and the golden goose was of significant importance. A high enough temperature difference required a loss in energy towards establishing equilibrium. In reality, should that golden goose have been alive, it would have been an example of the Gini principle. The Gini principle arose due to relative power dynamics.
A fire slime group with less water on its land would get beat up by other fire slimes wanting that land.
At first, every single atom was heated up in space. This caused the universe to be classified as a hazy orange color, apparently. On the flip side, it was theorized that everything would go into disarray and decay. Follow all atoms.

The fire slime’s body had a diameter of 0.3m, across. Its height was slightly below that.
I was happy for having killed a fire slime.
The feeling welled up from my being. I searched for a rock projectile and got it. Then, I ran across the plain. I threw the rock projectile. I picked it up again. The plain was sparsely populated with shrubs. It had a tree, here and there.
I halted. I sighed. In the distance, I saw a fiery block. I thought it was a mirage. I walked towards the fiery block. It looked like a castle. Four towers rose around each corner. Raised walls ran across each length of the building. I walked back towards my starting point.
The fire slime was a red dot in my field of vision. I detracted my path towards a shrub. It took me two minutes of walking. I grabbed the leaves of the shrub. The shrub jumped up, revealing a plant slime. It came back down. The slime jumped again, throwing its vines in my direction. My left hand was close to my hip. I got wrapped up. I released the plant slime and took out the smiley knife from my pocket. I walked back, dragging the slime. I cut off the slime’s vines.
This wasn’t a mandrake slime.
I grabbed the plant slime while it hopped. I pinned it to its hole. The knife pierced through it. [-6] registered as damage. I wondered if the plant slime was edible. I slashed through it at two random angles. I paused on the third slash.
The spreading web of acidic wisps blossomed: The orange flowers bloomed to a vivid orange; they turned into yellow, larva-like fruits; the yellow bosoms exploded. The airborne wisps looked like bundles of straw.
I tried cutting through the wisp heading in my direction. It stuck to my hand and exploded.
I incurred [-5] damage.
195/200 flashed in front of me. I ran back to the plant slime, imitating a recoiling reel. I slashed it two more times. I left the plant slime to explode.

I lifted my hand, and tapped the empty air at random. A blue light appeared in the top left corner of my sight. I tapped it.
A blue window appeared.

Raz Owens was living the dream - a rising star at a job he enjoys, a girlfriend he loves, but it all comes crashing down when Raz disregards his late father's advice. He is pulled into a chaotic underworld of clandestine labs, shadow organizations, and super-powered criminals. Used as a human test subject in a place where few survive the day, he must last long enough to escape. His only advantage? A power that seems nearly useless—a heads-up display. Contains: monsters, violence, death, dismemberment, gamelit, superpowers, superpower consequences, good guys, bad guys, good guys who might be bad guys, bad guys who think they are good guys, good guys that might go bad, bad guys that might turn good, guns for hire, competence, incompetence, continence, incontinence, conspiracies, and some of what I just said wasn't true. This story is written in third person limited POV. That means you can expect to know many of the thoughts and inner dialog of one character, and only see the actions of other characters. This POV does include scenes without the main character, and thus the reader can and will know things the main character does not. Further, this means characters act on what they know, which is almost always less than the reader knows. Something else to know. These books do not hold your hand. If you're reading it and thinking "Gosh, why aren't 'they' doing some 'obvious' thing." Bad news. You probably missed something that explains exactly that. If you're seeking a light read that doesn't ask much of you as the reader, you're invited and very welcome to come on in, but this might not be the story for you.
