《TeamFortress2's New Addition》Chapter Twenty-Four

You woke up in a daze. You waited until your eyes had settled before looking around. You cringed as you remembered last night. It's true though, these aren't like family members. You're in a building with a bunch of strange grown men. ... You should get ready and pretend your fine. Less to deal with, right? The events from last night raced through your head in circles as you took a longer shower than usual. Dad brought me back to reality. I just need to get through the day. Maybe things could change, but you never know. Getting dressed, you peered through your door checking for anyone as if you broke in.
"Vhat are jou doing?" Medic asked, pulling the door open and looking down at you with distaste. He was standing with a stiff posture. You yelped and jumped back. Freaky evil butler!
"N-nothing!" You tried to say, fighting to calm your heart rate down. "What are you d-doing?"
He huffed and continued to walk towards the kitchen. Okay then. You did a double take down the hallway before hesitantly walking into the living room. You sat down on the couch and pressed your back into it, trying to feel safe. What am I doing, if I act like this I'll look suspicious. You tried to relax and look normal. Not a minute passed before Engie walked into the room. He gave you a continuous concerned look. Oh God no... not this shit. Just stop. He continued into the kitchen, but you could bet that if he didn't have to cook, he would try to talk to you. I don't want that.
Soon, everyone walked in and sat in the living room or stood around. Heavy gave you the same look, but he was pre-occupied talking to Demo. You stared at the ceiling and closed your eyes. Thankfully, no Scout or other person bothered you until you heard Engie call from the kitchen. Reluctantly, you opened your eyes and got up to join everyone for breakfast.
You silently took a plate and sat down, which wasn't out of the ordinary for you. It was sausage and hash browns. Trying to mask your glum, tired mood, you started to eat. Unfortunately, stuffing your face with food doesn't stop other people from talking to you.
"Something wrong, Sheila?" Sniper asked you, taking a drink from the glass. His gaze behind the sunglasses was suddenly more menacing to you. Lie.
"Hm? No, nothing, I just had a long night that's all," you gave him a smile. He didn't look convinced, but he smiled back anyway.
"That's a shame. Well Oi hope your day won't be too rough on ya."
"Heh, thanks." You took a sip from your drink sheepishly. You noticed concerned looks from Heavy and Engie. I don't want to talk about it. Leave it alone.
"Did'ya just not sleep right?" Demoman asked, chewing hash browns. I thought we already established that.
"Yeah. I don't even know what kept me up, but I couldn't sleep. It was like a roller coaster."

"Hud Hud Hudda Hudda!" Pyro squealed behind the mask. You were guessing he said he liked roller coasters from the way he acted. He took a sausage and maneuvered the fork under his gas mask. That's how... he eats. You chuckled and nodded.
"So, who's turn is it today?" You asked the table, looking up from your plate.
"MINE MAGGOT!" Soldier shouted, slamming his fist onto the table. You jumped with the plates. At least it wasn't Engineer....
"A-alright." You nodded.
Eventually, everyone finished their meals. You couldn't help but feel uncomfortable while eating though as Heavy, Engie, and now Sniper kept glancing at you with concerned faces. I don't want this attention, I can deal with it on my own, okay? Once you put your dishes away, Soldier called you to follow him. As usual, Medic followed. After what happened you just let him come, Soldier didn't even seem to notice. You felt him stare into your back as you walked outside. You held your arms as you walked and Soldier didn't say a word as he marched. It was only when you three reached the supply building that Soldier turned around by the door.
"GET READY CUPCAKE!" He yelled at you, saluting as he did so. This guy gets more and more insane. You didn't hesitate and turned Soldier's class disk on. Now, you couldn't see anything other than Soldier's boots and you were carrying a rocket launcher on your shoulder. "PERFECTO! FOLLOW ME!"
Using the sound of his boots hitting the floor, you followed Soldier into the building. Occasionally, your shoulder or the rocket launcher would bump into something. Just when you started wondering how far Soldier is taking you or if you got separated from him somehow, you bumped into his back. Jumping backwards from surprise, you heard Soldier whirl around.
"STAND AT ATTENTION, MAGGOT!" He barked, and you quickly shuffled yourself together. You heard him move his arm and you tilted your head up to see what he was doing. He was pointing to boxes stacked up with a hole in the bottom the height and width of a large crate. "CROUCH DOWN TO GET THROUGH!" Um, okay I guess. You squatted down as far as a chair and walked through. Soldier followed behind you and Medic followed Soldier, but they had more trouble than you did due to the size of the hole. You came across a low cart. "JUMP UP TO GET ACROSS!" Alright Mr. Game Tutorial. You hopped up onto the cart, walked forward, and then hopped off the end. As they followed up behind you, you stood in an area with chain-link fence on both sides with a booth in front of you overlooking a wide open area. There were slots on the ground, two rows of three.
"NOW! YOU HAVE YOUR ROCKET LAUNCHER TO MAKE THOSE SISSIES EXPLODE NO MATTER HOW FAR THEY ARE, YOU HAVE A SHOTGUN IF YOU RUN OUT OF MISSILES, AND IF YOU WANT TO GET UP CLOSE AND PERSONAL... USE YOUR TRUSTY SHOVEL!" He told you, shouting to the area. After a moment, a cardboard cut-out of an enemy BLU Medic appeared on the far, upper left corner. Soldier pointed to it. "Kill, Cupcake."

Lifting up your head to see, you aimed at the target and fired the missile. The force threw you back a bit, but the target exploded into tiny shards. Soldier chuckled to himself and smiled. Next, BLU Engineer and BLU Heavy popped up on the lower corners to the right and left of you. Taking out your shotgun, you hit the targets and their remains sunk back down.
Nothing popped up for a while until a BLU Pyro appeared right in front of your face! HOLY WHAT T-! Jumping, you ran the shovel across its neck and sliced the head off. DIE DIE DIE! You kept wacking it as it sunk down. Screw you.
Soldier laughed, watching the rest of the cardboard sink back down into the ground. He gave your hard, slow pats on the back. Your body tried to flinch away each time, but he didn't notice. You felt Medic's gaze on the back of your head as you smiled awkwardly waiting for Soldier to calm back down... to his usual self that is.
"NOW! You will learn the MOST IMPORTANT SKILL OF SOLDIER!" Soldier leaned down to your face and you leaned away some. "Rocket jumping." He stepped back and walked to go back outside without another word. You followed him with Medic close behind. You didn't have much to say throughout this hole training, or whatever you can call it. You simply followed, wishing for the solace of your room to keep from being around your... teammates. I hope this goes quickly.
Once you got out into the open area again, Soldier turned around. You were getting better seeing with the helmet on, so you didn't have trouble with it. Soldier took out his rocket launcher and you did the same.
"ATTENTION! To rocket jump you must STAND IN THE DIRECTION YOU WANT TO SOAR! Jump up and FIRE THE ROCKET AT YOUR FEET! Then you will fly to beat those sons of bit- ARE YOU READY?" He cried, screaming as he rocket jumped. You watched him and shifted before trying it yourself. Aiming the rocket launcher at your feet, you jumped and fired. Nothing happened and you heard Medic lightly scoff behind you. Let's see you try it you - okay need to calm down it's not worth it and he might kill you SO! Just try again. You took a deep breath and carefully aimed, firing the rocket and launching into the air.
"YEAH!" You called out, moving forward. Soldier was shouting at you in what you could guess was congratulations. Then it hit you. How am I going to land? You panicked as you fell back to Earth. Well that one guy in the parkour video.... As you touched the ground, you rolled out until you stopped. You laughed in disbelief as you stood up... and twisted your right ankle in a dip between rocks. You clenched your hands into fists and hissed through your teeth as the pain entered your ankle and a bit up your calf. You knelt down and grabbed your ankle. You heard footsteps coming your way. Really? What the fudge.
"Well that's just great isn't it? No don't worry this is perfect," you told yourself through gritted teeth. It was going so well....
"No it is not perfect. Soldier, help her to zhe Medbay," Medic ordered as Soldier put an arm around your shoulders from your right and you put an arm around his for extra support. He slowly helped you back to the base as you hopped. Using your left arm, you deactivated Soldier's class disk and had your normal clothes on. Soldier didn't say anything and neither did you while you both followed Medic. Entering the Medbay, Medic directed you on top of a table. He quickly grabbed a machine and turned it on. From what looked to be its nozzle, a red stream landed on your ankle and it was healed. What the fuck just happened?
"Thank you. Um, how did that work?" You asked and he gave you a look like he was already tired of you.
"Zhat's not jour business."
"A-alright. May I leave now?"
"Not yet. Soldier," Medic got Soldier's attention and he looked up. "Are jou done training vith her?"
"SIR YES SIR!" Soldier shouted.
"Good, jou may leave now."
"What?"
"Go." Soldier slowly left the room. Once you could no longer hear his footsteps, Medic approached the table and crossed his arms. It made you wish you could back away. "Vhat's vrong?"
"What do you mean?" You asked, near whisper. I don't want to talk. Especially not to you.
"Jou know vhat I mean." This morning and events from last night flashed in your memory. Shit.
"Oh. Sorry, I had a weird dream." You forced a short laugh. He didn't look as if he bought it. Escape. Run.
"Don't lie to me." He sighed and his voiced softened a bit. "Jou can tell me anyzhing. That's vhy I'm talking to jou." As if I would trust you with personal issues. Act in defeat, then make your escape. You don't trust them! You slouched in mock defeat and took out Scout's disk, looking at it with fake sorrow, but with real tears pricking at the corners of your eyes.
"I-I..." Do it! Do it now!
"Jes Kind?"
"Well, I don't want to talk about it." Without a moment's hesitation you rolled off the table turning the disk on and started running.
"Vha- hey! Get back here!" Medic snarled and he lunged for you, but you already out of the door.
Well you did it (Y/n): You literally ran from your problems. You wanted to ask yourself how you're going to fix this, but you were currently feeling tears stream down your face as you ran off through the base.

Dreams or Another World - Not a Zero (Update 09/19/21)
(Updated 09/19/21) Hello and welcome. If you made it this far and the book title sounds interesting, I'm hoping you'll read a few chapters. Here's a sample from chapter 1 of "Dreams or Another World - Not a Zero."Slowly starting to wake up, I become aware. It's like coming out of a fog.Head hurts.Body hurts. There's a conversation in the room. This isn't my bed. Someone is touching my arm. I crack my eyes to look. She doesn't notice. Is she praying for me? Her hands do feel good…do feel... Slipping back unconscious, my eyes slowly close. I didn't notice the soft green glow under Jenn’s hands.*******************"It does look like he saved them or at least stalled them long enough for us to get there." says the man dressed more like a park ranger than an officer of the law. "I did think he was part of it at first" he continues "but the evidence shows he wasn't there and they were certainly fighting on that back road where we found them""I don't care who he is." says a woman as she enters the room. "He saved and protected my Jenn. I will make sure there's not a mark or a scar on him before he leaves". As she continues the few steps over to the men speaking, even though dressed simply in common clothes, there is no doubt the race of elves is in her heritage. The grace and lines of her form. The elegance and lightness of her step. She glances at her daughter, still watching over the young man in the bed. "Do we know who he is yet?" she asks no one in particular."Not yet dear" a man in a white coat responds. A handsome middle-aged man. Fit, but not that of a fighter or ranger. "I asked Talon to bring another identification stone with him. I was hoping ours was just broke, but it's reading the same.""What do you think is wrong?" Talon asks."I'm thinking we just have to wait until he recovers. I have heard of cases where the stone didn't work. Powerful spells can hide or wipe a person clean. I doubt he's a spy or a criminal. Spells like that are just too high level if, they're used at all. My best guess is, there is just some disconnect with him being unconscious. When he wakes, we can ask him or use the stone again then."I find myself waking up in a hospital bed. The attending Doctor finds it odd that he cannot identify my class. An Officer says I’m a Hero for saving a girl from being kidnapped, but he’s asking too many questions for my liking. I know an accusing tone when I hear it. I don’t remember any of it and I need to find my way home.Author’s notes. Original work. First draft and update of chapters 1-16. Inspired by various fantasy games and books. Written with a focus on character development and interaction. Combat, progression, leveling, classes, but no numbers or stats. I’ll try to keep the language clean, PG-13, no smut. I’m in the US, writing in English. Almost fifty chapters are completed as I pen this introduction. I intend to complete this story or at least bring it to a proper ending. I have a destination in mind. I find as I write, doors and ideas open, while others close and are discarded. The tentative release schedule will be once a week. I'm new to creating. My apologies now while I learn. I have not settled on a book cover or artwork, still looking for something that fits. Registered & Protected #20VjeKDv2U6nynW6
