《TeamFortress2's New Addition》Chapter Seventeen

Before he could get far, you pulled away.
"Right now? Like, right now, right now?" You asked him.
"Uh, yeah! Of course right now, so let's go!" Scout grabbed your wrist.
"Okay! Okay, just don't drag me," you told him as you ripped your hand from his grip.
"Whatevah you say, toots," he said, walking towards the track. You walked beside him. In comparison to your height, he was a whole head taller than you. At eighteen, you were short and your last doctor told you that your growth plates fused, leaving you this height for the rest of your life. Naturally, Heavy looked like a giant to you. "So, whadeya think of everyone?"
"You want to know? Okay, um, well. Ms. Pauling's formal, supportive, and has everything planned out. I can tell that if something goes wrong, it'll be hard for her bounce back as efficiently," you concluded, giving a little nod of your head when you finished.
"Ya can tell all of that? Wow, how you ya do it?"
"Being an introvert doesn't mean you're just quiet with no reason... you observe. Ms. Pauling is always stiff and on a tight schedule, it just seems like if something goes out of place she can't fix it and stay on the same routine."
"Oh, I guess that makes sense. What about the others?"
"I think Pyro has mental issues to make him joyful about killing people and being a severe pyromaniac. Soldier's just insane, stupid, or both, but fun to be around." He laughed. "Engie's calm, but I have a feeling he has a dark side that contains severe rage."
"Oh snap, didn't think I'd ever hear that about 'im."
"Well, that's just me, a-anyway. I am short and Heavy could crush his head with his hand easily. He has a somewhat of a short temper that seems to be from protectiveness, as he's shown with his gun Sasha, but he probably has a teddy-bear type personality on good days."
"True, true."
"Hm... oh! Sniper is a little...hm. I don't know how to explain it. He's serious, but has the normal personality of like he'll prank everyone. Know what I mean?" He chuckled.
"Oh yeah."
"Demo is almost constantly drunk, but he can still work and think well enough to fight and build bombs. He's nice I guess."

"Nice?"
"Well I don't know how to say it. Anyway, Spy has the personality of a cunt on the surface, but anything else I can't really tell, because I can't read his face or see any other emotion except that of a back-stabber. Not to mention he turns invisible, so," you turned around and faced the corner of the building as you both got outside, "if he can hear this, you better not go snooping in my stuff. I know that's what you do, but you won't like what you find!"
"What if he does?" he smirked as you watched the silhouette of a person ripple back into the building.
"I don't know, but I drove him away at least," you laughed.
"I didn't even know he was there! Good job Strat."
"Heh, thanks. Anyway, Medic... oh crazy, deranged Medic. Where do I start?" Scout started to chuckle. Huh, I didn't think I could actually hold a conversation with Scout without him boasting about something. Proved me wrong. "For starters, he never liked me even when we met at the school, and he always puts me in awkward situations, insults me, and then proceeds to quote-unquote 'Try to make me feel better.' I swear if I wasn't on his team he would personally infiltrate the BLU team's base just to kill me."
"Sounds like him. He doesn't really like anyone. He certainly nevah tries to heal me. Now, what do ya think of me?"
"Oh! Of you? Do you want my honest opinion?"
"Of course! Just say it."
"Well, you're cocky to start." He snickered. "Shut up... and you boast a lot. I can tell you really like Ms. Pauling, but don't worry I won't tell. I never thought you could listen to me without talking about yourself due to your prideful, carefree attitude, but I stand corrected."
"I proved ya wrong? Guess I'm smarta' than you." He put his hands behind his head.
"Whatever you want to believe man," you said, shaking your head laughing as you two stood in front of the starting line for the track. "Kinda sucks Spy can use blackmail against me with the others now."
"Don't worry about it, he never does anything, he just likes ta know secrets. Now, we should start with a warmup lap, right?"

"O-um, right." It just hit you that you were here, with your inactive self, about to run a giant track. The only adrenaline helping you now was from fear. You entered a starting position, as close to Scout's as possible. He puts most his weight on his lower back, which would explain why he runs so lightly.
"Ready... GO!" His voice shot into the air like a bullet. You both took off. He was already well ahead of you, and your breath was already heavy. This wasn't how you felt in the gym back home. Did Spy do something to you to make you more fit or something? Holy crap... this hurts. You weren't half-way through the "warm-up" before you stumbled a bit. You forced your way through and tried to slow your breathing silently back at the starting line. "What's wrong toots? Can't handle a light jog?" Scout smirked, looking like nothing happened.
You groaned and stood up straight again. "Don't push yourself to hard, lean forward and let gravity do da work." You nodded and you both started running again.
Doing as he said you leaned forward, and yes, it probably made the lap easier than it would have been without his advice, but your legs felt like literal Hell. Great, just great. You were openly breathing heavy once you got back, and like before, Scout was already there and looked like nothing happened. His expression was a cross between pity and amusement.
"Huh, okay toots. You make it one more lap, and we'll stop. Don't want to push it too far on the first day."
"*Huff* Thanks...," you told him and started weakly running.
"Hey not like a wimp Strat, actually running like you're running from someone. Like run from Medic!" He called as you sped up. You pictured Medic with his syringe gun and that wicked smile on his face, and you immediately started running at full speed, no pain added. The lap went by in a flash and you finished with a slightly impressed-looking Scout at the starting line. "Not as good at me Strat, but better than last time."
You both started walking back inside with not much to talk about. You both sat at your places for dinner, you hadn't even realized how long it took you both to do your training. No one talked about much, but Scout did boast about how fast you ran today, even though he was obviously faster. You had nothing to say on the topic. Not in a sad way, but more like a content, tired way. After dinner, Scout asked you to the living room. The television was on the video game Smash Bros Brawl. You remember playing this game a lot with your friends. You nearly always won with either Kirby, Lucario, or Meta Knight.
"Want ta try to beat me? I'm da best out of everyone here," Scout gloated, sitting down on the carpet. You're challenging an introvert who spends her time playing games... to a game battle?
"Want to test that theory now I'm here?" You smirked, sitting to his right and grabbing the controller.
"Well, it's more of a fact toots." He chose Meta Knight.
"Not anymore." You chose Kirby. Need to balance Meta's quick attacks with someone just as fast.
"Try me. First to five wins gets the title."
"Gladly." You chose a place to fight and started the round.
You won the first time quick and easy, but the second time lasted for what felt like forever. Slowly, the team assembled on the couches, chairs, and on their feet to watch you both play. Eventually you won with Lucario against his DK and the team gave a little cheer. Engie had a beer and Demo had two during another round. You won yet again.
"Ready to give up your title?" You asked him.
"Not yet, I got one more trick up my sleeve." He actually did, winning with the Pokemon Trainer.
"HA! YES! I GOT YA! BOOM! SUCK IT!" He shouted in triumph.
"Good job... I'm still winning three to one, though." You added, Sniper making an "Oooh" sound. Scout growled.
You won the last two rounds, claiming the title as "Da Best." Scout grumbled and admitted defeat while everyone trickled out of the room. Heavy took a passed out Demoman with him.
"Good game, Scout," You said, turning off the Wii and putting everything away.
"Yeah, yeah, good job I guess," he finally said.
"Good night." You walked towards your room.
"'Night." You saw Scout as a real friend now.
