《The Slayers Of The Seven》III - An Assassin's Fatality

Even when the sun bellows down light, the city looks decrepit. That's how most cities look to me in this era of life. The City Of Qork hasn't been even looked at by The Kingdom of Sela for decades, so that would mean it's a perfect place for crime to form.
I am currently involved in a crime syndicate and have been involved ever since the day I was born. The organization is in some faraway land and in a different kingdom from The Kingdom Of Sela.
So why am I here?
The boss said that there was a man in Qork that may have information about a magic item to complete our goals.
I slithered around the slums of Qork. Lots of people in this part of the city are all dressed in tattered disgusting clothes. These were the poor unfortunate people and their families who had been stuck in this disease ridden city for decades, thrown away like trash by the nobles of The Kingdom Of Sela.
I didn't want to stand out not many High Elves came through Qork very often. I had to make sure my light golden skin or my pointed ears didn't show so I engulfed myself in an ash colored cloak with a cloth mask covering the lower part of my mouth. The only thing that they will see are my bright blue eyes.
I had been watching the target that I now know as, Eto for only a week now. My only job is to get the information and kill him, a quick and easy task that I've been doing for years.
Even if it does seem easy, I can't fuck this up. If I do, I'll be doomed to be erased by the boss and won't see the promise of the great future the organization is building.
A small shiver covers me when thinking of the boss. There are only seven members of the organization, all born and made into killing machines for the organization, we all go by code names by what magic we specialize in, I have the unique skill of Sword Magic so I get called Sword. Though, informally I go by Mansoon, I don't get to hear that name a lot.

My job in the organization has been very simple compared to some of the other members. I have to do the cleanup most of the time, meaning if someone has knowledge of our organization I have to execute them. Rarely I get told to find information like this mission so in some sick way, this mission is a treat.
Since I had been observing Eto, I had gained insight that Eto is a pawn shop owner with the name of The Loot Castle. Before I complete my mission I reach out hand and whisper,
"I call upon the spirit of night, please grant me your eyes".
A green light breaks out into my hand and out comes a wide eyed snowy owl that I named, Exodus.
"Hoot hoot" Exodus jumps onto my shoulder, and I give him 2 head pats,
"Watch the area, let me know if anyone is coming into the store".
Exodus is the very few things in The World Of Ruxrial that I trust and care about. Exodus has been with me ever since my 2nd week as an assassin. He has always been my eye in the sky, alerting me when danger is near.
Exodus leaps off of my shoulder and flies up onto the roof of the Loot Castle and surveys the area. I close my own eyes and begin to see what the owl sees, the streets look clear as they should be at this time.
I open my eyes and slip into the rigid front door of the Loot Castle, all around the shop is littered with small trinkets and gadgets. Behind the piles of litter there was my target Eto, a small human with black greasy hair.
Eto gives an uneasy smile through his unshaved face, I could see him trying to look through my mask,
"Hello welcome, to Loot Castle, find something you like and we can talk about some prices."
I put down my hood and mask to reveal my elvish features, and I give the man a confident smile,
"I'm actually looking for some information".
Eto nods while staring at my pointed ears, "I'll help in any way I can, would you like some tea?"

"That would be nice, thank you".
Eto gestures his hands towards a table with four chairs unevenly surrounding the table and I sit onto one of them.
"I always heard you elves loved your tea" Eto says while pouring a cup on one of the cluttered counters. I let out a fake laugh holding all my willpower not to cut him down.
Eto hands me a cup full of Dwarfish tea, which I absolutely hate, I force myself to gulp down a few sips and put my hand over my rapier under the table. Eto pours himself a cup and goes to sit right across from me.
I take another horrible sip and say, "I heard that you had some knowledge of the magic item known as The Enlightenment Orb ".
Eto raises his eyebrow, "Yes I do have some knowledge of it, but why would you like to know".
I smile and look him straight in the eyes, "I'm a scholar at a school just wanting to get information".
Eto's eyes light up, "Oh I see, well my knowledge is very little. I only know that the location of the magic item is only hidden through The Primordial Scrolls, 7 out of the 29 Primordial Scrolls have clues in them!"
The Primordial Scrolls it takes getting through hell even trying to grab one of them let alone 7 of them... They are filled with forbidden knowledge, stuff that one man can't handle. It is said reading too much of them can make you go blind permanently.
I nod, in deep thought as Eto opens his mouth again to speak, "Say what school are you at I was thinking about becoming a scho-"
Ha. What a gullible fool
I plunge my rapier into Eto's heart. Eto jumps back into his seat out of shock and immediately slumps motionless onto the floor.
I get up from the chair I was sitting in and I wipe the blood off my rapier with a handkerchief. I sheath my rapier and make sure there isn't any blood covering my cloak.
"HOOT HOOT"
I heard a loud hoot inside of my head, which isn't a good calling. I closed my eyes looking through Exodus' eyes. My heart dropped out of my body. There was a man that looked like a noble walking towards the shop.
Nobles shouldn't be in this city, they left and didn't return decades ago. I panicked and grabbed Eto's deceased body and dragged it behind the counter as the man dressed in a half purple half orange suit with a top hat following the same style of the suit walked into the building.
The man was pale with a bright aura around him that screams, I got money, he walks up to the counter with a large smile.
The man glances around the room, "Say have you gotten any red gemstones in here lately?"
Me, keeping my composure and calmly saying, "No, sir. I haven't seen any gemstones at all in a long time!"
The man examines my face and gives me a smile that makes me get a chill down my spine,
"Oh I see, how unfortunate perhaps the actual shop owner would have known" as the man replies, he bows his head and walks out of the door.
I let out a sigh of relief which turns into panic when I feel my face, realizing that my face wasn't covered.
Wait he said would have known? Shit. Shit. Shit. He knows I killed him, but how does he know?
Shit. What should I do? Find him and kill him? I can't have him seeing my identity. Boss would give me a punishment worse than death if that happens. But he's probably a noble! Killing him would cause unforeseen trouble!
I rushed outside and commanded Exodus telepathically, Follow that man that left The Loot Castle.
Exodus flies over the city stalking the man as he heads into the main plaza of the city.

A Mildly Odd Reality Breaker
Omar receives an unexpected visitor who comes baring a gift—a "registration ticket"—in the form of a small metal card. The ticket is itself an offer to participate in the game, "Reality Break." Accepting this offer means that Omar will be able to perceive the true nature of reality where there is not one, but two dimensions of time, and in this second dimension history changes (and somewhat "frequently"). Along with this, he will also gain access to the "chronopause"; another reality that is not so much parallel to our own as it is perpendicular, which acts as both a place and the natural boundary between non-sequential points on the timeline. Using the chronopause, Omar will become a chrononaut with the ability to travel through time, and as a player, he will be given a cybernetic interface and his own portable extradimensional storage space. It's a strange conversation, but due to Omar's dismally short attention span, he only consciously hears that last bit about the portable pocket space, and that's only after the physics-defying void is opened in his living room and literally waved in front of his face. Reality is certainly stranger than most people realize, but then again, so is Omar. Thankfully, he responds well to shiny things, and for better or for worse, his chronic inattentiveness is the least of his psychological issues. Omar also has a mild form of "Oppositional Defiant Disorder" which presents itself as an occasional, arbitrary need to disobey others (especially authority figures). However, his oddest psychological issue by far is his "abnormally hyperactive" subconscious mind. Outwardly and consciously, Omar is a lazy, apathetic man-child prone to mildly asinine behavior. Subconsciously, he's some sort of genius capable of extraordinary feats of cognition. Most of the time, Omar is a (technically) functioning adult, but in order to live as such, he must rely entirely upon unusual abilities he's completely unaware of, despite the fact that he uses them regularly. Up until now, his life had merely been ridiculous, but now it was also a game. Note: The narrative style is that of a reliable narrator with a "3rd-person sarcastic" POV. This story takes place in the Reality Breakers/Chronopause universe.
