《Another Death》Chapter 31 - Journey's beginning

One day has passed, since the start of their journey, and they weren't even close to the next village, because they fell asleep in the middle of their travel.
"Good morning" said Andrej who yawned and dusted his coat off.
"Good morning" replied Katarina.
"How can you stay up so early?"
"The better question is why do you keep kicking me when you sleep?"
"Why not?"
"Get up, it's a long travel until the next village" Katarina said, and they immediately started walking, both of them showing obvious signs of exhaustion.
"If i got reincarnated here, will mother and father reincarnate somewhere too?" thought Andrej.
"What are you thinking about?" Katarina asked.
"Nothing much"
"You could write a book just from your thoughts"
"I don't think i would want that"
"Fair" said Katarina, and they passed a wooden sign, which was half destroyed, but they could still make up what was written on it, the next village, Bagremovo, was about another 30 minutes away.
"By the way, Ivan lives in this village we are heading towards"
"Perfect, we can pick him up on the way"
"Yes, but that won't be easy"
"I get what you are saying"
After some silent walking they arrived at Bagremovo village, which was equally destroyed as their own, all around them were debris and dead bodies, and as they got further into the village, more and more bodies could be found on the ground. They continued searching through the entire village, but they couldn't find Ivan, or his body, if he was dead by any chance, a lot of thoughts coursed through their heads, but they continued their search, eventually finding a small house which was mostly intact, they went to search it, and inside they found Ivan, who was reading a book and drinking, like nothing had happened.

"Really?"
"Oh welcome, didn't see you there, come on, want a drink?" Ivan said as he closed his book and offered them a cup.
"Yeah, sure" Andrej and Katarina sat down and started drinking with Ivan.
"So, do you know why all of this happened?" asked Ivan, but Andrej and Katarina just watched in silence "I understand, it's hard to talk about, i also lost my grandfather, the only person who accepted me in my family, but let's change the topic"
"Yeah, for example, what were you doing until now?" asked Katarina.
"You know, just went here and there"
"That sounds just like you" said Andrej "I'm going to sleep a little, is that fine?"
"Of course, let me show you where the room is" said Ivan, who took Andrej to a room with two beds, and he laid on one of them.
"Karna's words and actions made me think about my selfish wishes, that is why, i will make sure that nobody will ever experience the same pain Katarina and i did" thought Andrej while falling asleep.

Isoptera
Reincarnated, Crete finds himself not in some overpowered human body with the basic kill the demon lord cliche. No, he is reincarnated as a weak, powerless, and quite frankly worthless existence. Maybe his was a mistake, as he wasn't even reincarnated as a human but instead a humble and meek existence, A termite. Follow Crete as he adventures, without the memories of his previous life intact, in this New World, Honera. He trudges on endlessly with his indomitable willpower and journeys as a meek termite who is fraught with trials and tribulations; as he seeks for the power to just live in peace and without the prejudice everyone seems to have against his kind. Upload Schedule: M-W-F Hey guys this is my first attempt at a novel, based on the type of fiction I enjoy, it'll be mostly slow-paced at the start as I try to work out the kinks and learn more about "Isopterans". However, if y'all enjoy it leave a few nice reviews, or if you don't, leave some constructive criticism. Both would be appreciated. I also would be setting up a Patreon if any are interested in donating to help fund the story or you can send a donation through PayPal directly. I want to create something that we as RRoaders can enjoy together. You can also access the Discord here [participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge]

Tower of Somnus
When humanity first encountered alien life, we were judged and found wanting. The Galactic Consensus interviewed our leaders and subjected us to a battery of psychological tests to determine our progress as a society. They found us to be selfish, wasteful, impulsive, and boorish neighbors. Earth was blockaded and our collective encounter with our extrasolar neighbors rapidly faded from memory. All they left behind was a hypercomm relay and a handful of subscriptions to a massively multiplayer game that participants played in their sleep. The Consensus said that it would let us interact with our neighbors in a controlled setting. That it would teach us to be better members of the galactic community. The megacorporations that controlled Earth ignored the game until they learned that the powers earned from clearing dungeons were just as real when day broke. Magic, supernatural abilities and rumors exploded from nothing and a subscription to The Tower of Somnus became a status symbol. Katherine ‘Kat’ Debs doesn’t have much, but it could be worse. Born in an arcology, she was assigned a job in the megacorporation that raised her almost as soon as she could work. Despite the stability of her corporate life, she wanted something more. A chance to claw her way up the rigid social and financial ladder to make something of herself. A chance that wouldn’t come naturally to someone as familiar with dark alleyways and the glint of steel as she was with office work and corporate niceties.Book One is up on Kindle Unlimited as of 7/6/22 - https://www.royalroad.com/amazon/B0B2X3L8H5
