《Falling For Juliet》23. At The Fountain (Juliet)

Over the next four days Naomi and I spent more time together. We would hang out and just talk about everything going on in our lives. We even chatted about the animal forms we shifted into.
At first, she thought I was a wolf because on Saturday night she wasn't exactly in the right state of mind. I would have thought the same thing. I had to explain to her that my family and I were Alaskan Malamutes. In return, Naomi told me that her family could shapeshift into red foxes, which I thought was really dope.
Today we decided to meet up because we wanted to find a place on campus or nearby campus where we could shift without nosey bystanders. So currently, we were hanging outside by a small fountain that was located in between two dorm buildings, looking at our phones.
Naomi was researching locations close to campus as possible places for us to go, while I was looking at a map of the campus.
"We've already been to every place on this map! There's no good spot for us to transform peacefully," I said in frustration.
"Same here," Naomi replied. "The few good locations I came across are kind of far, like we'd have to take the bus… And who feels like doing that?"
"Not me!" I chimed in, and huffed. We were sitting on the grass right in front of the base of the fountain. The structure was high enough that I could lean back, and I did. I was annoyed.
She looked back at me and smiled.
"What?"
"What about right here? At this fountain? I think if we came later at night, it could work!" she stated.
I thought about it for a moment, and she was right. This area would practically be deserted after nine. I sat up and grinned.

"I'm sold! This is our special spot!"
The way she looked at me caused me to become a bit flustered.
"Our special spot?"
Her cheeks turned pink and she averted her eyes. The wind caused a few of her curls to blow across her face. Without thinking I tucked her hair behind her ear. She glanced up at me and I bit my lip. I knew that she was still shy, regardless of the fact that we'd become so much closer.
"Too much?" I asked innocently.
She giggled, "No… It's fine."
I flashed her a bright smile and she smiled back.
"So…when should we come back to our spot?"
"How about tonight? We can even make it into a thing, like you could sleep in my room. My annoying roommate will be with her boyfriend all weekend," I said.
She bit her lip, but her eyes smoldered.
"Yeah, I'd really like that, Juliet…"

Later that day, around eight, Naomi came to my dorm with a small carry bag. I let her in and showed her to my room. I told her she could keep her bag on my desk chair, since I wouldn't be using it for the next two days.
"Where is your roommate?" she asked.
I shrugged and plopped down onto my bed. "Don't know, don't care."
"Oof, she's that bad?"
"She's worse!" I countered.
"Why don't you go to the housing office and see if you can find another roommate? Sometimes you can switch dorms."
"Tried that. You have to have a 'substantial reason for why your roommate isn't suitable'," I told her, using air quotations with my fingers. "That's what the housing manager said. And Heather hasn't done anything considered substantial."
"That's bullshit!"

"Yeah I know, so I just ignore her and she ignores me. It works for the most part."
Naomi awkwardly stood in the middle of the room, and I found myself cracking a smile.
"You know you can come sit down…" I told her.
"Duh, of course," she replied quickly and clumsily sat down beside me. She blushed.
I started laughing, and she joined in after a moment.
"Don't tell me you're nervous. There's nothing to be nervous about."
I lied to her confidently. I was nervous as hell, but I didn't want her to know that.
"Juliet, I know you're nervous too…"
I was surprised, surprised that she was bold enough to call me out.
"Who wouldn't be nervous about a situation like this?"
She was totally right. I became flustered and tried to change the subject.
"So…what did you want to do after we got back from our spot? Should we watch a movie?"
"Sure, we can. What type of movie?"
"Anything but romance," I stated. "I'm sorry, but I'll fall asleep."
Naomi chuckled. "Okay, then maybe something more fast paced… How about action?"
"We could do that. I'm super into fighting flicks…"
"I'm more into the drama thriller kind of action. Well…what is your favorite movie genre?"
"My favorite genre is horror," I admitted.
"Horror it is," she declared.
I hoped that she was actually into horror films and not just being nice about it. Though, if she did get scared during the movie, it would be the perfect opportunity for me to make a move…nothing too extreme. Maybe she'd let me hold her hand or let me wrap an arm around her. Until she said otherwise, I planned on taking small steps with the romance.
We chose to take up time by going to the Dining hall to eat dinner. By the time we were finished the sun was finally starting to set, but we still had about an hour before it was completely dark out. As we were leaving the Dining Hall, I got a phone call from Danny.
"Hey!" I greeted him. I listened to what he had to say. "Yeah sure, we're headed back to my dorm room…" I paused again to hear his response. "I'm with Naomi…" He spoke one more time before we hung up. "Yup. See you there!"
Naomi looked at me expectantly.
"That was Danny! He's going to meet us at my room. I hope that's okay?"
"Of course! I'm actually eager to meet him officially," she told me.
"Cool." I said with a smile.
Danny met us outside of my dorm building, and then the three of us headed up to my room.
"Naomi, this is Danny, Danny this is—" I stated.
"NAOMI!" Danny chimed. He hugged her and she laughed. "Oh! I hope it's okay that I hugged you…"
Danny blushed a little as he bit his lip.
"No, no, it's fine. I think anyone who did what you did for me last weekend definitely deserves a hug," Naomi replied with a big smile.
I was really glad to see that my best friend and my crush were getting along.
"So, what are you two doing for the night?" Danny asked.
