《Heretic Immortal》Chapter 6: Reassuring

Shok and bafflement appear on the mad man's face at the arrival of little Levis half dead figure.
"More like fate to die. It's just a kid in his last moments. Hey, kid, accept to be my test subje---student.” “
“Kid, can you hear me? Hey, hey, hey, what the fuck? This is bad. The kid is really in his last moments. His mind is dissipating."
"Fuck, the fated one. Answer me, damn it."
"Kid, accept my offer, and you'll live."
"Fuck, if I'm gone dissipate because of this, I will destroy you first."
As the two different tones of the mad man were becoming more and more anxious about the unresponsive state of the dying kid and as he arrived at the bend, by some miracle, he turned left, taking ten more steps before collapsing right in front of the mad man still inside the wooden cube made of planks.
But the face of the mad man was not one of happiness but of bitter anguish.
"Hey, what the fuck? The candle will go off, and this little bastard can't answer us. How will we help him if we cannot get confirmation of his will?"
"You’re now thinking of consent. He’s dying at our feet."
"If I don't get a mutual understanding, the procedure will become more difficult if he's gone and resists me."
"So some goodness indeed exists."
"Hmmph. Some things need to be enforced. Others do not require the same forceful approach. This is not about good or evil. If he doesn't answer, we'll forcefully make our disciples."
But just as though the madman was extending his hand to grasp the little boy, a soft voice that could barely be heard came out from his little mouth, but that was enough to freeze the mad man as his eyes and mouth widened into a smile.

"I'll live---"
"Did he just---"
"No, but this is even better, if his will to live is strong, there shouldn’t be any fight back, hah hah, "HAHAHHAHA YOU ARE INDEED THE ONE TO BE MY GUINE---, INHERITOR HAHAHAHHA."."
"Stop laughing, and let's take him. He'll die before you start anything."
As excitement, wariness and seriousness fell on the mad man's face, a hand like an eagle grasped the half-dead boy to the side, while shutting the wooden door.
The hills were still the hills, the river afraid to go south, and the prairie a mystery still, only the road dusty as ever as there had not been any rain for six days, only the slow and dragged footsteps of a child with little blood stains on the road west of the river could be seen coming from the north of the interior mountainous region of the boarded mountains.
But foot steps could be heard as two light cloth men were running on the road down south while regularly looking down on the apparent tracks left by the little Levis. Only to be baffled when they arrive at the river bend and find the trail suddenly disappeared.
"What is going on?"
"Don't look at me. I have no idea either it does not seem to be going in the river. It just stops on the road."
"I was expecting a dead body. I was skeptical when I heard that someone had escaped from Captain Zuger. Still, what will we report? That we lost a half-dead kid? Are we even going to report it?"
"No need, probably some ranked flying beast took him for food. Anyway, we still have to reach the gathering point of the villages. The fucking guards have been too fast. It is better if we locate them and return them immediately. Let's hope no problem arises."

As the two men with fast steps took the road east, the only unusual thing was the wooden plank cube standing right where the trail of blood ended.
Further east, beyond the two-men scouts sent by captain Zuger, where the hills were becoming smaller and smaller while the river was becoming more prominent, as the affluents were accumulating. A strange thing could be seen as two worlds could be seen, to the north a sea of trees while to south a sea of grass as though two armies were confronting each other.
But north of the river, in between the hills and the sea of trees, a large gathering of human heads herding bulls and horses that were dragging carts, carrying poultry and pigs and other provision as they were entering what seemed to be a large circular wooden fence made in haste and various spike wooden shot logs in the ground that appeared to have any intention of stopping an advancing army.
The wooden wall was very large but at the same time seemed very crowded as people moved to and fro, as tents of poor quality were their home.
Men, women, children and some that were approaching their old age, but old people seemed rare to find.
But it was in the midst of the tents that an old man with gray hair was moving, but his demeanor and movement as he had a back straighter than a young man.
But the old man dressed in very fitting and very comfortable black attire was looking left and right, as though taking notes of the situation as he was approaching the middle of the camp, where same larger and sturdier tents could be seen as guards in blue clothe and shining metal plates over their chest, legs and arms could be observe were patrolling the area.
As the old man was approaching the largest of the tents in the middle of everything, the guard saluted him without interference, letting him inside, as only to be normal.
As the old man entered the inside of the tens, a large and spacious hall greeted him as a rectangular table with ten sets, eight on the long sides and two on the extremes. As the seats were empty and only one, at the back of the tent was occupied by what young man clad in a much more spectacular armor as even the finger of his hand was covered in an intricate gauntlet with a large sword on his right of the chair, the young man's eyes were close as he was breathing in a clock like fashion.

WARNING: THIS STORY HAS A SLOW START. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED. We all grew up hearing stories about heroes and villains, but what would we do if we were to be part of one? One night, a bioweapon escaped from its laboratory in Zalcien, only to die in a dark alley. One night, a young man lent a helping hand, only to die alone in the dark. One night, a deity of death saw two lost souls and offered one a second chance in the other's body. Now a strange creature made of darkness, James has to deal with his new form in a strange new world where superpowers, heroes and villains are commonplace, far away from his home. Watch as he learns how to use his powers, as he meets allies and enemies and how, when facing the paths of heroism and villainy, he chooses a third way somewhere in between. Follow the story of James, a lost Earthling soul, as he becomes Silhouette, the mysterious power in the shadows. Greetings fellow humans. This is my first story on Royal Road and my first long-term project written in English, so I do hope you will have some mercy in your heart when reading. So, as you may have understood, this is a story with super-heroes - which is quite ironic for my first story considering all of the other ones planned are fantasy - and as such will take place in a modern-like setting. Despite dark themes and gory scenes making their way into the story, it is still a super-hero world with the logic that matches, so expect characters to survive nuclear explosions without a scratch and yet to get defeated by a rubber ducky - as well as similar dark humor, thus the comedy part.
