ALBT chapter 1 A long walk
Sirens, you could hear them from miles away. But for me I was right at the epicenter.
I stole the black diamond. You might be wondering why I'm stealing THE most valuable gem in the world. Well, let me explain my master plan.
My name is Marco, The people in my slums call me rodent. Why? Because I'm a thief. Not by choice. I have to help out my ill mother and newborn sister. The birth of her caused my mother to fall very sick. So I started out by just stealing some food and medicine. But the doctor told me… “Us” that we need a thousand del in order to afford the surgery. I will do anything for my mother. So I came up with the world's greatest heist. To steal the black diamond. This came when I found out my school's field trip is going to the world's “Greatest” museum. More like the “We only have 1 thing people come here for” museum. It's the most boring place on earth. And yes I know you are wondering how old I am. I'm 12.. You might be saying that I'm going to get my ass kicked by security. But what they don't know is (Imagine i'm giving a cheeky smile) I'm an elemental! Elementals are people with elemental magic. Since everyone has a different magic, the elements are looked at with respect. I just so happen to be the weakest one though –_– . I have the ability to manipulate wind. I'm not very skilled with it. Everytime I try to use it my output veins overload and I end up hurting myself. Not my proudest moment.
Now once I get in the building they will hold an event where they take the gem out of the box. That's when I reveal to the crowd that I'm so cool and I launch myself with a burst of wind straight at the gem. That will work perfectly.
“Ok I get it” My friend said to me”
“So you’re gonna help me?!”
“Sure but you gotta give me a cut.”
“Will do 90/10?”
“Suck my nuts, 50/50. I have the most important job, I'm the one that's gonna have to take the blame if you fail. I'm only doing this because I owe your mom for helping my dad out last year”
“ALRIGHT!” I said way too loudly.
We were on the bus and people gave me a couple odd looks.
Some time had passed and we entered the auditorium. Pictures of the greatest of the Vale were plastered on the wall. They were so cool, I even saw my predecessor of wind. I don't know his name however.. Me and my friend (nickel) took a seat in the middle section of seats. I need him because of his magic. He could make ki outburst in different areas. This was perfect as in order for me to get the gem, my ki build up would be so obvious. What he doesn't know is that I'm using him. I have it set up that he will take all the blame and he’ll be sent to the ccf (Child “Correctional” Facility).Kids who go there never have come back, the same at least. My friend Caden went there and he went from a go lucky and silly person, to a shell and serious person. What did he do you ask? He stole a rich guy's car.
There it was..the cracked and shiny hunk of rock. The rock was a deep black color, sinister almost. I slowly output my ki and nickel was dispersing that ki signature to the other side of the room.

“Today I will show dypho middle school the Gem of Nyle!” the fat man in a suit said.
I reasoned with myself that I was maybe throwing my teenage years away, but it was for my family. That's when the lights went off. And you could hear the fat man's guttural yell. The light flickers for a moment. What I saw was a white hair that was thinner than a leef. Wearing a long black cloak. Before I could take more notice of the details, the lights were off again. I lost focus and my blast of wind released. Surprised by that I went flying through the dark, What felt like a couple of seconds. What felt like a necklace came on my neck. Soon after I crashed into a wall.
Brushing off rubble off of my school uniform I was lifted off the ground by my neck.
A ominous voice spoke. “ You must die”
Sheer panic arised as I tried to break his grip. The light came on and the security surrounded the mysterious women. She was beautiful. She had no flaws in her face. Long white hair with dark gray eyes. She let me go and just vanished out of existence. I was dropped on the floor. I was gasping for air. Nickel came and tackled one of the 3 guards.
“GO!” he screamed.
I gathered wind around my body and made a dash towards the doors. As I was running to the door guards came right through the door. I can't go under them or around. But I can definitely go over them. The guard with the spear rushed at me with no hesitation even though I'm a child. I jumped elegantly on the tip of the spear, digging it into the floor. The handle hit in the gut from the instant stop. He fumbled to the ground weeping. I let out a little chuckle. The two other guards had shields and batons. The wind gathered around me increasing my speed, I dispelled it and casted a jump boost on my feet. Just enough to narrowly not hit the top divot of the roof where it touched the door and the guards. I landed on all fours. I got on my legs and made a dash towards the exit. That's when I saw her.
She was standing right outside. The door, this time she had company. Two shadowy figures standing to her right and left. Didn't matter to me. I swirled wind in my palms. I was a few feet away from the glass door. ‘BURST!” I yelled. Blasted right through the glass door.
I gave her the finger before I crashed (luckily) through another glass window. I looked out the once window to see the shadow figures disperse and appear right next to me. She looked at me with a stare that could scare even the great generals. I think she wants the stone. I looked at my neck and the stone was engraved into my body. I clawed at it trying to get it off of my neck. The necklace part seems to be not there. What was there seemed to be dark tattoos surrounding this rock. The two shadows lunged at me and I just barely managed to make a gust of wind to blast me back. They stabbed each other, but they just went through each other. I made a run for it. I took a look back to see the woman float with her arms behind her back and land right in front of where the broken glass was. I turned around and I ran into a man of straight muscle. Dark skinned, bald, hulk of a man.

“Looks like you're a lost boy.” he said in an accent.
“Umm nope” I blasted a current of wind through my palms and a surge of pain came right after. NOT NOW I yelled in my head. I overdid my output. I used too much ki in one go. My cast cut short and the two shadows grabbed my shoulders.
“We're gonna have to kill you boy. Rather not but you have him imbued in you.
“Him?”
Before he could answer my question the museum guard rushed through the door to the stairs. The big black man waved his hand and the mens bodys just bursted like a balloon. Their blood splattered across the wall. That's when I knew I 'd messed up really badly.
“Listen boy, me and my partner want to end this before any value shows up.”
His voice was so silly I couldn't help but laugh. This made him visibly angry.
He looked at me and said “Sleep”
I awoke not the building but it was pure black.
“Where am I? I yelled”
“Why you'd be in your soul” a voice called out.
I turned to look and saw the scariest thing I've seen in my whole twelve years of life. The scariest looking bathtub I’ve ever seen.
“Why the hell am I bathtub? The voice called out.
The scary looking bathtub transformed into what could be called the pinnacle of fitness. He was looking at his palm.
“Are you more scared of that bathtub than me?” he asked.
“Yup!’
“That makes no sense, but let me fill you in. Those 2 on the outside want me, or want my prison more exactly”
“What?”
“Too long to explain, let me take control of your body and I'll take care of them for you, deal?”
“How do I know if I can trust you?”
“I can only be outside of my prison for a couple seconds, and that took me hundreds of years.
“Well I'll die if I don't trust this old man.”
“Old man?!”
“You just said hundred of years?”
“Well in human years I'm only 25!”
Character pov Prisoned spirit.
Seems like the boy let me out. The boy's body was small so I grew it out. I grew the boy's body into its peak potential. The once fitting uniform soon tore off until this body was completely bare.
“THE HOST HAS TOOK CONTROL!” the woman said over a cellphone.
I watched through the boys' eyes. The woman was a calm and serious type. She broke down after she saw the Power niyphen take control over a host.
“I seriously lucked out! This boy’s body is an endless well of potential.” I said
I took a guess and assumed I had only 4 seconds before I was forced back into my jail. Before the white haired woman could say another word I detached her head from her body. Like picking an apple off a tree. I contorted my body and threw the decapitated head at the black man and that sheer force of my throw launched him threw this building and about 3 buildings back.
“Back I go”
Character pov Marco.
I woke up screaming. I was naked and afraid. But my body hasn't changed in any way and I wasn't hurt. I looked around and saw a headless body of the woman. Did he do that? Too late to ask questions. I took off her cloak and covered myself. I jumped off the building and slowed my fall with wind. Yet again I overclocked and fell to the ground.
Guards quickly gathered around me. I coated myself in the wind and made a dash towards where my house was. I tried to talk to the guy in my head but there was no response.
I was almost there. I practically hopped from block to block until I reached the part of dypho city I lived in. I turned the corner to see my apartment building was clear. I rushed to the third story room 54. I opened the door and ran into my room. I quickly got dressed and went to find my mother. I walked into her room and gave her, her medication.
‘“How was the field trip” She coughed”
“It was good, but please save your strength mom.”
I watched as she swallowed that large pill with a gulp of water. She was sickly thin, a once fit thirty-four year old woman looked like an old sixty year old lady. Her hair was turning grayer and grayer by the day.
‘Ok mom i'll be back I have to pick Lydia up from the neighbors. Be home soon.
Lydia was my baby sister. We gave her to a close friend while I was at school.
I approached at room 67 and I gave a solid 4 knocks.
“Coming!’ I knew that voice was their gorgeous daughter moana. She was way older than me though she is 16 and I'm 12.
“Oh, it's you marco. Come in, your sister is eating some soup. She said with a smile”
Trying to hide my blushing I scurried into the room to see my sister messily eating soup and watching bobomelon. I grabbed her and said ‘We don't have time to stay, sorry”
Moana came over and kissed my sister on the forehead and I walked out the door.. I walked down the steps.. I instantly knew something was wrong. Our door was open. I ran into our apartment and into my mom's rooms. She was held up by the big black man. He was roughed up badly. He turned and looked and me and gave a scary smile.
“There you are.. Boy!”
He dropped my mother and was about to punch me but, my mom. She jumped in front of the blade fist. His arm piercing right through her….,
“MOM!’ I broke down in tears and Lydia started crying.
My mom started to smile while blood flowed out of her mouth.
“Live.” She touched both me and Lydia and we started glowing. My mom didn't have any magic.. This had to be a ki art. Me and Lydia shot out and we separated. We were high up in the sky. I tried to reach my sister but the golden aura was pulling us apart. I cried desperately trying to go back down to at least die with my mother. I pleaded with whatever higher being there was to let me fight. But it was to no avail. Soon after me and my sister blasted away at breakneck pace in opposite directions.

The Girl from the Mountain
Alexandra Bedford is a weapon, a young woman with telekinetic powers capable of leveling entire cities, born to fight in the desolate remains of post-apocalyptic North America. There is only one problem: she may be losing control of her abilities. Sixteen years after a global pandemic devastated the earth’s population, the lines in the old United States have been drawn between the Cheyenne Directorate in Colorado and the New England Alliance on the East Coast. The Directorate, of which Alexandra is a part, is a small but powerful organization dedicated to returning the country to its former glory. However, when a diplomatic mission to the New England Alliance goes wrong, Alexandra finds herself at the center of a bloody civil war. Battles are fought on the old highways and in dilapidated towns and once-great cities. And as the conflict escalates, all of North America faces the threat of being burnt away by nuclear fire. Against this backdrop of war, Alexandra tries to uncover the long-hidden secrets behind the plague, her abilities, and the two men fighting to decide the fate of the United States - Henry Bedford, Alexandra's father and leader of the Directorate, and John Martin, the mysterious figure at the heart of the New England Alliance who may hold the key to everything she seeks. None of this will matter, however, unless Alexandra can prevent the power growing inside her from taking over and consuming the very world she is fighting to save. Author's Notes: I appreciate you taking a look at my novel, The Girl from the Mountain. If you're a fan of post-apocalyptic fiction, military thrillers, and/or cosmic horror, I think you'll enjoy this story. I completed the novel's first draft back in 2011 and made significant changes in 2016. Since then, I've more-or-less sat on the manuscript while working on other projects. Thanks to a bit of prodding, I've decided to send this story out into the wild with some touch-ups and additional revisions. I welcome any comments or criticisms, and I hope you enjoy The Girl from the Mountain!
8 227Starvation March : Voidborn
Born from the void, a being is finally given the greatest gift possible: Life. It's very core composed of endless slaughter and an even more neverending hunger, how will this being cope with the rest of the universe? Shunned due to it's past, hated because of it's powers and it's loved ones in peril, how far will this being go in order to continue living happily? Embracing it's nature, carrying slaughters and unspeakable horrors, these are mere trivialities for the being. After all, it's not known as the Slaughterer for nothing. [In case you don't know, this is a redo of Starvation March. The synopsis is kinda shit, but still. I tried.]
