《Chaotic Legacy》Chapter 27: Preparations

"Why is Lapsa in your room?" Cayden asked Riley once the stern man left.
Riley turned his attention to Cayden, "Because he exploded himself fighting against Onyx, I don't even know how he did it."
Cronix turned away, he knew his formations had something to do with it, he felt the formations disappear at some point when they were running away from the guards after Cayden exploded his flawless star.
"Is he going to be okay?" Cronix asked.
Riley shifted his attention to Cronix,
This is the one who killed Tornic...
However it wasn't Riley who answered him, but Cayden, "Of course he's going to be okay, because if he isn't, I'm going to kill Onyx." While his tone was light, there was a dark look in Cayden's eyes that made Cronix believe him.
Riley rolled his eyes, "It's not going to come to that because he's fine, he just needs to rest. Now to why I'm here."
Cayden felt something bad was about to happen, then he literally felt it hit his chest, it was backed up by a flawless five star Caster's power.
Cayden was instantly launched into the wall, he would've broken through if Riley didn't control his strength.
Cronix frowned, but he stayed where he stood.
"Are you crazy Cayden!? You're risking everything for what, a magic bag?!" Riley's anger caused little sparkles to appear around him.
Cronix looked at Cayden and Cayden met Cronix's gaze, they were both thinking the same thing, "Riley, do you have the magic bag on you right now?" Cayden asked very slowly.
Riley frowned, "Why are you so focused on the magic bag?"
"Do you have it?" Cayden asked again.
"Yeah." Riley said, taking out the magic bag from his pocket and tossing it to Cayden.
Cayden caught the magic bag and tossed it to Cronix. Cronix opened the bag and took out the book they were trying so hard to obtain.
"What's that?" Riley asked.
Cronix looked at Cayden, who nodded, before handing RIley the book.
"Introduction to Formations, Volume one, by Matthew Ezerta... Matthew Exerta..." Riley kept repeating the name like it meant something.
"Oh my..holy sh..." Riley couldn't form any phrases that fully expressed his current emotions.
Cronix looked at Riley like he was crazy and Cayden looked stunned.
Riley was finally able to calm himself down, "Do you guys not know who Matthew Exerta is... Oh who am I kidding, how could you guys know who Matthew Exerta is? Well let me tell you who he is, Matthew Exerta is a genius in formations, he created the mind structure technique, I don't know how it works, but it's said to speed up mental energy production in the mental expanse at least 10 fold."
Riley had to take a deep breath before continuing, "He was also part of the Immortal Ring, the group in which consisted of the Luminescence Kingdom's current King, as well as the Holy Knight's current grandmaster, Grandmaster Erica, Holy Knight Aaron, the Ice Empress, the late queen, a demi-human and a demon."

"A demon?" Cronix raised an eyebrow.
Riley nodded, "Yeah, a demon was part of their group as well."
"Okay, I get that the author is some famous guy, but why are you so excited?" Cayden asked, standing up from his spot on the floor.
"Do you know how rare his books are? Even if I used all of the Ayuna family's money, I wouldn't be able to find one." Riley looked at the book with greed, but he knew better than to steal, so he gave it back to Cronix.
"Anyways, I can't stay here for long, you guys caused too much of a disaster. Oh, before I forget, I order you to say you were with me last night to any Ayuna who asks, if anyone wants to elaborate further on that topic, you were helping me create ice sculptures for Onyx's birthday party, and those ice sculptures were of the Ayuna ancestors."
Both Cronix and Cayden felt something activate at the back of their necks.
Cayden looked at Riley, "Thank you."
Riley nodded and left the room to take care of the problems they've created.
Cronix opened the magic bag again to make sure everything was still inside, "Oh crap, I completely forgot about you."
"What did you forget about?" Cayden asked, now laying on his bed, staring at the roof.
"I have the corpse of a star core Magician in this bag." Cronix casually responded.
Cayden immediately perked up, "You say it like it's nothing."
Cronix smiled, "Get some sleep, I'm going to be here all night."
...
Lapsa woke up in an unknown place, he was in a bed more comfortable than he could've ever imagined, its size was huge, if Cayden and Cronix were here, they could all use the bed at the same time and still have plenty of space between the three of them.
Lapsa looked around the room, everything here looked expensive, there were even ice sculptures in the room.
This is definitely a room in the manor, but whose room is it?
Lapsa heard the door suddenly open, he turned to see young master Riley at the doorway, Lapsa's eyes narrowed and he crossed his legs.
"You're awake? That's good, Cayden is waiting for you in your guys room. I already gave them the bag." Riley said, as he took out a vial of yellow liquid with leaves, and in his other hand were five yellow pills with spots in them.
Lapsa looked surprised, but that didn't stop him from looking at the items like they were poison.
"Are you the potion or pill type of person?" Riley asked.
Lapsa didn't answer.
Riley sighed, "Look, these are for healing, these are made by the sap and leaves of the Mender tree, they're not harmful."
Lapsa looked down,
Cayden trusts young master Riley, I guess I should too.

Lapsa looked up, "I'll take the pills."
Riley nodded and handed Lapsa the pills, "You should get going, but one last thing, I order you to tell any Ayuna who asks where you were yesterday night that you were with me, helping me create ice sculptures of the Ayuna founders for Onyx's birthday."
Lapsa felt the slave seal activate, there was a bright glint in his eyes as he nodded his head.
Lapsa quickly left the room, he took one of the pills and threw it in his mouth. The pill quickly broke down and was absorbed by Lapsa's body, all his injuries from the explosion were quickly healed.
The time was just past midnight, and while things have slightly calmed down, there were still countless guards.
Lapsa quickly made his way to their room, when he entered, Cayden was still awake watching something on the floor, near his bed that was out of his view.
Lapsa couldn't see Cronix, but his bed was moved across the room. "What are you doing?"
Cayden didn't answer, but beckoned him over. Lapsa could see Cayden was slightly injured, so he tossed him a pill.
Cayden caught the pill, and raised an eyebrow. Lapsa only muttered, "A gift from young master Riley."
Cayden nodded and popped the pill inside his mouth, his injuries quickly healing. Lapsa turned away from Lapsa and finally spotted Cronix, he was drawing something on the floor, "Hey Cronix, do you need a pill?" Lapsa asked.
Cronix waved his hand, "I'm fine, but thanks."
Lapsa frowned as he watched Cronix draw, "I didn't know we had paint?"
"It's not paint, it's blood, a Star Core Magician's blood." Cayden's his voice contained traces of excitement as he said this.
Lapsa's eyebrows raised, "How did we manage to get that?"
"The crow came across it the day we were captured, I'm surprised they didn't take this out and put it in a more secure location." Cronix muttered, when he mentioned the crow, Cronix glanced at Lapsa, who looked away.
"Cronix, how come you could do 11 lines in a few minutes, but it takes an hour for you to do twenty." Cayden asked while playing with his rings, his patiences was running thin.
Cronix was getting annoyed, "Cayden, do you want this to explode on us, or for this to actually work?"
Cayden held his hands up as a sign of resignation. Lapsa looked at the two of them and sighed, he went on his bed and got comfortable.
Cronix couldn't afford to rush anything, he checked the book three times before putting on any lines. Yet even with his turtle pace, his mental energy was running dry.
Cronix had to take a break, he sat in a comfortable position and preformed Cognitive Gathering. Strands of mental energy slowly started replenishing his mental expanse.
By the time the servants were required to be up and about, Cronix's eyes were burning and he only drew seven primary lines, and 21 secondary lines.
Cayden looked at Cronix, unlike him, he was able to get some sleep, but he didn't feel reflesh in the slightest.
"Did you get any rest?" Cayden asked, getting off of bed, and walking up to Lapsa's bed.
"No, but my mental energy is enough to help me last through the day." Cronix replied, moving his bed to its original position, the formation was now hidden under the bed.
Cayden woke up Lapsa and the three of them quickly got dressed. They didn't waste time going to the roll call for servants, not even Cayden dared to be late after what happened yesterday.
The three actually got to the entrance of the manor early, getting in line with the other few servants who also arrived early.
After a few minutes, the rest of the servants arrived and so did the people in charge of the roll call.
As always head butler Ortan was in charge, but now two new people were with him, which Lapsa recognized as young master Riley, and young master Onyx.
Onyx looked at the servants, he was certain whoever broke into Topaz's room last night was in this group.
Head butler Ortan was also analyzing every servant, but his eyes stopped on a certain demi-human, where he then leaned towards Onyx and whispered something in his ear.
"The Earth Badger?" Onyx asked the head butler.
Ortan nodded.
"You over there, come here!" Onyx announces, pointing at Cayden.
Cayden felt a sensation at the back of his neck, before his legs began moving on their own.
When he was in front of the three, Onyx sized him up before shaking his head, "He's not the one who broke in yesterday."
Ortan shook his head, "I heard there were two other intruders in the Ayuna residence, Cayden was gone when this happen, if he is one of those people it would be easier to find out who else was involved."
Riley frowned, "This is a waste of time, I already confirmed he was with me yesterday night."
Ortan smiled, "Young master Riley, this is only a precaution, every hole must be filled."
"Are you doubting me, butler Ortan?" Riley emphasized Butler, reminding Ortan of his position.
"This would be quick Riley, so we're not losing too much time." Onyx interjected.

The Cosmic Interloper
Synopsis: A cyborg transhuman escapes her corporate indenture and through unfathomably unlikely circumstances, she ends up in a fantasy world of full of unique magic, angry people with sharp implements, and the whole flavor-spectrum of divine entities. Hilarity ensues. Features: - No blue boxes or cultivation, this is not a LitRPG nor about martial arts - Hard-ish Sci-Fi meets hard-ish magic - Generally trying to keep this "rational" Rationale: My primary goal with The Cosmic Interloper is to write something that I myself would enjoy reading. Of course, that’s not the only motivation, but I think it’s the most important one for me to keep in mind, especially as the author. In fact, this whole story came about because after consuming oodles of fiction, I found myself craving a very specific type of story which I couldn’t find many examples of. Then I asked myself, “why not write it myself?” and here we are. Disclaimer: In general, while I’m not writing a comedy, I do intend for this story to be funny and a bit wacky or absurd. That said though, I am using this story as a vehicle to explore some potentially dark topics including (but not limited to) slavery, speciesism/racism, and existential questions of self, consciousness, and identity. Still, I’m going to leave the “traumatizing content” tags off, because I don’t feel that what I’ve written so far (or plan on writing) exceeds the threshold that would be necessary for me to tag it thusly. Also, [insert your favorite boilerplate “views expressed” disclaimer here]. I shouldn’t need to say this, but the main character can be wrong on occasion (gasp!) and the way she views the world is not the objective truth (if such a thing even exists).

RETURN, A Dark Lord story.
Return, Synopsis In the Triangulum Galaxy, one of a number of galaxies controlled by the Empire of The DARK LORD, JENNA OF CHRISTOS finds herself on the run after she killed a patrolman. Becoming pilot on a pirate craft, several years later she and other pirates are devastated by attacks of the Imperial Legion and are now trying to regroup. Seeking funds that will help them hide out for a time, their leader THURGOD DRISTA and JENNA meet with a PROFESSOR of galactic history who gives them information, a map and an ancient artifact described as a singing stone. He tells them that this could lead them safely to a legendary treasure trove, called THE DARK LORDS HOARD, on the forbidden planet TRILLA. The hoard is supposed to belong to the ruler of the empire who vanished close to one thousand years before and is presumed to be gone. The treasure is believed to be hidden in a tunnel accessible from the planet surface but no one who has gone into the tunnel has ever come out alive or sane. Leaving the pirate hideout immediately after the meeting and avoiding a major attack by the legion, the pirates travel to the galactic rim for supplies and to leave a false trail. With them they take the PROFESSOR and ILISA, a serving girl. However CAPTAIN TRASKA the commander of a Legions task force called Detachment T, has guessed the pirates intentions and tracked them to the rim. The pirates leave on their next leg to TRILLA unaware that CAPTAIN TRASKA with his force of heavy cruisers, is already there and lying in wait for them. Allowing the pirates to land, including an unexpected second pirate ship, CAPTAIN TRASKA sends a force of troopers to capture both craft and their guards. Before they can do this, THURGOD, the PROFESSOR and others, numbering thirteen altogether and led by JENNA entered the tunnel complex. JENNA, warned by ILISA that she must be the one to hold the singing stone, carries it in the hope that it will guide her and her companions past the many dangers in the tunnel. Shortly afterward, VIS VISTRICER the Legions overall commander travels to Trilla in an armoured planetoid, a spacecraft as large as a moon. On his arrival at TRILLA, VIS VISTRICER meets with CAPTAIN TRASKA but before they can do much, they are both surprised by one of the LADIES OF THE CIRCLE who is waiting for the outcome of what is happening in the tunnels. In the tunnels, JENNA leads THURGOD and the rest of party through many dangers and tests. Four are killed in the tunnels but the rest finally come to their goal where, to their surprise, in a cavern they meet the DARK LORD who is alive and very well. He has been waiting for them so he can return to the Empire. JENNA finds out that the patrol officer is alive and that she and many others have been manipulated all this time by the DARK LORD. She also finds out that ILISA, whose real name is JURA, is a member of the CIRCLE OF LADIES and was sent to teach JENNA many years before on her home planet of Christos. The DARK LORD restores and fulfills a promise to release JURA from her service as a LADY. He next has each pirate declare their own fate and takes them to the surfaces of TRILLA. There, at their election, he executes two of the pirates while JENNA is pardoned and some have the death penalty reprieved. The rest will face the courts of the Legion. VIS VISTRICER is raised to the rank of STAR COMMANDER, the highest rank in the Legion while TRASKA becomes a COMMODORE. The DARK LORD returns to Tihab, the administrative centre of the empire. There he takes up his residence in a surprised and disconcerted imperial palace. JENNA is returned by COMMODORE TRASKA to the planet Christos where she is welcomed by the planets rulers and her family, some of whom were aware of some of what was happening.
