“Uhhhhhhhhhhhhh!” the boy shouted in the air, with him colliding into the Jungle under him. The branches on the tree and his almost-dead jet pack did save his life. He fell from the vine that was holding him. His blood diffused out of his blue rag, into the jet pack on his back, into the grass under him, into the bushes next to him, and into the shining magical flowers with shining pollens floating in the air. He lay on the ground with his jet pack still on his back. A branch pierced through his belly. Others perforated through other parts and remained bleeding holes and wounds on his body. Brief faint breaths came out from his nostrils, weaker and weaker.
“Intruder detected! Intruder detected!” The mechanic female voice surrounded Glanexeem’s bedroom. “I will get you back into components if it’s some passerby again.” The man with ivory white skin rolled down from his snowy king bed with his coppery quilt on the ground, too. He reached out his right hand to his wooden nightstand. His palm nestled on the tabletop, swinging to find his red glasses. He swept down his glasses to the floor. As he put on his glasses, a casement-window-size glass plate dropped down from the pure white roof and levitated in front of the man. The glass screen showed a brown child bleeding upon his underground base. “What a fuck?” The man stood up with his left hand adjusting his glasses and right hand againsting the bed. “Still alive? ” he asked with two frowned brows. “Estimated that he’s going to die in 5 minutes.” that mechanic voice answered. “So I guess I just have to let him in. Get him into the operating room, thank you,” the man sighed and opened the light-copper-colored wardrobe next to him.

He took out a tight white dress suit. As he buttoned up his black buttons with his left hand, a brown blazer was taken out of the wardrobe. Then a light purple neckerchief with green flowers on it was also put on his neck. The man looked into the mirror on the inner side of the wardrobe door. His sight swung from his black leather shoes and dirty blue pegged trousers to his brown fabric fedora. Striding toward the front door, he had his copper frame blue sunglasses on.
The man entered the coppery sickroom. The boy in a coma lay on the only white bed in the corner of the room. His previous clothes and the jet pack were all heaped aside. The man lifted up that jet pack, which the style didn’t fit the child at all. He sat on the seat at the diagonal opposition to the kid’s bed. He gazed at the jet pack. The jet pack was made of three parts. The chassis was just a piece of black plate with a pair of straps that wasn’t adjusted to the size that fit the kid. It seemed like some adults took it off and gave it to the kid in an emergency. Between the chassis and the front part of the backpack, a pair of white airfoils extended from the 4 inches slit. A pattern of blue flame was covering the windward edge of both airfoils. The front part of the jet pack was made of a tank, a vent at the bottom, and three rectangular sockets on the upper part of the tank. The man knocked on the white tank. The empty metal sound that was made proved his theory. In some way, this jet pack could store air in the tank and jet them out with the vent. Three audiotapes were plugged in the sockets. The man pulled them out and realized these weren’t audiotapes. They were rectangular batteries that stored the power of magic in them. He could feel the remaining micro mana diffused into the surroundings as he pulled out the empty batteries.

“Ehhhh,” the boy groaned on the bed. He rubbed his eyes and got halfway up with his left hand propped on the bed. “Are you fine now?” The man asked with an extra-mild voice. Still, it scared the boy. The boy was stunned and finally realized the situation right now. He obediently sat back on the bed and said, “Who, who are you?”
“Don’t be afraid, kid,” the man stood up, picked the chair up with him, and sat next to the boy’s bed gently. The boy shifted a bit to the wall as the man got closer. “My name is Xilix Glanexeem. How about you?” the man said lithely and slowly.
“I, I’m Jack,” the child answered with a bit vigilant. He didn’t know what Glanexem wanted and would do, but his voice still made him feel a sense of safety.
“Jack, ” Xilix leaned forward and lifted the jet pack in front of Jack, “Can you tell me where did you find this?” yet, he was still in a tender tone.
“I was running, and it just appeared in front of me.” his eyes moved down as Xilix put his sight on him. “And you decided to jump down from nineteen and a half inches with it,” Glanexeem said it immediately after Jack.
He scared the child. “I, I, people was chasing me,” the child’s voice went lower and lower as he said.
“May I ask who was chasing you?” Glanexeem leaned back on his soft backrest with the jet pack next to his chair legs and asked with a conscious pause.
He glanced at Glanexeeem again, then rapidly moved away. “The Guardians,” he answered.
“Who?” Xilix inhaled as an unnatural pause and asked.
“The Guardians, you, you don’t know them?” Jack got confused. He faintly repeated the word again to ensure he didn’t pronounce it wrong. “Yeah, The Guardians,” he repeated it after he assured himself.
“Well, I am a kind of recluse outside Lazary, so…….” Xilix shrugged.
“They…… are armies of the government. They, they,” Drops of tear hung in the kid’s eyes, “they hate us,” even his voice shook a bit, “They kill us.” Jack pulled back his legs from the quilt and hugged himself on the legs.
“Don’t worry, I will deal with them,” Xilix patted on Jack’s shoulder and stood up, “and it’s the time to get back home, Jack.” As the door automatically opened, a movable copper clothes tree with four wheels drove in. A white shirt and a pair of blue bib shorts were on one side of the clothes tree. A black trench coat was on the other side.

Blue Hills
Nothing had ever felt quite right for Alexander Adamson. He'd worked his way up to a job he could tolerate, a few casual friends, and even a nice little apartment that he could call his own, though it really wasn't. The problem was that none of it was satisfying. It was as though he were going through the motions of a life, rather than having one of his own. Of course, it didn't exactly feel right when he woke up in a strange bed in the middle of nowhere. Nor when he was told that he was now the proud owner and operator of a local farm. A farm that had belonged to a late uncle he'd never known. But with the first train out of town a full 'season' away, he had plenty of time to get used to the idea. Plenty of time, perhaps, to even get to like the strange little town of Blue Hills. I have a discord now. Marvel at my ability to somehow still be antisocial on the other side of a screen! Back from hiatus along with my other fiction. Chapters are on a Thurs/Sun schedule until book 3 of that fiction is completed, at which point I'll be updating this daily. At which point uh.... I dunno what I'm going to do.
