《The Break》chapter 11: Back to the Old Me
Advertisement
I was flabbergasted. I do not have the slightest clue how I was able to create … this. The result of my own swing of the blade, the countless weapons floating around me with zero gravity and my clothes. This all came out of nowhere, making my mind freeze. This came all at once and I’m not sure how I should handle all this.
My mind actually felt like it was on Overdrive. Like time was super slow. This may be an illusion. Or just my mind playing tricks on me but I’ll use this for now. I have to understand what was happening. Especially since the old man stopped his attacks as well.
‘Let’s start with that…’
To be precise, the massive cut I created in front of me. It was MASSIVE to say the least. I even think this almost reached the edge of the forest, spraying every part of dirt. Or that is how it’d look like usually but something weird is here. Even weirder than all the other stuff I had to think about.
There were small , dark violet ripples that disappeared and appeared again from time to time. Coupled with the fact that every ripple took a bit of the ground and no actual dirt getting flown away that much like they should makes me think of only one answer. Space.
I just cut the space. Thinking this may be too much for me but the old man did something similar before when he opened a small portal to punch me in the face from afar. Now that I think about it… this crazy old man did create a portal just to punch me once. How bored was he?
But besides the cut it was the floating weapons that started to slowly fade away as well as my clothes and the Ottoman sword, the Kilij, that also made me feel weird at the moment. It felt like I had a certain connection towards them. Like I have known them for years. But this connection started to fade away with the weapons and the clothes I was wearing at the moment. The only connection that didn’t vanish right away was the one in my right hand.
[The Padishah’s Kilij]
That’s what went through my mind when I looked at this blade. A blade worthy only for the King of all Kings. Well that was how strong it was right now but I can tell that it was changing as well. The blade didn’t fade away but instead was changing how it looks. The blade was now metallic silver instead of black and every rune on it was fading away. The handle turned from it’s scaly pattern to a normal cavalry handle in black. The blade itself also shrunk slightly from 1.2 metres to 90 centimetres. But it stayed in my hand. Like it didn’t want to let go.
"What you are seeing is a vision. A small display of your full potential if you may. As you can tell, your cut from right now is your potential power in the future. This is because of all the accumulated Will power that accumulated inside of you gushed out like from a water dam that broke after it was overflowing. The rest is… intriguing. I never saw someone show such a detailed vision of a creation type ability, so seeing you having such detail and beauty in your vision is truly awe inpiring. But I guess this vision won’t stay for long"
And just like saying the magic word , the moment he stopped talking was the moment the visions broke down. Every weapon that was around me floating gorgeously as if they knew they had a reason to be prideful vanished one after another, fading away into the unknown. In the end only my clothes and 8 different weapons stayed for a bit longer before disappearing as well. With the connection, it felt like those 8 were very stubborn to not leave. But the only thing left now is my original sword in its less impressive form.

I didn't know what to say at the moment. I was truly happy that I finally awakened after so long and got to start building up my powers to never again feel hopeless. But I also felt weird too. The result of today was thanks to my parents disappearing. Should I be happy that after more than 200 days that I got what I wanted, or should I lament that the reason that I got what I wanted was because I lost what I had? I truly didn’t know but thinking of this too much will also not help me out. I had to make up my mind!
But that didn’t change the fact that I am officially an awakened now. Yes… I’m not a normal human anymore. I am stronger… I am less helpless! I can start work my ass off and be free to make my own choices without anyone interfering! I have to start training again and right now the time barrier is down because of the call from before. I looked at the old man with determined eyes but my determination didn’T get through to him apparently when he talked again.
"I know what you are thinking and no. The 100 times difference was used to be as fast as possible to awaken your powers which we finally did. Any more in that time difference and we will break your body in time relevance. We will be able to go at a pace of 20 times the difference and that should be enough. But before that I want you to go back to school and get some rest. You can also ask for a week off since you should technically be in a not so great state. Have a bit of rest. Is that clear?"
"But… Fine…"
I honestly wanted to train as hard as possible but hearing that I should rest a bit also made me loosen up a bit. Whenever the old man talked about rest, he meant it. No other way around. So I understand that going against him would only damage me in the long run.
"Good that you understand. Besides… I believe I deserved a bit of rest with some beautiful ladies I saw on the way here. Oh how much fun~. Ehehehe~"
"Pervy old man! So you just wanted to laze around! Can’t even train his disciple for a bit more time."
"You just don't get it. Spending almost a year with a male disciple can almost become torture too! You gotta have the right mindset to overcome this but forcing it won't help the both of us. You get me?"
He said after shrugging his shoulders. His face was screaming ‘Kids these days don't know how to appreciate the Beauty of a beautiful woman’ but it didn’t feel quite real.
"All I hear is a pervert trying to find excuses to flirt with some chicks! And how can this not be considered pedophilia with your age difference!"
"Oh greater Abyss! I'm not attracted to anyone that looks younger than thirty! I don't wanna touch someone younger than that!"
"753 minus 30 is still 723! Whatever! Still can't understand your mindset fully after all this time! And pass me my glasses over!"
"Hm? Oh~ Why do you need your glasses?"
"I'm not sure if you became senile so fast but if you remember I wear them?"
"Why do you need your glasses, boy?"
"For fucks sake! Because I can't see… clearly …"
Wait… I can see clearly… matter of fact, I can see way better than any human should be able to. Like seeing through some binoculars, I could see anything that was 200 metre away very clearly.

"What happened with my eyesight! Was this the effect of Awakening?"
"You got that right! Awakening isn’t just getting superpowers." The old man said while taking off my shirt. I was confused why he did that but then with a flick of his wrist, a body mirror, big enough to let us both see ourselves appeared in front of me.
The first thing I noticed was my hair. It wasn’t dark brown anymore but black with gold and green strands. With my now overgrown hair, I look like some anime character. It felt cool but on the other hand I would rather not stand out like that.
Next were my eyes. Their colour changed to an even weirder way.while my iris’ are extremely black, almost sucking light out of the air, my pupils were golden. If it were the other way around, then this wouldn’t be as questionable since I could just have coloured contact lenses as an excuse to people who know me.
"As you see, your body got refined even more so while slight traces of your Will are already showing like in your hair and eyes. But even before that, you had the body that people yearn for for years and you got that in around 3-4 months not to mention you started with minus points. Your hair and eye’s change of colour came from your awakening which isn’T so unusual but seeing it immediately is something else."
“Is it bad?”
“No. It just means that your Will is stronger than anyone that awakened and had less change in colour since that is the reason why all of your hair changed according to the colour of your Will.”
I remembered that my Will had a colour. Three colours. Seeing that the old man won’t say anything about it means that it either is normal or he will talk about it later. So I don’T have to think about this for now.
“Now comes the question~. What was the reason you already got such a cheat body in so little time? You will get rewarded for a correct answer.”
Now that I think about it, we really only did one thing all this time. So it had to be…
"probably the goo and you torturing me to death."
"And why would you think that~?
"Because you forced me to eat that stuff and I had to withstand your torture sessions under the name of training. So I wish to hope that these things had a purpose like the idea of reconstructing my body with the nutrients in the food. If not I will cry myself to sleep, thank you very much…"
"DING DING DING! SAID PARTICIPANT GETS NEXT FOLLOWING TWO PRIZES! AN ARMBAND AND A PIECE OF ROOOOOOOOOOOOCK!"
What the hell? Neither of them were something I expected. But to be fair, expecting something from someone like him was my mistake to begin with. I took both of my prizes and while I didn’t feel anything from the armband, touching the rock made me feel something. I know what this is. But how? It felt like my ability may be the reason I can understand this and know how to work with this.
"The rock is an ore called Oragilanzium. It's a supernatural ore that is very rare to find in this dimension. It's usually used in the making of certain artefacts with the light attributes. Since your ability is weapon Creation , you'd be able to make something out of it . At least you’ll need that more than me. So take it"
Just mentioning hearing about this ore while my ability was giving me information that made me understand the old man’s words immediately made my blood boil. I got excited! How couldn't I when I was about to test my new ability as well. But before I could do anything, the old man stopped me right there as he knew what I was thinking.
"Don't even think about testing your ability out right away! If you don't have an environment suitable to test it out then you'll only damage yourself or more importantly me!"
I almost couldn't hold myself back to roll my eyes. Why does my teacher gotta be so negative sometimes? Or more importantly, so egotistical. But that elft the question of the other reward, the armband.
"The armband that I gave you is a disguise device made so you can walk around the world without awakening the lust and greed of other people. It’s quite useful when you want to be left alone."
"You are joking , right?"
"Look at yourself in the mirror again if you need to." Said the old man before summoning the mirror yet again.
Now that I had a better look at myself, I realised some key changes about myself. Mainly almost everything besides my face changed. My body looked more chiselled than well trained, the colour of my hair and eyes were in sinc, matching each other and giving a good looking vibe and my skin and face looked clearer than ever! The only downside was my uncut hair. But I can work around this.
The Idea of concealing my achievements left a bitter taste in my mind but how else am I supposed to explain my new look? And having to deal with more people because of my looks or hearing more rumours is something I can live without. Thank you very much.
I put on the armband and like deflating, my appearance slowly turned back to the old me. I didn’t feel my actual muscles disappearing though. It was like seeing myself different than how I felt.
"Remember that this device is just a disguise device. Meaning this works by making you only look like that, not turning you actually like that. If someone touched your body, they could feel your muscles. The device shuts off immediately if it recognizes that it couldn't fool someone properly. But the cases are rare, so it should be fine for normal humans."
"Yeah, got it. Now if we are finished i should better go now. I'll need to go home to prepare my stuff for tomorrow."
I had to prepare my stuff but not that I had to start immediately. The reason why I really wanted to go back home as soon as possible was because I wanted to have some time alone. I am evidently someone whose parents vanished without a trace. Even if the thought of them dying was low because it wouldn’T make sense in this situation, the accident still hit me.
And honestly I still had a little wish of living my rest of my highschool life in peace with my best friend and maybe a girlfriend. But I knew that this wish would never come to fruition after my awakening, which I honestly don’t regret after spending so much time with this old man. Even if most of the time was torture, the rest was enjoyable as the old man was one of the best people I had ever met.
While walking towards the road where everything started with a push, I felt a slight push on my back with a feeling of wood and steel on my back.
I take it back, this fucker is truly someone I would see as the worst people I have ever met.
As I thought about this, I started to fly away like on my first day. The push felt lighter this time but I know this wasn’t true since I flew forward like a living rocket. Only this time did I land on my feet with only some light bruises.
This damn bastard is only having fun with his disciple! I’ll make sure to repay you some day!
Only when I took the things the old man had plastered on my back and saw what they were did I show a slight smile. It was a sword box, temporary for my Kilij until I made a scabbard for myself.
I forgot that I was holding the Kilij all this time. It just felt so natural that I forgot about it but now I saw the sword box which was so high quality that it felt good to put the Kilij inside it. Even the connection with the Kilij made me think it was good for it to be in it.
I put the Kilij into the sword box and carried it on my left side while I was walking back towards the bridge. It was almost sunset now so I should hurry up.
It was time to go back. To be honest, I missed Felix a lot! …And maybe Gina a bit…
But remembering Gina's last look towards me after I got beaten, which was the look of someone who lost interest in a toy, made me think otherwise for a second. It seemed that I immediately lost my value. I understood that there was something behind this gaze but I didn't want to blame her directly.
Something I couldn’t describe didn’t want me to blame her. It was almost unconditional. And it made me have mixed feelings. But not now! Lets just get back.
back to the old me for now. Can't make people realise I changed too much in these 3 days alone… hahahaha…

Asturian Warbringer - A LitRPG on Earth
Currently releasing 5 chapters a week Luke Kells liked only one thing about himself: his green eyes. He hated getting bullied, hated being poor, hated being an orphan, hated his weakness, hated the government, hated his life. If someone had given him a button to push and kill everyone but him and his granddad, he would've done it without a second thought. Then, one day, after fainting during a beating, he woke up with memories that would change his life. Magic, martial arts, how to craft special artifacts; he knew it all. Anyone would’ve taken that path to glory at once. However, he had to deal with a lot on his plate first. To even begin walking that path, Luke first had to deal with his own psychological issues. Almost two years of brutal bullying that was akin to torture and no support from the school staff of the police had left him with a broken soul. Before even realizing he could be rich or powerful, he had to bring himself out of the mental hellhole he found himself in. Oh, and his memories also told him the Sentinel Tower would change reality in six months to protect the planet from the Demonic Horde. But that wasn’t as important as not making the local bully angry, right? A story about personal growth, overcoming obstacles, and reaching absolute glory at the end of the path. This is a slow-paced, character-centered story. If you want something faster paced, filled with almost immediate and nonstopping action, check out my other novel: Modern Awakening - A cultivation, LitRPG, apocalyptic novel. The Kodoku Game
In Japanese folklore, there once existed an ancient technique among alchemists for harvesting the strongest poison known to man. A poison so vicious, so horrendous, that a single drop could incapacitate an entire nation of humans, several times over. A poison so intense that a single drop could turn the tides of a war on its head. As potent as it appeared however, this poison could be harvested from the blood of a single insect alone- an insect the alchemist’s called the ‘Kodoku’. As lucrative as was attaining this poison however, the problem lied in identifying this insect- its appearance, shape and size changed from region to region and from continent to continent. Sometimes it took the appearance of a ladybug and other times a horned-beetle. In order to determine the identity of this special insect the alchemists came up with an ingenious method. They created an impregnable jar of clay out of the best sandstone they could find and placed hundreds of different insects into the same jar. The jar was made with such great mastery that it allowed no insects to escape and allowed no objects to enter. The laws of nature dictated that the insects would remain together in the jar forever. However, it turned out that as time went on, the insects’ hunger for food and power caused them to turn against each other- one insect ate another until only one remained. This sole insect contained a poison that far surpassed that of all the others and became stronger as it ate more and more insects. The alchemists at this point had succeeded in identifying the Kodoku and could extract it’s poison as long as they continued to feed it regularly. Although this folklore ends here, the actual story does not. One day, as the alchemists cheered in joy of having identified the Kodoku they so eagerly wanted, they forgot to close the lid on the very jar that was considered to be completely impregnable. This small gap was just large enough for the Kodoku inside to crawl out. Famished from not having been fed for weeks, the Kodoku ended up eating the very alchemists that nourished its growth until not even the bones remained. Yet, the Kodoku’s hunger didn’t seem to subside in the slightest. So it traveled to the next village and began eating whatever it could find there. Its poison made it unparalleled in strength and slowly but surely it began to dwindle down the population of the entire city. Yet its hunger only continued to grow. So it traveled to the next city over and ate all it could there. Very soon, the Kodoku couldn’t find any more food to eat. There was no one left to eat and no one left to spectate. So it stood there, by itself pondering what possibly was left to eat that could satiate its hunger. But there was one thing left that Kodoku realized it had never eaten. Itself.
