Through sheer will and determination, the puny ant struggled and tried to stand up only to fail, then it turned to it's offender, who was approaching it's Queen.
The Queen's antenna twitched and she retreated in panic and terror, making the attacker rush at her.

As the thing closed up on the Queen, her back pressed against the cave wall, making it grin.

The monster whipped it's antenna back and forth in excitement and slowly walked forward.

The Queen sent out a signal for help, likely her last, as the enemy opened it's jaws, preparing to chomp down on her.
CRACK!
The ant screamed inside it's mind, resonating with it's very soul, then it felt unimaginable power surged forth from deep within it's being, it jumped and practically flew forward and crashed on top of the unsuspecting insect, the latter quickly shook it's head desperately as it's glee turned into panic.
The loyal guard didn't allow it to move more and chomped it's neck with all of it's strength, making it twitched violently for a moment, before becoming still.
The Queen looked at her savior and clattered her jaws in praise of it's actions, but quickly sent out a signal in panic when her brave warrior suddenly fell off the monster's back and stayed completely still.

Finally, yes I was an overweight middle-aged loser failing to live up to my potential. Given my eclectic reading habits I should have been better prepared. Unfortunately I was not. Sure I could multi-class with reduced penalties, but my starting class was Scholar! No combat abilities and very limited spellcasting. My HUD interface costs mana to use, and my universal translation seemed to be outsourced to Giggle Translate. I’m supposed to be an OP MC! Not a slice-o- life struggling to survive in the wilderness. Not to mention the Arch-Magus who summoned me, mistimed everything, I arrived 300 years too late, after the fall of the Empire I was supposed to save. The surviving remnants have devolved into Murder Hobos. What’s worse is that the Great Devourer, Ancient Calamity, and Spawn from the Void Beyond Time, Space, and Sanity is now aware of a new world to plunder, a world called Dirt! (Told you this translator sucks) Warning Extra Crunchy Authorial Vebosity! Lots of infodump in the early chapters, but I learn my lesson and it does get better, eventually.
