《The Records Of Existence》Page 16 Identity

"What makes up your being? What exactly IS 'you'? No one knows for sure, but if your body is made up of millions billions or trillions of cells, then which one is 'you'? Some might say that every cell is a part of your being, but really. If every cell is a part of 'you' then you would lose a part of yourself every single moment of your existence, while new ones replaced them.

That means that you are constantly changing, your body, your mind, even your soul, they're always changing. Is that still 'you'?

What actually defines 'you'? The brain cells that send your memories forward until you expire? I don't think so.

Now let's say that you have a machine that can copy your memories, like taking a picture, in that single frame, your entire existence is duplicated.

What if the original 'you' met the copy 'you'? From the copy's point of view, with the same memories as the original, the copy would think of itself as the original, and it would think that the orginal is the copy, so which one is the actual original, hell, if that happened then would there still be an original or a copy?

Because the moment there're two 'you's, then your memories would begin to branch off, experiencing different things, doing different things, seeing different things. Then the two 'you's would become two different people."

-Drake Sill, The Original 'you'.
