《dreadnaught: scifi apocalypses space marine》chapter 11: Captain York

After the pizza was gone, David decided to relieve himself before getting back into his suit. Remembering how he came out of the suit last time, a privacy barrier was made as he was loaded into it. As they were putting the suit on Captain York came by but found David unable to respond, left, and had a volunteer stand guard. Who Jake naturally started talking to. Of course, David being unable to respond was a ruse to put off the Captain till David was in the best position he could be in.
“ All right David, I recalibrated your suit movement sensitivity. Whatever happened yesterday added a lot of weight to the suit. Over two hundred pounds. So you are going to move a bit slower and sluggish than before.”
“ Alright, sounds reasonable.”
Slowly David stepped forward and took a hold of the M134. Immediately he stored the loaded 5.56 in it back to his skill and gripped it to be leisurely carried in his right hand as his left took his revolver and reloaded it with better rounds.
[M134 (Modified, Soulbound)
A rapid-firing siege weapon that specializes in anti-light armor. Firing 7.62 nato (1-2 damage) at a rate of twenty a second. When no physical ammo is present, has a secondary fire mode that uses a mana crystal to deal (1-3 damage) light magic damage at a rate of twenty times a second. All damage doubled against light or unarmored opponents.]
[‘Stargaze’ revolver (Legendary, Soulbound)
A one-of-a-kind five-shot revolver designed to be used by power armor wearers. This first-of-its-kind weapon was upgraded to Legendary. (250 damage per shot, armor piercing)
“...” (quote made by the owner, the first Dreadnaught)]
David got a chuckle from the quote. He figured he had not said anything noteworthy yet, Then the sinking feeling truly hit him. What has happened? What he can imagine that will happen. He closed his eyes and slowly put the revolver back on his hip.

“ I hope the day never comes. I have to use you against my fellow kind.”
Hearing David says that as he watched him reload the revolver, Jake moved to his side.
“ Adam will take you to the Captain. We’ll stay here and make sure nobody messes with your equipment.”
David just gestured with his left hand and Adam, the soldier, led David to the center of the convention, where the area was already cleaned and cleared and made into a semi-fortified command center. Where the Captain was already swamped with reports and paperwork.
“ No solute soldier?”
David looked at the Captain then at some of the other officers helping him out.
“ Do you see bars or tags on this suit? I am a civilian contractor.”
This caught the Captain by surprise and it could be told by his pause but not by looking at him.
“ Very well, then I guess the first order of business we need to discuss is you handing over your hardware.”
David took a very deliberate and obvious look around and turned back to Captain York.
“ No.”
This caused a few of the soldiers to tighten the grips on their guns, obviously nervous.
“ That is obviously military-grade hardware you got. Don’t be difficult.”
David took a deep breath and grabbed his revolver slowly. Lifting it up to display to all those around.
“ This is a registered civilian sidearm. I have both permits and permission to carry this weapon in this venue.”
David then slowly returned it to his hip then withdrew a special 7.62 prop round from his depo, David had Jake look up for him.
“ As for the monster on my right, this is one of a hundred rounds I got for realism's sake. It is an overweight prop with a laser pointer inside it.”

David suddenly gripped both grips of the minigun and started spinning it up. Pointing at a wall a red flashing dot appeared. This, at first caused the soldiers to raise their weapons up in alarm before a few of them started laughing realizing the M134 was an oversized paperweight. But they did not know he had the secondary fire setting to the minimal setting. If they paid closer attention they would have noticed a small burn mark appearing on the wooden wall. Having kept his finger pressed for less than a second, he let the barrels wind down before taking the equipment in a more comfortable hold again.
“ And the suit?”
David knew this was coming.
“ Not for sale.”
The Captain seemed to blink physically stunned by the unexpected response.
“ What do you mean, not for sale? Obviously, that is military equipment.”
David could not help but laugh.
“ This suit was made by Gai Spar Manufacturing. Which I am the owner and sole proprietor of.”
[Charisma check... Business class buff... Failed.]
“ Do you seriously believe that I would fall for something so simple? Where is the proof?”
David sighed deeply.
“ I have the patent information and ownership papers back with my people. You can ask John to send you digital copies.”
This caused the Captain to smirk.
“ In a situation such as this, when martial law is announced, someone in what some might consider lethal attire...”
David could not resist anymore and began to laugh and laugh hard. It took well over a minute for him to calm down.
“ Me, what about those kids with lightsabers able to cut people in half? Or Charle’s people? I am sure as hell not seeing you harass them.”
David then quick-draw his revolver and pointed it at the Captain.
“ And do not forget I know I have the right to bear arms, especially against my oppressors, Captain. My mother died on the streets of Washington in the great protest massacre. My father died a soldier for this country.”
David slowly lowered his weapon to his side but did not put it away.
“ Now tell me why they are not getting the same treatment.”
The Captain swallowed hard realizing he had crossed the line. Especially, legally, David was in the right after the rewrite of the constitution to follow more up-to-date practices and understandings.
“ They have already agreed to help us protect the people.”
David laughed lightly and put the revolver back on his hip.
“ Seriously, you should have led with that. What do you need me to do?”
