《A Hero Among Us》Chapter 103 "Iota's Endgame, Part 1"

The asteroid begins careening towards the coliseum.
Iota: WHAT WILL YOU DO NOW, COLOSSUS?
Colossus: You’re mad! If that thing connects with the ground, it will kill everyone on this planet, including you!
Iota smiles.
Iota: I know, but that won’t happen. You won’t let it, and you’ll die even if it does.
Colossus: *frustrated grunt* Damn you!
Iota: That’s what I thought.
Iota has a sinister glint in his eye.
Iota: (There’s no way he can destroy that asteroid without using the full power of the ring! I’ll finally expose him to the world for the hack he is!)
Colossus cracks his knuckles and smiles.
Iota: Huh?
Colossus: I know what you’re up to. I’m not that foolish.
Iota: So you’re smart now? The only way you can live is by revealing that you’re a liar, so get on with it!
Colossus starts stretching his legs.
Colossus: You know, it’s not intelligent to launch a meteor of death towards yourself and all of your followers.
Iota: I know you hero types! You aren’t going to let all of these people in the stands die, right?
Colossus looks out at the crowd of Iota’s followers, which includes: Jagger, Mara, Julio, Yusuf, Wyatt, and Marsh.
Colossus: You mean the villains in the stands?
Iota: Hm?
Colossus: Part of being a hero is assessing your opponent and determining if lethal force is necessary to protect civilians. You’re handing me the opportunity to wipe out your entire criminal network in one fell swoop, the same network killing innocent people as we speak. Not to mention your prior killings, attacks, and robberies over the last year. This is too good of an opportunity to pass up.
Iota’s eyes widen.
Iota: WHAT! BUT YOU’LL DIE TOO!
Colossus smiles.
Colossus: Who said anything about that?
Colossus leaps into the air and latches onto the asteroid.
Iota: What!
Colossus begins climbing the asteroid.
Colossus: *yelling down* Bet you didn’t think about this now, did you?
Iota looks pissed off.
Iota: DAMN YOU!
Iota collects himself.
Iota: (I never thought he’d be willing to kill the crowd… I guess I underestimated him. Whatever, I have an out.)
The Iota Ring glows as the asteroid comes to a halt.
Colossus: Hm? What’s this? It’s stopped.
Iota: I’ll send you into deep space instead!
The asteroid slowly begins moving upward.
Colossus: I was hoping you’d do that!
Iota: Huh?
Colossus runs to the bottom of the asteroid and launches himself towards Iota with his arm cocked back.
Colossus: I’ve got you now!
Iota is shocked.
Colossus: COLOSSAL IMPACT!
Colossus punches Iota and smashes him into the dirt. He goes 6 feet into the ground, and a dust cloud covers them.
Colossus: Well, would you look at that? I just dug your grave.
Colossus leaps out of the dust cloud and looks into the sky to see the asteroid drifting into space.
Colossus: (Looks like it won’t be colliding with Earth or any other planet, that’s good.)
The crowd is deathly silent.
Colossus: It’s been a long time since I last needed to concoct a strategy to defeat my opponent. Usually, a single punch is all I need.
Colossus laughs.
Colossus: You “mastermind” types are all alike. Despite your arrogant tone, I knew that you wouldn't have left yourself open had I decided not to destroy the asteroid. So I jumped it knowing that you’d stop it yourself. I knew your “reverse damage” trick had something to do with your ring, so if I distracted you with something else, you couldn’t use it to save yourself.
Everyone watching on Earth rejoices over Colossus' victory.

Zach: Man, what a hit!
Jace: That guy was a fool for taking on Colossus!
Gus: He never stood a chance!
Eve: I hope that guy didn’t suffer any more brain damage than he already had.
Colossus turns to the crowd.
Colossus: Now, will someone return to Earth so I can-
The crowd gasps.
Colossus: Huh?
Iota is standing right behind Colossus unharmed.
Colossus: What!
Colossus looks at the site where Iota impacted the ground, but nothing is there.
Colossus: (How?)
Iota laughs.
Iota: You’ll never defeat me without using the full power of the ring, Colossus.
Iota holds up his hand with the ring on it.
Iota: Without this, you’d have killed me just seconds into this battle. Defeating an opponent with a ring is near impossible without one of your own.
Colossus is sweating.
Iota: I can see it in your eyes. You’re trying to find a way to overcome my power the way you always have: punching really hard. But I’m the first opponent you’ve ever faced that’s even close to your level, and without using your ring’s full strength, you stand no chance against me.
Iota points at Colossus.
Iota: You are faced with a choice! Either “A,” continue fighting the way you have been and die at my hand! Or “B,” Use your ring to its full potential and reveal to your brainwashed fanbase that you’re not the man you’ve claimed to be for the last two decades!
Iota laughs maniacally.
Iota: I’VE TRAPPED YOU, COLOSSUS! IT’S EITHER DIE OR REVEAL YOUR FACADE. PICK ONE!
Colossus takes a deep breath.
Iota: (Hm? Is he trying to stay calm? Why? He’s faced with two impossible options, no man could remain steady at a time like this.)
Colossus: Given everything you’ve said so far, it sounds to me like you’d much prefer that I’d choose the latter, correct?
Iota: What are you on about?
Colossus: You claim you’re going to kill me if I don’t comply with your demands, yet you haven’t killed me yet. You’ve had three open shots at my back, and you’ve chosen to talk rather than attack each time. Why is that?
Iota doesn’t respond.
Colossus: It sounds like you have an agenda here and want nothing more than to complete it. You keep presenting me with sets of options, but it's clear which one you prefer I choose. You’re trying to make this into a mind game where it seems I have no free will, but I do. If you want me to do something, make me do it yourself. Stop hiding behind your needless games and fight me for real!
Iota stares at Colossus for a few moments.
Colossus: Judging by your lack of a response, I can tell I hit the nail on the head!
Iota: *frustrated grunt*
Zaire looks concerned.
Zaire: (This isn’t like Master. Even an idiot could see through these obvious ploys of his. So why would Colossus actively choose the option that Master wants him to choose? Master is usually so methodic and intelligent with his plans, but he’s acting differently. He’s waited for this day for so long… he’s allowing his excitement to get the better of him.)
Iota looks pissed, while Colossus has a smile on his face.
Zaire: (Master is in complete control of this match, but you couldn’t tell by his demeanor. Colossus is no strategist, but his years of experience in combat shine through. He knows Master’s game and refuses to play it, even if it means putting himself at a disadvantage. He’s the symbol of peace, alright, smiling in the face of a far superior opponent.)

Colossus leaps back to create distance between himself and Iota.
Colossus: (He’s right, he’s the first opponent I’ve ever faced that’s made me sweat since, well… I became the number 1 hero. I can’t use the power of my own ring, it’s boosting my strength, but if I wanted to maximize its power, it would glow through my gloves and reveal itself. He could care less about defeating me until he’s unveiled my secret. I have to figure out how to beat the Iota Ring on my own, which will be quite the challenge. Although, the rings have a very distinct weakness that I have to take advantage of.)
Iota cracks his neck.
Iota: You want me to force you to use the ring, huh? Well, be careful what you wish for… BECAUSE YOU MIGHT JUST GET IT!
The Iota Ring glows as Iota creates five large boulders using Planetary Creation.
Iota: Planetary Creation: Orbital Annihilation!
The five boulders surround Colossus creating a ring as they circle around him.
Colossus: (What’s this?)
Suddenly Colossus feels a strong force against his body, he tries to move forward, but he physically can’t.
Colossus: Huh? Why can’t I move!
The boulders inch closer to Colossus tightening the ring and applying more force to his body.
Colossus: AHH!
Iota moves closer to Colossus.
Iota: I’ve created five small planets, each with its own orbit. They’re surrounding you, and their combined force is slowly crushing you to death.
Colossus tries to move, but the force is too strong.
Iota: Tell me, do you know what happens when planets collide?
Colossus: Enlighten me.
Iota: Astronomers say there were more than just eight planets in our galaxy, but some of the planets ran into one another. When they smash together, they create a single, larger world.
Colossus’ eyes widen.
Colossus: You’re planning to crush me to death with your planets?
Iota: Correct, and your remains will be atomized within the confines of the new, more giant planet they created.
Colossus laughs.
Colossus: I thought you wanted me to use this “ring” you’ve been talking about, and you want it for yourself by the sounds of it. How are you going to accomplish either of those things?
Iota: You think I need another ring? Once you’re dead, I’ll be the strongest person on Earth with just the Iota Ring! Not to mention I’ll hunt down and collect the other eight rings! Your ring is irrelevant! I’ll crush it and you and return to Earth with zero opposition for the rest of my plans!
Colossus still has a smile on his face.
Colossus: Once again, another bluff. You’re as transparent as glass. I know you won’t-
Iota tightens the ring of planets further.
Colossus: AHHH!
Iota: No more bluffs, no more jokes, no more games. This time, it’s for real. THE ONLY WAY YOU’LL ESCAPE THIS IS WITH THE POWER OF THE RING!
Iota tightens the ring, and Colossus can feel the orbital pressure crushing his bones.
Iota: My goal was to kill the symbol of peace! I preferred to do it by exposing you as a fraud and letting you watch as your loyal fans and followers come to the same realization I did many years ago! But as long as you’re out of the picture, who cares how it happens! I will tighten the planetary ring in five seconds to the point where the orbital pressure will crush your bones and internal organs! You either will die or use the ring to escape! I WIN EITHER WAY!
Iota holds up his hand with all five fingers up.
Iota: Five.
The pressure tightens.
Iota: Four.
Colossus’ femur snaps.
Colossus: AHHH!
Iota: Three.
A few of Colossus’ ribs shatter.
Iota: Tw-
Suddenly Colossus grabs one of the boulders with his hand.
Iota: (YES!)
Colossus tightens his grip and shatters the boulder into tiny pieces, freeing himself from the orbital cage.
Colossus: When presented with the option of Justice or Death. I will always choose Justice!
Colossus removes his glove revealing a ring with a red gem with the greek symbol for Omega engraved in it.
Colossus: I’ll bring you to justice with this ring!
Justus and Silver turn down an alleyway, and the clone follows them.
Clone: DIE-
Justus and Silver are nowhere to be seen.
Clone: Huh?
The clone lifts up trash cans, dumpsters, and boxes, looking for them. However, they both are standing on the roof of the adjacent building.
Silver: Since when could you leap onto buildings like this?
Justus: I’ve been training hard since our match. I’m much stronger than I was then.
Silver: Right… (What kind of training has he been doing? This building is at least four stories tall, Justus could jump maybe a single level at best before. This is the type of jump his father would make.)
Justus: Well, are you ready to take him out?
Silver: Yup.
Silver secretes silver into the shape of a massive wrist blade.
Silver: Remember to aim for the head.
Justus: Will do.
Justus and Silver leap off the building simultaneously.
Justus and Silver: Take this!
The clone looks up and reacts in time to coat its head in a layer of silver. Silver’s wrist blade connects first breaks against the clone’s armor.
Silver: (Damn!)
Justus’ punch on the other head smashes through the clone’s silver armor and shatters it.
Clone: Die?
Silver: (What!)
The clone’s skull cracks under the pressure of Justus’ fist, and the followthrough of Justus’ punch sends the clone straight into the asphalt of the alleyway pavement, knocking him out instantly as steam escapes from every pore on its body.
Justus: He’s down.
Silver grabs Justus by the collar.
Silver: What the hell was that!
Justus: I punched him.
Silver: You know what I mean! Answer me!
Justus: I don’t know what you’re talking about.
Silver shoves Justus.
Silver: Since when were you THAT strong! That thing killed two heroes before our eyes, and you just took it out in one punch!
Justus: I told you, I’ve been training hard.
Silver: DON’T MOCK ME!
Justus: Why are you so upset? We defeated it.
Silver: There’s no way you got that strong in just two weeks! I know you’re lying!
Justus: What are you insinuating?
Silver: You held back during our fight! Didn’t you!
Justus: I did not.
Silver: Don’t lie to me! You didn’t fight at your best just to humor me! You knew our fight didn’t matter because you didn’t have your team’s orb! There was nothing on the line but pride, and you made a fool of me for fun!
Justus tries to calm Silver down.
Justus: Silver, I give you my word as a man that I did not hold back.
Silver: Then explain how you got stronger than pro heroes in just two weeks! I’ll wait.
Justus: I trained hard.
Silver rolls his eyes.
Silver: Forget this! I’m going back to the fallout shelter.
Justus: Silver, wait!
Silver flips Justus off as he walks off.
Justus: *sighs* (But that’s all I did… at least physically, that is.)
Justus notices an electronic billboard nearby.
Justus: (Hm? What’s going on?)
Justus looks at the screen and sees his father holding up the Omega Ring.
Justus: (Wait a second… that’s…)
Iota starts laughing maniacally.
Colossus: Huh?
Iota falls on his ass because he’s laughing so hard.
Colossus: What’s so funny?
Iota: YOU FELL FOR MY BLUFF!
Colossus: You… you were bluffing still?
Iota gets up off the ground.
Iota: I KNEW YOU’D USE THE RING IF I MADE IT SOUND LIKE I WAS SERIOUS! YOU’RE SUCH A PREDICTABLE FOOL! I can beat you with or without the ring! I got what I wanted all along: the satisfaction of you finally revealing your lie to the whole world! When you gave your little speech, I knew that it would take drastic measures to get you to use it. I was planning to pull back at zero, but you fell for it! Hahaha!
Colossus clenches his fist.
Colossus: Well, what’s done is done. I’ll explain myself to the public. Then, after I defeat you and retire from being a hero once and for all.
Iota stops laughing.
Iota: Wait, what?
Colossus: I’ll admit that I lied. I’m not as strong as everyone thinks I am.
Everyone from Earth watching the match looks on with curious concern.
Colossus: To everyone watching that’s confused, I must tell you that I’m not really as powerful as I made you all believe.
Everyone is shocked.
Colossus: This ring, The Omega Ring, grants me additional inhuman strength, and I’ve worn it every day since I graduated from U.A.
Justus clenches his fist.
Colossus: You see, I was selected to become “The Symbol of Peace,” a hero so powerful that villains would be afraid to commit a crime. Although I accepted, it wasn’t because I was happy to be placed on a pedestal far above my peers. I knew that someone else would be chosen instead if I turned down the offer. I was perfectly fine being just another ordinary hero, but I embraced the ability to keep people safe by just being myself. Is it ethical to lie to an entire country to keep them safe? That’s subjective, but what isn’t is that it worked. My reign as the number 1 hero has brought this country the closest it's ever been to peace. Villains have cowered in fear over facing me, and some even surrender the moment I step before them. A hero's job is to protect, and I was able to do that just by existing. I did my job, and I’m damn well proud of it. The facade may be over, but I challenge the next generation's heroes to be better than I ever was.
Colossus thinks of every 2-A student except Alden.
Colossus: I know there are plenty of aspiring youngsters out there that wish to defeat me, and I’m sorry that I’m not who you thought I was, but still, I believe that there are future heroes out there that will be stronger than I am right now with this ring maybe not physically, but they’ll be more well rounded than I was even in my prime.
Colossus smiles.
Colossus: I’m sorry I deceived all of you, but I only did it because I wanted to protect people and make them feel safe. So even if everyone is upset with my actions or ridicules me for what I have done, I’ll still have a smile on my face because I know what I did was good for society as a whole.
Silver watches from his phone.
Silver: So you’re telling me that my Dad’s dream of becoming number 1 was taken away from him unjustly?
Silver’s grip on his phone tightens so much that his screen cracks.
Silver: I guess being a filthy liar is genetic.
Justus is holding The Omega Ring fragment in his hand.
Justus: (He didn’t believe I could do it on my own… he wanted me to live the same lie he has…)
Justus drops the fragment down a sewer grate.
Justus: (That bastard…)
Colossus points at Iota.
Colossus: You’ve alluded to the fact that you were once a fan of mine that found out about my dark secret. You’ve called me a liar and a hack multiple times, but have you ever considered that maybe my lie was for the better of mankind? That maybe, just maybe, lying was the right thing to do?
Iota stares at Colossus.
Iota: Safety built on a bed of lies isn’t safety. I’d rather the crime rate be at an all-time high and know my heroes were telling the truth than be where we are now.
Colossus: Is that so?
Iota: I wanted to be a hero, just like you. I watched your debut every day after school. I had your lines memorized. You weren’t just the symbol of peace. You were MY hero. You weren’t like any of the other heroes that had reached the top before. Although you were average in school, didn’t have a flashy quirk, and weren’t a household name fresh out of U.A., you came out of nowhere and stormed your way to the top. You were an example of an average person succeeding. You weren’t a prodigy from the moment your quirk manifested, you didn’t grow up with a silver spoon in your mouth, and you didn’t come from a family with a rich history of heroes. But that’s what made people love you. That’s what made me love you. I was just like you, and you inspired me to believe I could reach the top. Your story was the story I always wanted… and then I found out it was all a lie. Everything I worked for was all for naught. Everything I believed in was false… my world was shattered. But, I knew there were others just like me, and they deserved to know the truth. So I devoted myself to exposing you and removing your “symbol of peace” title. It’s time for a new era. It’s time for me to become the “symbol of chaos!”
Colossus: The hell is that?
Iota: My entire life, I wanted to be just like you, but that was all a lie, and what’s the opposite of a lie? The truth. If you’re the “symbol of peace,” I need to become the “symbol of chaos” because if peace is a lie, chaos is the truth. So I’ll make this world chaotic and correct your mistakes!
Iota laughs maniacally.
Colossus: That logic doesn’t make any sense.
Iota: YES, IT DOES! BECAUSE YOU’RE A FUCKING LIAR!
Colossus: You’re mad!
Iota: And that’s your fault…
Iota clenches his fist.
Iota: I’ve already won. Everyone knows that there’s no such thing as a hero that’s so powerful villains stop committing crimes because it was a facade! Villain organizations and teams will form, the crime rate will go up, and more and more people will die! The world will be chaotic again, and I’ll be the symbol of that chaos! People loved you, but they’ll fear me! They rallied around you, but they’ll run away from me. You were a humble god, while I’ll be a proud devil!
Iota starts walking towards Colossus.
Iota: Once I defeat you and claim The Omega Ring, I’ll be the strongest! Nobody will stand a chance against me. MY DREAMS WILL BE ACTUALIZED! So, Colossus, I’ve waited 8 years for this moment, the moment I defeat you. So what do you say we get this over with?
Colossus cracks his knuckles.
Colossus: You seem to be forgetting I’m fighting at full power now. I’m much more potent than you.
Iota: You seem to be forgetting that you haven’t landed a hit on me, not because you weren’t strong enough, but because you couldn’t figure out my trickery.
Colossus bursts towards Iota.
Colossus: Well then! I guess I’ll just have to figure it out now!
Iota smiles as Colossus’ fist slowly approaches his face.
Iota: (He’s such a fool, he made it to the top using just his fists. He has no idea how to fight any other way. I’ll defeat him using my superior intellect and ring.)
Just as Colossus’ punch is about to connect with Iota, he veers off and punches the ground instead.
Iota: WHAT!
Iota is standing behind Colossus, with shock on his face.
Colossus: I see…
Colossus’ impact hole isn’t gone this time.
Colossus: I was absolutely perplexed at how you could use multiple ring powers at once when I leaped off the planet to attack you. But that got me thinking… What if you aren’t using numerous powers at once? What if you only needed to use your instant recovery trick once, and it would affect me every time I attack you regardless if you were using the ring for something else? You set up a mental trap at the start of the match, and it has persisted ever since.
Iota: *frustrated grunt*
Colossus: And I know exactly when you did it.
“ Iota: It’s been my dream for so long to finally meet you, Colossus.
Colossus: Don’t tell me you’re just a deranged fan. This isn’t the way you should-
Iota: I WAS A FAN!
Iota points to the Iota Ring. It glows.
Iota: Until I got my hands on this and found out the truth about you!“ - Chapter 99
Iota: So you figured out when I did it and that you’re trapped in an infinite cycle! That doesn’t really help you, now does it!
Colossus smiles.
Iota: What!
Colossus: That last attack also proved something else vital for me.
Iota: Huh?
Colossus: Every time I attacked, you appeared behind me, acting as though you had somehow dodged the attack. However, this time, you reacted as though you watched the whole thing unfold before your eyes, implying that you were behind me before my attack ever connected. This entire time I believed you were dodging my attacks when, in actuality…
Colossus points at Iota.
Colossus: I’ve been fighting a fake version of you this whole time!
Iota’s eyes widen.
Iota: (How did this overgrown idiot figure it out!)
Colossus: My guess is that I’ve been fighting a “mental mirage” of sorts. That’s why all of my attacks seemed to have been doing nothing. You were messing with my mind.
The mirage of Iota fades. A warp gate opens, and the real Iota steps out, clapping.
Iota: Very clever, Colossus. When Zaire warped both of us here, my warp gate opened up to the upper section of the arena where I watched my mirage fight you. I can’t believe you actually figured it out, though.
Colossus: I’m more perceptive than you’d think.
Iota smiles.
Iota: Now that that’s done, I guess we should move into phase two of this fight.
Colossus: Phase two?
Iota looks into the camera.
Iota: Zaire, go locate my new apprentice and bring them here.
Zaire nods and opens a warp gate, and leaves.
Signal: I can never get a read on that guy…
Colossus looks confused.
Colossus: What the hell? “New apprentice”? What’s going on?
Iota doesn’t answer. He just keeps smiling.
Colossus: Answer me, now!
Iota: I’ve already accomplished half of what I wanted out of this fight: I exposed your lie. The other half is collecting the Omega Ring, and I don’t necessarily need to be the one to do that.
Colossus: What?
Iota: Just sit tight.
Iota looks out at Earth.
Iota: The fun is going to begin soon.
Back in Recovery Girl’s office, Ash finally comes to.
Ash: Huh? Jeez, I feel like I’ve been asleep for days.
Ash sits up in her bed to see Blair and Saige still in their stalemate.
Saige: Oh hey, Ash! Good to see you’re awake!
Ash: What’s going on… why are you wearing Blair’s clothes?
Blair: Because she’s a bitch… that’s why!
Ash: Huh?
Saige: We played strip poker, and Blair lost… a lot.
Blair: THAT’S NOT WHAT HAPPENED!
Ash looks confused.
Ash: What’s going on exactly?
Blair: *sighs* The full story: A group of villains attacked the city, and there was a massive evacuation. Many of us who were injured or knocked out during the fight were taken to Recovery Girl’s office instead. We have no idea what happened to everyone else because we only woke up recently. What we do know is that the door out of here is locked, so Recovery Girl left us here and doesn’t want us to go.
Ash: Then why is Saige here?
Blair: Actually… I don’t even know that.
Saige: Hayze attacked me.
Ash and Blair are surprised.
Saige: Well, it wasn’t Hayze, his body is being controlled by a villain, but he put a big ole arrow through my chest and nearly killed me.
“ Hayze: I have a personality disorder.
Ash: Oh… I uh… I’m- I’m-
Hayze: It’s okay. You didn’t know; nobody knows. My quirk’s elemental capabilities were locked away inside my alternate personalities, and it takes me drawing upon them to activate the individual elements. It’s not something I’m necessarily proud of, so I’ve been lying. I’m sorry. “ - Chapter 91
Ash: A villain, huh…
Blair: Yeah, and I want to help free Hayze of his control, but Saige won’t let me! So she stole my clothes so that I couldn’t go anywhere. So, do you mind helping me out, Ash?
Ash is in deep thought.
Blair: Ash? Are you there?
Saige: Looks like she’s in la-la-land! Which means that you’re on your own!
Blair: *sighs*
Saige: I mean, Blair, we're going to see each other naked all the time when we’re sharing a bathroom next school year. If you’re really committed to leaving, you should know it’s inevitable that I’ll have some naughty pictures of you.
Blair: You really love your raunchy jokes...
Saige: They’re amusing, but in all honesty, I’m glad you’re here and safe rather than out there getting yourself hurt.
Blair: Right…
A few seconds of silence pass by.
Saige: (Well, this is awkward, maybe I shouldn’t make fun of her as much… I mean, she just doesn’t understand the gravity of the situation.)
In actuality, Blair is quiet because she is concentrating on discretely melting a hole in the floor beneath her bed that is nearly complete.
Blair: (The last bit of the hole is pretty close to the part of the floor she can see, I need to distract her for a few seconds.) So Saige, since you’re always talking about my body or Eve’s tits, are you bi?
Saige laughs.
Saige: No, I don’t think so. I just think the human body is a thing of beauty, a work of art, so to speak. You don’t have to be attracted to something to admire it, you know?
Blair: Right… and that was a joke earlier about how you’re going to take pictures of me showering next school year… right?
Saige gets a sinister glint in her eye.
Saige: Nope, I have a pretty great idea planned!
Saige pulls out the plans for a calendar.
Saige: I’m going to make a nudie calendar! You see, there are six of you girls in our class so each of you would get two months! You’d obviously get February and April because February is the shortest month of the year, and April is when taxes are due.
Blair is dumbfounded.
Saige: I’ll charge $200 a pop for these bad boys, and I’ll be rich! Hell, I’ll probably put Demetri, Isaiah, and Alden into bankruptcy!
Blair is still dumbfounded.
Blair: (Whatever that worked!) Well, Saige. It’s been fun, but…
Saige: Huh?
Blair: Gotta go!
Blair finishes burning a hole through the floor, and her bed falls into the room below. Blair wraps herself in her bedsheets and starts running.
Ash: Wh- What happened!
Saige: Dammit! She just couldn’t listen!
Saige hops down the hole and starts chasing after Blair.
Saige: *yelling up* Ash, please stay here. I don’t want you to get hurt!
Ash: Um… okay?
Blair runs down the hallways of U.A.
Blair: (I know you need my help, Hayze, and I won’t let anyone stop me. Because I know you would do the same for me!)

Thank you for reading, as always. ^.^ Afterword: Hello there everyone, and welcome back those that have already read the first story. If you are new, don't worry too much about the first step of the series. Truly, this second part aims to cover most of what was done there. Those that have read it will know a few secrets and plot points before we see them. Though it shouldn't detract from your reading of this one. Honestly, the first one was a bit rough, but do as you will. I will warn that this will tackle some serious topics and might end up getting rather explicit in terms of what is done or seen by the characters. There is a bit to cover, so I'll explain what I can between chapters without overloading anyone, hopefully. -Cover Art drawn by Cozie [participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge]

The focus lies on the characters, their progressions and their inner conflicts, coupled with an intricate magic system. Constructive criticism is highly appreciated! HIATUS Updates: 12.12.20 Chapter 1 & 2 are written together. The backstory of the parents will be integrated into one of the later chapters. 20.12.20 Prologue has been rewritten, fight added. Will now continue writing the chapters until the first arch is finished. 19.01.21 Chapter 15 is written. Will hopefully be able to write more from now on, university has been kinda rough these days. 08.04.21 Chapter 16 & 17 has been written. Beginning will be rewritten (again) to start with chapter 3. Chapter 1 & 2 will be shown through reocurring dreams / nightmares. 10.08.21 Rewriting of the first arc is complete and has been proofread twice. Plot of rest of book one is 80% complete. Will publish chapters once first book is finished and proofread. 06.12.21 Second arc is finished (chapter 24/31-33). First draft will likely be finished around February, after which I will edit a few suggestions of my beta readers and publish it on RR. Release schedule: Once a week on Sunday, chapters are around 3000 words long. (HIATUS, see last chapter for more info) Cover art by Riverman09

The Crossroads
Meet Pete, he suddenly finds himself in a black void for no reason whatsoever, but for some strange reason there is a screen asking him to start the tutorial. For what? He has no idea, but he doesn't really care at this point in his life.Follow along in his story as he travels to The Crossroads, a fantastical place that has every fictional being present, from goons and fodder in videogames, all the way to Frankenstein's monster in books, and then back to the Doc Brown from movies.Pete will have to overcome challenges on a constant basis if he wants to have a life he actually cares about.-------------------------------------I was inspired by things such as the original wreck it ralph movie (haven't seen the new one), Galactic Fist of Legend, and The City Of Terror. Not to mention all the different franchises and characters I am going to mention, I don't own a single one of these nor do I claim to by writing this, I just want people to have something to enjoy since I am drained on my other work.I hope you enjoy, and to say it right off the bat since this is something that upsets me, I don't mind if you're critical of the work, but jesus, don't be rude. I love criticism but I hate people that go and put a 1 star with no reason, but if you put 1 star and give me a good reason then I'll use it to grow as an author! Thanks everyone! Hope you enjoy the story!
