《Pokemon Oasis》07| Money Moves

He put the food down, and grabbed mudkip, also putting him down. Watching Mudkip eat, Heath washed his hands and sat on the chair, and snacked on some of the sandwiches.
‘Swamperts are awesome for battle, and a great starter pokemon to have. Though with the rarity of them is a huge issue within the games, I hope that’s not the case in this world. You can just hand them out for free so I’m guessing they can be found in the wild. Maybe I should go to the area where they are found to get my own?’ Heath was questioning whether Mudkip would be a good fit for his future team, when he heard the door open. Birch came in with a couple of packages and was struggling to get through the door using limited hands. Heath immediately rushed towards the professor.
“Let me help you Professor”
“Thank you, oh that Package is the Xtransceiver, so be careful.” Birch advised. The packages were all sorted and put where they were needed when Birch spotted the Mud fish pokémon eating pokémon food next to the table with the sandwiches.
“Why is a mudkip eating in the lab?” Birch asked.
“Well, he was playing with Piplup upstairs, but we all fell asleep. I went up and he was seemingly awake so I originally bought him to bring back to his area, but before I could I heard his stomach growl so I figured that I should feed him.” Heath explained. Birch took a couple of seconds to respond.
“He’s probably being bullied again.”
“Who’s bullying Mudkip?” Heath probed. He didn’t see where Mudkip came from only that Birch unlike most of the pokemon had Mudkip out.
“Well, the other Mudkips and probably the poliwags. He was a runt from a donator, and when they evaluated him, they said that he had low potential. But not having many options I decided to take him anyway. He was originally given in the 2 batches ago, but nobody picked him the first time, and the second time the trainer took it back after they almost died. I’m planning to give its last chance in this turning 3 months from now. If it’s not taken permanently the last time. I might give it up to another professor for some reinbursement money”
“How much do you want for it?” Heath asked.
“Well for being a starter even at the weast cost 500,000 Pokedollars” Birch explained.
“What the fuck” Heath thought about it and realized that there was no possible way for him to buy one, he would have to either catch one or forget about it. If the professor had said a normal price, he would find it in his interest to scrounge up the money but wanting to save money to be ready to leave in a couple of months to start challenging the gyms it would prove impossible unless he waited awhile. Heath had a mixed expression on his face but thinking about it he still decided he would keep it in the back of his mind. Heath felt something thump on his leg and looking down he saw the blue pokémon looking up at him.

“Mud Mudkip”
“I think Mudkip said thank you. Also, I think you should bring Piplup, and Mudkip out back so that you can get ready for dinner” Birch advised.
“Is it that time already?” Heath murmured while looking at a nearby clock. It had indeed by a couple of hours.
Timeskip to the next day.
Heath ate at Professor Birch’s, and the food was amazing. Sophie, May and Max’s mother asked Max to go and bring Heath to the town’s clothing shop tomorrow around the time the shops opened up. Max happily agreed and then after dinner was done, Heath bidded the family goodnight and went back to his apartment. He nabbed Piplup who was only playing with Mudkip and feeling bad for Mudkip he also brought him for the night and went to bed.
Waking up, Heath saw that it was early morning and Piplup, and Mudkip was still asleep. Letting them sleep he went into the bathroom. Looking at the mirror, his heart immediately stopped.
‘Fuck sakes…’ Heath breathed out.
‘New world. I am in a new world.’ Heath pinched himself to make sure his existence was truly real but regretted it since he did it way too hard. Heath had still secretly hoped he would have been sleeping since he woke up yesterday, but with it not being the case, He sighed heavily.
“Well, at least it’s not Naruto” He whispered to himself
He looked around trying to find packages of toothbrushes and luckily, he found them next to a fresh bottle of toothpaste that was designed like a Dratini.
‘Cute’
After he was done, Heath quietly went down and saw that he was alone. This is when Heath decided to do the daily chores early so Birch can focus on what he wanted during the morning. Heath saw the new schedule, and immediately got to work. The schedule was deciding what pokémon would get C grade food for the day. Heath thought that since food could be expensive, treating the pokémon to better quality food once and while even if it wasn’t necessary, was for the best. Heath scoped up the first section’s food into their container and brought it over. He saw flaffy’s and Nuzleaf’s which surprised Heath because the last four sections he did yesterday only had pre evolved pokémon. Heath paid no mind in the end, so he loaded their food and doing those 5 more times for the other sections, he finally finished. He went to the computer where he would for more information about the guild, especially the genesis guild, but seeming to not find anything he decided to just wait for Professor Birch to tell him the rest of his duties.
“Were you waiting long? I’m surprised you woke up so early” Professor Birch chuckled.
“No, but since I was up, I figured I should feed all of the pokémon for the day” Heath said. Birch’s eyes widened before smiling.
“Well, you’re done for the day. Right now, it’s really just time for research, and for the time being you’re only real duty is to feed them every morning, and then your free for the day. At least for now, here by the way. I did it last night.” Birch handed him his Xtransceiver, and it immediately flashed his name.

“It’s works as a phone, a map, a Mission log, and whatever you might need as a trainer. Your checks will also be directly deposited to your bank account. Don’t worry about setting it up, it’s an automatic process once one gets a trainer ID.
“Mission log?”
“Well, missions are fundamentally quest for trainers to make or receive money, items, rep points, or some type of transaction that would benefit both the person who made the quest and you who took it. They range from F-SSS, and Towns usually have their own quest wall, those typically being lower ranked quests, but you could also look at your PokéGear and find some quest to do in the Hoenn region. Beginner trainers are only really allowed to do up to C ranked mission, and Every Trainer rank you go up, you can do a higher ranked mission until Master where you can do any mission available to you” Birch explained. Heath immediately hears a ding

“I guess I’ll take a look.” Heath sighed and put on the smart watch. It felt cool against his skin as he looked at his device a one looks at the latest smartphone. Heath looked up, and seeing Birch going back to work, he decided to take a look at Littleroot’s Mission Wall. He quickly went upstairs and grabbed Piplup who both felt bad about leaving Mudkip at the lab as it was becoming increasingly aware of how alone he was in the lab. Heath left with the promise of being back by tonight and went off the see the town. At first it was easy the Houses were sparce and no one was outside. The House also looked similar each other having a caramel roof with tan paneling decorating the walls. Two double paned window was on the top of the house with a middle split window right next to the door entrance. What was nice was the occasional pokémon that scurried across the town like one would see a squirrel back on earth. Heath looked at Piplup who was minding his own business, and just mindlessly following while taking all the sites.
He eventually found a building that looked similar to the others but with a flat roof, and next to it was a sign that read.
~Mail room~
And under it was a mission billboard.
‘That looks straight out of Pokémon Mystery Dungeon, that’s pretty sick’ Heath thought.
“Piplup, I’m gonna take a look at some of the missions, and if I see one that we can do, you wanna do it?”
“Piplup pip!!” Piplup nodded, and a fire seemed to ignite in the little oinker. Smiling Heath walked towards the build board when he suddenly heard a thing.
[Quest issued: Do missions
Details: Complete 5 missions. 0/5
Reward 2x rarecandy, System candy]
‘Sweet. Let’s just hope they are not too difficult; I’m looking for around a F-rank level’ Heath mentally noted and looked through all of the papers. The good news was there was a variety of ranks in the town which was far from what Heath expected. He thought that there would be missions, but not the amount of missions that he saw. He viewed all of them and brought it down to 5 he thought he could do with Piplup.
‘D rank: Clear the Growing Beedrill colony’
‘F rank: Gather 10 Sitrus Berries’
‘F rank: Forage 3 Oran Berries’
‘D rank: Clear the Sentrets in Littleroot Crossing’
‘D rank: Catch a Taillow ’
‘Hmmm, I would just take all of these, but I don’t know If I can.’ Heath looked around some further direction and he found an eventually found a paper describing what to do.
~Please take only one mission,~
~Go to your PokéGear’s Mission log and click the QR reader. Missions are first come first serve if you want to do more than one mission.~
Heath tapped on his Xtransceiver and pressed the mission log icon. He saw the button for QR reader and scanned all of the mission. After he was done, he took the Forage 3 Oran Berries, and looked at the reward.
{F rank – Forage 3 Oran berries
Details: Bring inside Mail Hall to receive your reward
Reward: 1000 pokédollars.}
‘is that a lot?’ Heath had no idea how much things cost here besides the PokéGear, so he had no bearing on the amount of the reward. He decided to see the shop in town which was a surprisingly open stall next to the Mail Hall. The both of them walked towards it, and Heath cleared his throat.
“Excuse me, I was wondering if you had a catalog for items here? I’m new here” Heath asked politely to the lady storekeeper. She looked like she had age on her, but her smile said otherwise.
“Sure, thing young man, always happy to have new customers, and If you promise to only sell to me, I’ll give you a discount.”
“She’s lying” A gravelly voice was heard, but not seeing anything Heath looked over to the side and saw an older man sitting on the stool. The lady hit him in the head with the paper Heath thought to be the catelog.
“Sherly, you best not be hittin me you ditz. I’m getting too old for yer shenanigans, I wuz just telling the truth.” The old man rattled his hand, which only seemed to provoke Sherly even more. She hit twice more, but the old man gave up and kept quiet. She immediately straightened up her clothes before giving Heath the most innocent smile as can be.
‘Scary’

NOTICE: This story is under rewrite. New novel has been published. Search **RE: Tyranny** in Royalroad for the new novel.Link- Re: Tyranny Thank You! ------------------------ "Sometimes you will never know the value of a moment until it becomes a memory." "Will I ever be remembered...? I wish... someone would." These were the last word James mumbled before his conscious faded into darkness. In an era of political turmoil and civil strife, the Duke's son is forced to prove his worth for inheriting the title. Will he be able to accept the new reality and prove himself by leading this country into a prosperous future? Or will he cease to the pressure of his past and lose everything once more? Disclaimer: This is not a power-fantasy or a 'feel-good' story. If you feel a protagonist should never lack agency (especially in early story) or make compromises because of difficult circumstances, then this fiction is probably not for you. It is a story that delves deep into real world sociological/psychological subjects and explores many topics of gray morality. I wrote it because I like stories that make me think more about the world around us, not to detach myself from reality. Some aspects you can expect based on the tags include:- [Kingdom Building]: political drama, geopolitical/geoeconomic strategy- [Army Building]: massive battles featuring in-depth planning, combined arms, and operational logistics- [Identity Crisis]: someone translated into a whole different world having to rebuild their identity and life aims The story starts off slowly, more like a slice of life than action-adventure, but I guarantee you it will get there. For those who want to skip the slow part, start from Chapter - 35 (Beginning of The End) (The whole Disclaimer section is copied from Aorii as I am too busy writing the complete story.) And yes, just for General Knowledge, James will become OP throughout the story. He is not some legendary guy who will pull out Excalibur & conquer the entire world. Update Schedule - One chapter a day. This novel is also available on Scribble Hub. And again, I humbly thank you for reading it. I hope you stick throughout the journey.
