Alpha Force: Formerly the American armed services. Incorporated in 2043 and serves as the military contractor of choice for corporate warfare the world over.

AmeriNet Technologies: Formerly American security services such as the CIA, NSA, and FBI. Those services were merged following the coup attempt of 2027. Net Force incorporated following the market crash of 2040 and has dominated the intelligence market ever since thanks to their cutting-edge net monitoring.

BioFood Inc: This American corporation is the leader in global food production. Corn, beans, wheat, meat, coffee, seafood, tea, or any other food you can think of is part of BioFood’s product line. Odds are anybody anywhere on the planet has eaten in one of BioFood’s numerous restaurant chains.

Cartier Transport: Small courier service company run by Henri Cartier based in Harlem.

Corporate States of America: The CSA is the former nation known as the United States. Incorporated in 2042. The governing board is made up of representatives from mega corporations that control the individual states and larger cities. An appointed director is in charge instead of a president. Each director serves one five-year term. Board members serve three years.

CyberBionic: American corporation specializing in cybernetic implants. CyberBionic produces a line of consumer grade implants as well as military grade implants. This corporation also creates custom frames to order.

Browning Colt: Legendary American firearms and fishing gear manufacturer. This corporation can trace its roots back to 1855 and is well known for their quality products.

EcoFoods Inc: EcoFoods is America’s second largest food manufacturer and second only to BioFoods in the global market as well. Offers all the same product lines and services that BioFoods does.

Guns R Us: The leading firearm dealership in the world. Guns R Us stores are in every city and town in every country on the planet. Firearm availability may be limited by local laws and corporate regulations.

Harada Electronics: One of the world leading frame manufacturers. Makes a wide range of frames for any budget. Mostly known for its line of Composer frames. Rumored to have ties to the Yakuza.

Hong Song Attorneys at Law: Law firm located in China Town.

Kaiser Optics: The name in cybernetic eye replacement. The German mega corporation has defeated all challenges to its eye replacement throne for decades. Kaiser’s award-winning Eagle Vision remains the de facto standard in scanner and zoom technology.

Kimber-Springfield Manufacturing and Armory: Small arms and knife manufacturer that also has a long history of importing firearms from Croatia and other small European countries.

Knight Industries: British mega corporation. Makes range of products with a focus on vehicles. Knight’s GT4 Triple Black is considered the ultimate muscle roadster by many bike enthusiasts worldwide.

Laurent Incorporated: French mega corporation. Like its international competitors, Laurent makes a wide range of products to serve your everyday needs.

Legalia: Lower east side law firm.

Raven Technologies: American Frame manufacturer. Makes frames designed for corporate espionage including the award-winning Fusion.

RemingMoss: One of the CSA’s premier weapon manufacturers. From home defense to war, this corporation offers a wide range of firearms to suit anyone’s needs from shotguns to stun guns to handguns to assault rifles.

Saito Technologies: One of the leading Japanese mega corporations. Makes anything from clothing to consumer electronics to military hardware. Rumored to be connected to the Yakuza.

Silver Circle Cruises: Small cruise line that is a subsidy of Zhao Technologies. Offers cruises from New York to the Caribbean and back.

Smith, Wesson, & Winchester Arms Company: SWW is another legendary American firearms manufacturer that can trace its history back to 1852. SWW has produced some of the most iconic rifles and handguns the world has ever seen. Currently the world’s leading firearm manufacturer.

Spectre Arms: Belgian firearms manufacturer. This company specializes in non-lethal, yet versatile firearms.

Stefani Motors: Italian motorcycle manufacturer. Their SV12 is one of the three most popular racing motorcycles in the world.

Williamson Motors: American vehicle manufacturer. Makes a wide range of vehicles from electric bicycles to long haul rigs.

Volkov Consolidated: Russian mega corporation that offers a wide range of products ranging from alcohol to firearms to drones. Rumored to be a front for the Bratva.

Zhao Technologies: Global leader in Bot manufacturing. Zhao’s Solider Bot Mark 5 or SB5 is the number one rated robotic solider according to the latest market surveys. Also known for their Dense Bone implants. Rumored to have ties to the Triads.

Frames

Allegro: CyberBionic’s custom-built line of speedy frames. All software and ICE are customer ordered and then installed. The user can even have the RAM and processors custom built using biochips or standard parts.

Composer: World famous Nanopc created by Harada Electronics used by Cyberdocs all over the globe due to its simple, yet elegant interface and open-source code that is excellent for installing and adjusting cybernetics.

Encore: A high end Saito Technology Frame that is popular with musicians and artists for its large Base RAM and generous buffer size. The system is locked and cannot be modified. History books liken it to the defunct Apple Macintosh computers.

Fusion: Raven Technologies bestselling NanoPC. Comes loaded with software such as a word processor for your workers as well as state of the art ICE to protect corporate data. Various Daemon options are offered to approved corporate clients.

Overture: Laurent’s high end practical and spacious frame features speedy RAM recovery and overclocked processors. Can be modified to the user’s specifications. Very popular amongst Slicers and Coders.

Daemons and ICE

Aperture: A stealth intrusion daemon. Developed by Alpha Force, this daemon is a favorite of experienced government slicers as it cuts through most corporate ICE with ease and rarely leaves a trail behind the hole it creates. Variants have been found in the darkest recesses of the net that close the hole leaving no trace of intrusion. Rumored to be offered by CyberBionic for Allegro users.

Archangel: Zoe’s custom variant of the Avenging Angel ICE. This daemon not only returns attacks to the sender, but it will also use Zoe’s other offensive daemons to incapacitate the target.

Atomic: System and data destroying virus. Lethal to humans as it fries their frame and brain. Outlawed in every corporate owned city, state, and country. Used by terrorists to attack corps. Used by corporations when waging war. Has also been used by international gangs during gang warfare.

Avenging Angel: A more robust variant of the Guardian Angel ICE. This variant returns attacks to the system or slicer that attacked its user in addition to its overwatch function.

Bastion: Zoe’s custom ICE firewall. Builds a multilayered wall around a system on top of the existing ICE firewall to block unauthorized access while permitting outgoing communications. VPN is built in.

Battering Ram: A brute force intrusion daemon. Like its namesake, this daemon destroys a system’s security walls. Battering Ram is a favorite of newbie slicers before they learn better or those that favor destruction.

Bigboy: Attack daemon that causes a person’s frame to consider its user to weigh a ton or more. This causes cybernetic limb failure which stops or slows a person. Bigboy is often used as a prank.

Broadcast: Utility daemon that sends out whatever message the user wishes to all nearby systems.

Bug Zapper: ICE that not only blocks ads, but it will also zap their code causing the ad to crash.

Bulwark: ICE firewall. Builds a dual layered wall around a system to block unauthorized access while permitting outgoing communications. Does nothing for advertisements though.

Castle: AmeriNet’s server ICE firewall. Currently the most powerful defensive ICE available. Not suited to frames due to program size and running requirements.

Caveman: A common offensive daemon named after a cartoon character from the 1950s and 60s designed to attack people by stunning them.

Cloak: Disguise ICE. Uses created data to mask its user’s identity.

Dazzle: Dazzle is a nonlethal attack daemon that blinds or confuses a person using bright light and sounds. Consider it the software version of a flashbang. Dazzle is used as a popular prank amongst teens.

Flamethrower: Offensive daemon. This daemon produces heat in people until they pass out. Can be used on systems causing them to overheat and fail. Can cause flames if used on the target past the point they faint or the burning point of the equipment.

Flood: A type of denial-of-service attack daemon. A Flood causes the infected system to shut down due to heavy communication traffic. Cybernetic limbs can temporarily fail due to a Flood attack. This has proven to be a popular mean prank causing people to trip and fall.

Fly Swatter: Ad-blocking ICE.

Fortress: Server ICE firewall. Customized version of Castle. Not suited to frames due to program size and running requirements.

Fox: Diversion daemon. This program pretends to be the user and moves away from the user’s location leading tracking daemons in the wrong direction.

Grave Robber: Disguise ICE. Uses records of deceased people to mask its user’s identity.

Guardian Angel: Overwatch utility ICE. This program keeps watch over a user and alerts them to intrusion attempts. It will quarantine attacks without user prompting. Can also keep check on the user’s surroundings.

Hog: Sniffer daemon. Slowly finds valuable data and stores it until its user recovers the data or its large buffer is full.

Hound: Tracker daemon. This program will track an intrusion attempt back to its source. Then, depending on the variant, the hound will either attack the intruder or just signal their location.

Illusion: Disguise ICE. Uses any selected nearby public profile to mask its user’s identity.

Kunoichi: A stealth intrusion daemon. This well-known daemon is a favorite of Japanese mega corporation security forces as it masks itself as less harmful processes and requests making it extremely hard to counter. This daemon can also piggyback on emails and messages further making it hard to counter. Often sold to corporate accounts.

Lockpick: Daemon designed purely to break electronic locks.

Nanny: Cheap, yet popular overwatch utility daemon. This program monitors its user and alerts them to intrusion attempts.

Nostradamus: Data reader developed by a special force’s unit or spy organization. Can read any data in a courier’s secure storage. Must be installed in the courier’s system to function and only allows the courier to read the data. This daemon cannot alter a thing.

Note: Utility daemon used to label and display information about a person, place, or thing.

Phantom: Zoe’s upgraded and personalized Fox daemon. This software uses data from overwatch utilities and intrusion daemons to further hide from and confuse tracking daemons by slicing into nearby systems. Phantom can use offensive daemons such as Dazzler to attack physical trackers further leading them away from the user.

Rabbit: A self-replicating attack daemon used to take over systems on a network. In the old days this daemon was called a worm. The name change occurred after it was noted that the daemons reproduced like rabbits.

Shocker: Attack daemon that is like Flamethrower, except it uses electricity instead of heat. Can be used to attack systems or people.

Silence: Attack daemon that stops a system’s communication.

Squirrel: Sniffer daemon. Quickly finds valuable data and stores it until its user recovers the data or its small buffer is full.

Stinker: Attack daemon that targets a person’s cybernetic sense of smell making them think something nearby or even themselves smells like rotten eggs. This is another popular prank program.

Tag: Tracer daemon. Highlights the targeted individual and follows them on the slicer’s map software. Just like the children’s game, only one person can be it. Which means highlighted in this case.

Tate: Lightweight corporate management level ICE firewall created by Harada Electronics. Will stop all but the most determined attacks and considered one of the best firewalls available on to frame users. Not sold to the public.

The Eye of All: AmeriNet’s finest network monitoring daemon. Known as the Eye, this daemon sits atop a Castle or Fortress ICE to give users the safest data refuge possible. This nearly all-seeing monitor can spot almost any attack including Aperture windows.

Tomahawk: A brute force intrusion daemon. This daemon was developed by Alpha Force and remains a favorite of theirs. It hits harder and faster than the older Battering Ram daemon and its approach can be hidden with proper setup and care.

Traffic Cop: Daemon coded by a friend of Henri Cartier. This program monitors and provides the user with real time traffic updates by using a backdoor into the city’s traffic camera and drone network. Will offer alternative routes if given access to the user’s GPS data.

Watcher: Popular net monitoring daemon. This program monitors all network traffic into and out of its assigned system.

Criminal Underground

Bratva: The Russian mafia. Violent and structured after the Italian mafia, with leadership made up of corrupt government officials, business leaders, former military officers, and intelligence agents. Perhaps the most structured criminal organization with a global reach. Rumored to have ties to various corporations around the world.

Cartels: Former South American and Mexican drug pushers. Now the leading suppliers of neuro stems in the world. Content these days to profit off supplying stems to the other underground gangs instead of fighting for control themselves. Considering incorporating.

Hei Lianhua: Hei lianhua means dark lotus in Chinese. This female gang answers to the triads and controls a few blocks of territory between Williamson Bridge and Pier 36 on the lower east side.

Mafia: The American mob derived from the Italian or Sicilian mafia. Often called Cosa Nostra by its members. Reemerged in 2055 taking control of a fourth of NYC’s criminal underground.

Triads: A Chinese criminal organization with a presence in every city or country where there is a sizable Chinese population. Rumored to have their hooks in every Chinese corporation. Currently controls a fourth of New York’s criminal underground.

Yakuza: A Japanese criminal organization. Its members are known for their ornate tattoos and chopping off their own fingers to make amends for mistakes. Like the Triads, they are everywhere there is a sizable Japanese population and control a fourth of NYC’s criminal underground. Also rumored to have ties to every Japanese corporation.

Cybernetic Implants

Dense Bone: Cybernetic implant that increases bone density making one’s bones harder to break as well as one to hit harder.

Eagle Vision: Welcome to the 64K world! Eagle Vision is Kaiser Optics’ award-winning eye replacement implant gives you true Ultra HD vision that is far superior to the human eye. Versions 1, 2, and 3 are all sold on the open market featuring scanner functionality and zoom capability up to 24 times human normal. Version 4 is currently only sold to corporate and military users. Subdermal Armor: Cybernetic implant that increases the toughness of one’s skin. Grants protection from bladed and blunt weapons. Offers limited protection from firearms. Offers no protection from fire, electrical, or other elemental damage.

Subdermal Weave: Cybernetic implant that increases the toughness of one’s skin. Offers less protection than armor but makes up for this by offering protection against elemental damage. Weak vs blades and blunt objects.

Synthetic Blood Vessels: Cybernetic implant that increases blood flow and therefore overall health, recovery, and stamina.

Other Tech

Beastkin: Genetically and cybernetically modified human. Resembles the fantasy creature with animalistic appearances including tails. Staring at a beastkin may lead to a trip to your Cyberdoc or furious brushing of their tails.

Biochip: Micro device created by using DNA, protein, or microfluid from the user’s body. These devices can be used to create RAM or processors. Mostly used to create a Courier’s storage space due to expense.

Buffer: A region of physical memory storage used to temporarily store data while it is moved from one location to another. May also be used to handle processes within a computer.

Crystal: Quartz crystal used for data storage.

Daemon: Slang for a computer program. Mostly used in relation to offensive or attack programs.

Drone: Unmanned aerial vehicle. Varies in size and often used for spying or guarding facilities.

Dwarf: Genetically and cybernetically modified human. Resembles the fantasy creature with short, stocky builds. Staring at a dwarf may lead to a brawl and night of drinking.

Elf: Genetically and cybernetically modified human. Resembles the fantasy creature with pointed ears and slender builds. Staring at an elf is usually welcomed and fuels their egos.

ICE: Intrusion countermeasures electronics are defensive programs.

K555 Mini: Kimber-Springfield folding pocketknife. The most common blade style is the sheepsfoot though other styles such as tantos are sold.

NanoPC: Microscopic computer installed in a human. Used in the place of tablets, mobile phones, and traditional desktop PCs. These machines are hardcoded to counteract the chemicals that lead to the highs of drug use.

Neuro Stim: Computer app or program that allows a person to get high. Stims have taken the place of drugs.

Ogre: Genetically and cybernetically modified human. Resembles the fantasy creature with large muscular builds and greenish skin. Staring at an ogre will lead to broken bones, or death.

Orc: Genetically and cybernetically modified human. Resembles the fantasy creature with large muscular builds and grayish skin. Staring at an orc may lead to a smashed in face, broken bones, or death.

P750: Spectre Arms’ latest modular smartgun. The P750 shoots a variety of non-lethal ammunition including tranquilizer, gas, heat, and shock rounds. The modularity of this pistol allows it to be converted from 9mm up to 40cal within minutes.

RAM: Random access memory. Typically used to store data and machine code.

Smartgun: Firearm capable of interfacing with a frame to enable automatic targeting. These guns can also be user locked through a combination of handprint and password or pin protection.

Solider Bot Mark 5: Zhao Technologies’ number one rated killing machine. Used by countries and corporations to wage war whenever killing people would cause a PR nightmare. The SB5 is also used by various corporations in guard roles.

Other Terms

1200: A type of motorcycle engine. Some bikes feature the term in their names.

660: A type of motorcycle engine. Some bikes feature the term in their names.

America Network News: ANN is the CSA’s leading news network and a subsidiary of Raven Technologies.

Bot: Slang for robot. Robots are used for various tasks ranging from cleaning to warfare.

Coder: A computer programmer. Humans have seen this job become more and more automated, yet some corporations still prefer a human to oversee the automated codebase.

Consigliere: Means counselor. The number three in a mob family’s power structure. Advises the boss but does not control underlings. Is considered a civilian and therefor off limit most of the time.

Cosa Nostra: The Sicilian mafia. Cosa Nostra literally means our thing.

Courier: Person who transports and delivers sensitive data and small packages.

Cyborg: A human that has added machine parts or a NanoPC to their bodies.

Cyberdoc: Doctor that specializes in working with and installing frames and cybernetic body parts.

Cybernetics: In short, the study of controls of any system by using technology. The term has been extended to implants used to modify the human body in addition to replacement body parts.

Dame: Female prostitute.

Frame: Short for mainframe. Slang term for NanoPCs installed in people.

Homme: Male prostitute.

Parkour: Also called free running. Parkour is the practice of moving from one point to another using environmental obstacles to increase your efficiency.

Purity Church: New religion that believes all cybernetics and frames are evil. Most think of the Church as people once did the Amish before they integrated with modern society. Considered a terrorist organization by some corporations since some of its former and current members have been responsible for bombings and cyber-attacks. Members will not taint themselves with any implants or replacement parts.

Puter: Slang for desktop computers.

Ride by wire: In olden days, this term referred to the absence of mechanical linkage between the accelerator and throttle. In modern times, this term refers to the ability to plug a data cable from the vehicle to the driver allowing the driver to control the vehicle by their frame instead of physically driving it.

Slicer: A computer hacker. Slicer replaced hacker as the term of choice once hacker became too closely associated with kids using apps created by others.

Speaker: Leader of the Purity Church. This position is currently held by a name named Nathaniel Wyatt.

Underboss: Second in command of a Cosa Nostra crime family.

Vanguard: Operations officer in the Triad. This is a lieutenant position in the criminal organization.

Rides

A110: Laurent Incorporated sportscar. Features a rear turbo charged mid-engine capable of 240 horsepower, rear wheel drive, 6 speed automatic transmission, and only weighs 2400 pounds.
