《Journey to Another World.... because of my Neighbour》Chapter 20: Assassination

After coming back from the Dungeon. We all went to sleep. Flora to her house and Iris, Tulip, and me to the Inn. It was the morning we had gone to sleep. I woke up in the evening had dinner and went to sleep again. Dungeons took a lot of your mental strength. I had thought of using Gate to move back to Inn and sleep from the dungeon but it was too dangerous. If the secret is found that I can use a spell to transfer people. It'd get a lot of attention but if I'm found with a Skill that can Travel from a dungeon? The whole world's attention would be attracted.
The next morning I got myself some milk. As tea and coffee were both expensive. Tea more than coffee. So I would just drink milk in the morning. As I took a sip I got a notification.
{[108 Poison Knowledge] has found Poison in the beverage}
What's the point of finding it after I drink it?
{You're Immune to the Poision}
When I read the description of 108 Poison Knowledge I found that It also stops Poison from Activating for 3 hours and since it'll give you all kinds of knowledge about the Poison you can cure it then.
This was a Poison named Blue Snow King. It'll get your heartbeat to slow down gradually and get you to faint within a few minutes. After fainting your blood pressure would decrease to drastic levels and you'll die from a heart attack. The time it'll take for that is usually depending on the level of the patient. So to find out about this Assassin. I acted as if I'm getting dizzy and then fainted.
The cafeteria was full of people so they started talking. "Ah, looks like the guy drank too much last night."
"Oye, Molly get him to his room or something." Another one said to a waitress.
After a couple of minutes, I felt my body lifting up in the air. They got me to my room and put me on the bed. For half an hour I was just laying there motionless. It would have been really boring if not for the Status page. I was just reading detailed descriptions of my skills right now. Another half hour passed when I heard a sound. It was faint but after using True Demon Eye which can now let me see through stuff. I saw with my eyes closed a shadow. But because I was laying down and couldn't move. At this angle, it was really hard to see. Suddenly my Intuition told me of a deadly attack on my heart. I Teleported instantly using Distance and Direction which I had set up already in my mind as soon as I had heard the sound.
Teleport worked like a charm and I was at the door. I used True Demon Eye to put a Panic status on the shadow. It did not work. And the attacker immediately threw a dagger at me. The dagger sank deep into my arm as I tried to deflect it. I used Summon Familiar to summon Luna who had flown away in the morning to somewhere and since I didn't have a weapon right now I thought to use Summon Demonic Sword Tyrfing but it would be too risky. Even though I had found from Flora that not everyone knew the sword and it'll be quite hard to guess the sword or my identity just because of it. I didn't want to take any chances. So I instead used Wind Arrow continuously. After Traning with Flora, I had to learn how to modify my skills. Such as in Wind Arrow I could make small arrows of a great amount. Which is what I did. As the attacker tried to dodge it. Suddenly the whole atmosphere turned cold and the attacker fell to the floor. Luna had used her Skill. She was now Level 30 and was able to use these skills.

The attacker wasn't dead, I used True Demon Eye to put him in a Paralysis state and opened a gate to the Crying Lake. After checking him for weapons and removing them. Also removed a Poison pouch from his mouth which was behind his teeth. It could probably be stretched after biting it with his teeth. It'll poison him and he'll die. I bound him with ropes.
I didn't know how to get information from someone so I then went to the Adventurer Guild and found Flora.
"If you found a Poison Pouch then it's not a normal Assassin. Let's go. We need to be faster so he doesn't run away. Your ropes shouldn't even be counted as he'll burn through them easily. You need to use at least magic ropes. "
With Gate, we were already there. as we saw at the tree, where I had tied him. There was nothing. Both Flora and I were about to get closer to the tree before we suddenly stopped. Intuition told me another step and I'll be in danger. While Trap Defuser found out that there was a trigger there that'll blow up a Magic bomb. After defusing it we came to the tree and looked for any clues. There was nothing that we found. I had taken too much time going there. I should have used Gate to directly go to Flora instead of going close to the guild and doing it the regular way.
"I'll go find who's behind this. " Flora left after coming back to the city. I also went back to my Inn and checked out. Using Gate I went to the dungeon and started grinding. I already had everything in my Inventory so there was no problem. As the day came to end, I got back to Flora's office.
"Hi, I just tracked down your assassin." Flora started "It's from an international assassination organization called Folks and River. It turns out Eleric told his father to get you arrested and taken to their territory. My father was requested for it and when my father declined, saying that you're an honored guest of the house. Eleric's father hired the Assassin to just kill you. Usually, they'll keep sending assassins to you until you die."
"Usually? So did you settle it or something?" Then I used Telepathy so we could speak more causally.
"Did the Man/Women of Letters help?" I asked.
"Technically? No. You see when I sent them the information that you're actually a Man of Letters. They immediately withdraw from you. Because most organizations know that if the Men/Women of Letters made a move on them then they won't be able to do anything. So 9 out of 10 times if any organization comes to know you're a Man of Letters, they'll do their best not to offend you."
"Wait, isn't Men/Women of Letters very famous for being a secret organization? Like if everyone knows about them then is it really a secret organization?" I wondered aloud.
"Not just any organization. But yes, if you're talking about international secret agencies or people in the highest positions in government. They would know about the Men/Women of Letters." Flora clarified. And then continued "That remains me. I just received the word today. We're to take off to the Xelnos Kingdom 3 days from now."

Oh, I was also getting a little bored in just dungeon and stuff. And while I'm training Tulip a bit, I think traveling would be more helpful than teaching her Magic. She's already Level 35 after getting so much Exp from me. I also need to get Iris under the whole Discipline system. Then I'll have two people I can rely on. They're both innocent-hearted and loyal. And after spending more time with them I at least know I can trust them. And well Flora will be there too so it'll be a fun adventure.
"Sure, how will we be going?" I asked. She took out a map and started thinking. Turns out she hadn't decoded yet.

"Let's see, Demon Lands are in the northern continent. There's a direct route from The Gula Empire and Dominan Empire. However, both routes are blocked by heavy Military due to the conflict between Gula Empire and the Xelnos Kingdom. As well as Dominan Empire is as always hostile towards demons and would not let anyone pass. So our only choice is to take a long detour." She took out another map.

Both maps had a lot of differences. As if they were both of different places so I asked about that first. "Well making maps is hard. The bigger the land you're mapping the harder it is. The first one is issued by Dominan Empire while the other is made by a famous cartographer named Issei Hawk. As you might notice the first one has Dominan Empire's name in the biggest letters and all. Well, I'm getting off-topic. Maybe where you come from, maps are accurate. But as far as I know the larger the map the more inaccurate it's. But at least they give a good idea."
Yeah with all the magic items and magic technology. I forgot it's still not developed in many ways. This world sure was different. "Okay, so continue," I said.
"Yes, don't distract me. So while going from Land isn't possible we can go from the ship. First to the western continent. So from Beastman Lands and then from the Eleven lands, we'll take another ship, which will get us to the Demon Continent. But how do we go to the Western continent?" She started thinking.
I looked at the map and asked "isn't it simple to just go from the Rose Kingdom?" Since that looked pretty straightforward route.
"That's the problem. While going from the Rose Kingdom would be faster. I'll have to hide my identity there. Since Rose Kingdom's King just died last month. They're in internal strife right now. As a future Marquis of an allied kingdom. I'll be representing a lot in times like this. Thus going a little south to the Dimitri Kingdom and then taking the Ship to Beastman Lands would be far easier. But faking my identity is also an option." She seems to be contemplating it.
"I think it's best to go from the Dimitri Kingdom than, hiding your identity might make things worse if we're found out. Of course, I believe in your ability but still, why take chances?" I said.
"Then it's decided. We'll be taking off after three days. Will you be taking your party members with you?" She asked.
"Yeah, I think it'll be alright. We can just hide the whole Men/Women of Letters thing" I replied.
"You've turned off your Telepathy, please refrain from using names. Just call it The Organization." She scolded.
I seemed to have forgotten about that.
After leaving Adventurer Guild, I went back to the Inn and met Tulip and Iris. "So remember I told you about going on an adventure? We'll be leaving in three days." I said as soon as we started talking.
"Oh good, finally we'll be getting out of this boring city," Iris replied.
"So where will we be going to? Even if you don't have a destination, do you know which way?" Tulip asked.
"I'm thinking of going to the Western continent. You know see more of the world and all." I answered.
"Sounds good to me. Iris let's go shopping, we'll need lots of things for the journey." Tulip said excitedly.
I on the other hand didn't need anything so went to my room. As I read a book, which I had borrowed from the library. Luna came back from wherever she's been and started nudging me. She seems a lot more intelligent than most animals or monsters. Going out on her own and coming back in the evening or sometimes when I'm walking outdoors. But most importantly, the reason I believe she's quite intelligent is.
{Luna has asked you to pat her}
Her ability to tell me things through the system is, well amusing in a way.
