"Ready?", Terna asked.
"Y-Yes. I think...", Ikarisa stuttered.
Terna giggled. "It's alright. I'll do the big talk and take the lead. You can get in touch with the big stage first. Don't worry, I know exactly how a debut for the first time feels! Remember, when you're feeling like you're a bit flustered, close your eyes and take a deep breath! It's essential you know...and while you have your eyes closed, think of the notes and melody. If it makes you feel even better, you can think of the song you're about to sing as words directed to someone who makes you feel just right!"
"Thank you...let's go!", Ikarisa bravely said.
As they both walked out of the dressing room, they were greeted to the big stage. Lights left and right, not only from the stage itself, but from the surrounding buildings. Soldiers, civilians, fans were all laid everywhere, on the rooftops, on the sides and behind the stage, engulfing it completely and eagerly waiting for the show to start. Ikarisa froze on the sidelines, desperately trying to take everything in, as it was the first time she volunteered to have so many eyes laid upon her. Walking through the neon lights in her dazzling, reflecting outfit, Terna stood in front of everyone like she was used to and gave in her speech before the beginning.
"People of Depha! You have lost so much...your brethren have fallen...all because of one act of treason! Kagh who you've so much trusted before has betrayed you in the worst of ways! Taking away your bonds, homes and hope, he wants to force you into a life you don't want! So please I ask you....will you help us fight this madness?! Will you help us fight the dark, reclaim all that we lost and end this nightmare?!"
"Off with Kagh! Glory to Delpha! Terna, Terna, Terna!", the entire crowd shouted.
"Well, she certainly knows how to give a speech...are you both ready?", Lass looked at Anya and Ikarisa outside.
"I'm going down to the control center right now! Best of luck y'all!", Anya said through coms.
"You ready Risa?"
"Y-Yes! So uh...Lass. How do I look?!", Ikarisa snapped out, talking in the coms.
Lass sighed softly, “Ah…there she goes again with the costume changes.”, he whispered, "Perfect. Now relax, it's all for the fun, ok?", Lass reassured her.
"Hehe thanks! Best of luck out there too, Senpai! Remember to take the path from the underground passage!"
"I will, don't worry...stay safe out there."
"Everyone ready?!", Terna shouted. "To take back what's ours...to ignite our flame in the endless darkness...to reclaim our hope...with passion, grace and courage!", Terna raised her hand upwards. "Live...", she pointed to the town hall. "START~☆"
The giant stage instantly illuminated both itself and the night, as music also filled the once empty and hollow streets of Delpha. Balloons, headlights and much more released themselves into the night, as bystanders started cheering on, their house's rooftop's lit in an instant by both their smiles and all forms of colorful glowsticks.
"Holy hell...the mutt went ahead and did all that in a single day?!", Lass said in surprise.
"Well yeah, again, she did it off-screen. Of course she'd make it in a convenient and surprising amount of time.", Yuno shrugged as I questioned why I introduced him to the story for him to ruin it with casual explanations.
"Because I'm the best character of the bunch, surpassing the MC by a mile. Not to mention I'm technically, canonically, more powerful than him at the moment since I at least know how to control my powers.", he proudly shook my comment off.

"Who or what the hell are you talking about?", Lass asked Yuno. "Whatever, I don't have time for this now. Follow the army's lead in the main street, then jump in the underground entrance to take care of Kagh. Let's go."
"Charge!", the entire city, soldiers and bystanders alike shouted at the top of their lungs.
With that they began...bombshell after bombshell fell beside them but no one flinched. Terna's song heavily enchanted the entire marching army, causing them to receive no harm and fiercely charging in battle. Ikarisa and Terna where singing loud and clear holding nothing back. Lass couldn't help but feel proud for both of them and especially for Ikarisa. He never expected her to have such beautiful voice...or that sort of courage to do something like that. She really did overcome her fears-if even for a moment. Alas everyone fought bravely, not a single one of them falling to the concrete ground, while Kaghs thugs where dropping like flies. They managed to reach the place and Lass followed the exact directions Terna gave him as he went through the passage climbing up to the town hall's reception room while everyone was standing outside, covering his back. And then...
Lass came up. "Gyah...damn! Those vents are filthy as hell...worth to make an entire rebellion for the hygiene of this damn place."
"I feel like so nice being merged inside you right now heheh!", Yuno chuckled.
"Yea. 'Guardian' alright...", Lass scoffed.
"Wait, where the hell even are we? You sure this is the correct building?"
"Of course I am! I followed all instructions to the bone!"
"Alright, I'll take your word for it.", Yuno fell silent. "I can sense Obsulyte signatures!"
Lass prepared himself. "Right. Let's go."
A group of soldiers and bodyguards suddenly appeared before Lass, different in uniform, as to show their rank among others.
"What in the flaming blazes of hell?!", Mellistar echoed.
"Gyah!", Lass dropped his sword and grabbed his head.
"Lass, are you alright?! I can't see anything from the outside! I can't even see outside!"
Mellistar harshly and forcefully took more than full control of Lass's body and came out full force.
Mellistar stood at the start of the hallway, glaring at the enemy soldiers, chuckling. "All of you bastards...I thought different. 'Maybe it was just the name.', 'No, there's no way.'. But you...you dare present yourselfs in front of me...like this?!"
"W-What the hell is that?! A m-monster?!", the enemy soldier yelped.
Mellistar proceeded into brutally killing the soldier who yelped in front of him.
"I will destroy everything...and then burn the ashes left behind!", Mellistar laughed.
Outside, the music got louder and louder, as the concert and the army kept moving on closer and closer.
"Come on everyone! Let's sing together!", Terna uplifted the crowd.
"A-Am I doing ok?", Ikarisa blushed red in front of all the people.
"More than great Risa! I'm giving you the spotlight! Your go!", Anya said through her com device.
"W-Wait! W-What?!"
And as the spotlights moved towards Ikarisa, silence followed, as she herself was frozen stiff.
Terna bumped Ikarisa, singing by her side.
"Laid my arms down and gave in to fate
I always feel like I lost my way"
She winked at Ikarisa, giving her the following. The little goddess then softly gripped her microphone and paused for a moment.
"Remember, when you're feeling like you're a bit flustered, close your eyes and take a deep breath! It's essential you know...and while you have your eyes closed, think of the notes and melody. If it makes you feel even better, you can think of the song you're about to sing as words directed to someone who makes you feel just right!", Ikarisa remembered Ternas words.

Ikarisa then closed her eyes and took a deep breath. And as soon as she opened them, she then opened her mouth for the first time, casting aside the instrument she was playing, and let out her voice.
"I fell down in the abyss
I tried to fight and climb to bliss
I will no longer let allow these chains to bound
I'll yell, scream and fight till hope is found!"
The crowd was quick to go wild at the simple echo of the little goddess voice, as the army bellow got even further ahead, with more tenacity than ever.
"Holy-wow! Risa! That was fantastic! Your voice is phenomenal! Look, the combined powers of you and I helped everyone march further ahead! Come on, we can do it!", Terna happily cheered Ikarisa on
Ikarisa took a determined stance. "T-Thank you! That felt...nice!"
"You see?", Terna giggled. "It always takes that one first hard step!"
"I-I...yes!", Ikarisa tightened her grip on Terna's hand.
Terna then turned back to the crowd. "Come on everyone! We can do it!", she lift both hers and Ikarisa's hand in the air.
"Alright you guys, one final push! Let's go, go, go!", Anya bumped the lighting SFX up.
"Alright...ready?!", Terna looked at Ikarisa.
"Together!", Ikarisa looked straight at the crowd.
The city itself started to move to the rhythm of both Terna and Ikarisa singing n almost perfect sync.
"Once more I'm cast in the outside
Fears, regrets, all all blown aside
The world is wide and of life, waiting for me to see
No matter what, I'll never again flee
So look at me, the song this voice, melodically sings
This is it
It's my start
Wait and see
My adventure is just about to begin!"
And whilst the concert got louder and louder, back inside was still the rush of Mellistar to get to Kagh. After the laugh he had, Mellistar proceeded to easily and brutally destroy every single form of resistance that was presented in front of him. No one could face him, no one could match him...and those foolish enough to do so, met a most dishonorable and agonizing ending. Floor after floor, he climbed higher up the building, destroying whatever he found on his way, soldiers and objects alike. And to stigmatize his presence and impact, he but only left behind massive crystals of concentrated energy thus turning the entire building that used to be the city's crown into nothing more than a glorified, hollow, crystallized grave for those who were foolish enough to stay and face him, instead of running away.
"Waste of space!", Mellistar yelled as he cut down a giant door alongside with a squad of guards.
Through the giant metal door, he finally reached the last floor. And there he was standing. A face to show the corruption and madness, the one blessed by the gods to do their bidding.
Kagh slowly stood up. "Impressive!", he laughed. "You killed all of the dogs and came to the dog owner, eh? I've been waiting! Heard a lot of stories about you kid...been waiting to challenge you ever since you came here. Hell my own son even helped me to it! Well he's dead now but...at least he did as daddy wished! Let me see that smile now. We've wasted enough time as is, I can't wait to face you any longer!", he swiftly pulled out his sword.
Mellistar laughed as he wiped the blood off his face. "Maybe with all this filth on my face, you simply couldn't tell?"
Kagh surprise was enough to make even a madman come back to his senses. As those who come face to face with death are to forget all else, for their life is now the only thing they were to think. And the life that Kagh chose to live and build, whilst taking it for granted, he knew that there was no way to secure it as it was about to come to an end.
"W-What?! Y-You?!", Kagh's hand started to shake.
"Oh? You remember? Good. And here I thought you wouldn't...I've already murdered that filth you called a son. And this time...this time sly shits like you, who dare to oppose the acting authority and act on their own, will be eliminated without anything holding me back!"
Kagh took a step back. "W-Wait! How did you-huh?!"
Before he could make another move or say another word, his chest was deeply penetrated by a familiar looking lance Mellistar had shifted Excelsior into.
"Remember this. Remember her.", Mellistar created an energy sword and dashed to Kaghs back. "Remember me. Remember them.", he swiftly pulled out a gun he grabbed from a nearby soldiers body.
"Regret...nothing!", Kagh laughed and coughed through the waterfall of blood drooling from his mouth.
"Then send those you worshiped my message. Send them your screams from the depths of the bottomless hell."
A flash befell the entire room as the bullet swiftly penetrated Kagh's skull with ease in an instant, silence following to fill the empty halls. He cared not for an honorable fight. He cared not for a fair chance. He wanted an end, no matter the means.
"Hah. Precisely as week as I remembered.", Mellistar morphed and pulled Excelsior out of Kagh's body. "This is what was coming...", Mellistar gave control back to Lass.
"What in the hell was that?! Are you serious?!", Lass yelled.
"I'm...sorry.", Mellistar silently echoed.
"Dammit! Your whole alter ego has to pipe down right now! Another burst like that-", Yuno got interrupted by Mellistar.
"Pipe down midget. Look at him. No blood, not a scratch. I'd never put my host in danger. We all know that we, unfortunately, go as a bundle with him being the common factor. He dies I'm dead as well."
"Both of you shut it! I...saw everything when you went off like that. So...so be it. We can call it mission accomplished...", Lass looked around.
The entire structure started to give in to Mellistar's devastating blows and was about to quickly collapse on itself.
"Lass, the balcony area!", Yuno got out and pointed.
"Alright!", Lass dashed and jumped off the building.
And as he made his descent, he looked back at the destroyed building, witnessing the extend of what his powers could bring...
"Lass!", Ikarisa jumped forward, cushioning Lass's fall with her powers...
"Hmm...thank Risa.", Lass nodded and turned back.
"We've reached it! The goal is complete! The city is ours!", Terna yelled as the crowds cheers followed.
"Yea...we did it. But..there's a bit more left to be done."
"Lass...everything ok?"
"I'll be fine."
"Don't dwell for long big guy, we've got work to do!"
Even though the attack was over, the remnant of what the day still held was soon to be brought to the scene...

People. Harmony. Dysfunction
[Hiatus]People are extraordinary. They are glorious, chaotic, imaginative, grim, all kinds of smart and driven. They are capable of living in harmony or incredible destruction. They can be both caring and loyal but vicious and self-centred. However, Olivia wished that the first year of her PhD didn't have to showcase quite so much of the melting pot. People. Harmony. Dysfunction. is a story that follows a research group through the drama and challenges life throws at them. It has an (unspecified) modern setting and focuses on the characters. I've tried to rate this pre-emptively, but unfortunately it might change as the story evolves.

[participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] Nuri, an [Assistant Glassworker], only has a single Skill. It’s really not fair. He’s worked in the hot shop his entire life, following in his father’s footsteps after his parents passed away, but he’s stuck. Despite possessing above-average talent as an artisan, he still hasn’t shed his [Assistant] status, gained a second Skill, or even leveled enough to reach the first Threshold. Besides, he’s bored; most days he daydreams of adventure and becoming a hero, or pines for the renown that’s sure to be his if he evolves his Class into a [Master Glass Smith], but nothing ever changes—until suddenly, fate strikes, and nothing is ever the same again. These days, Nuri sees more magic, prestige, and adventure than he can handle as he gets swept up in realm-shaking conspiracies and desperate fights for his life. Maybe a boring life wasn’t so bad after all. Disclaimers: 1) Names were mostly chosen through random generators and aren’t necessarily final. If they seem derivative or boring, blame RNG. 2) Skills, Classes, levels, and the entire system is currently a work in progress; please be kind if it’s not very well fleshed out yet. 3) This is the first full-length novel I've set out to write without a single plot point ready. I had nothing in mind other than a recent visit to a hot shop. Molten glass is pretty awesome. 4) Related, I know much less about glass than I’d like. I did some research, but mistakes are bound to happen. If you have a correction, thanks! Please be polite about it. 5) The prose is my experimental attempt at first-person, present tense. I realize it may not be everyone’s preference, but I hope you’ll give it a try anyway!
