So yeah, I could feel it as the moon came up.
It was like the room was closing in on me, I had to get up and move around, and I wanted out, bad.
Nope, not going to happen, I got out of the army because I didn't like being bossed around, and then the police force because I was told to look the other way. I am not going to be some curse’s little bitch.
I plunked my withered old ass back into the chair and started taking long deep breaths while visualizing the symbol for infinity in front of my eyes.
Don’t know how meditating worked for others, but for me, this is what I did, and it worked for me now the same as it did when I was ill tempered little brute of a teenager worried about a ever worsening feeling of rage that was pushing me to pop someone in the face just for getting in my way in the halls of the high school if I didn't get things under control.
Worked for me then, worked for me now.
The feeling of being trapped kept pushing in from the sides of my head and my bones felt...soft, like hot pretzels fresh from the oven. I had to punch my legs because they were cramping up, and almost lost my focus whenever I did.
Next time, remember to hydrate.
Then it just...stopped, and I could hear the howls.
In a basement, behind thick walls, in a area were wolves had been wiped out since 1835.
I had looked that last bit up as part of my research into all things involving wolves.
I guess I could just feel them in my bones, a call, to run and join in.
Breath in, breath out, lazy eight, lazy eight, loop around and around, and breath in, breath out.

A old chase lounge cushion I had kept even after the water damaged lounge went in the trash since I had space in my attic, plus a sleeping bag, made up my bed for the night in that windowless room. I slept through dawn and the setting of the moon.
That was the first night.
I woke up with a urgent need to pee, but for the first time in nearly nine years I had slept all the way through the night.
All those little wounds I talked about that you get as you age without knowing where or when you had got them, all those and even the mosquito bites had healed up.
It didn't hurt, anywhere. I don’t know how long it had been since that had been true.
Plus I felt, not young, but not old either. Just not tired and worn out, every single moment.
I still had too much fat on me, and was just as out of shape as ever, but I was still pretty happy with what being bit had done for me so far. Even just getting full night’s sleep for once had made it worth it.
Back behind the doors of what I decided to now dub the changing room, I folded up the chair and set it aside, then took a hunched over stance in the middle of the room, ready to drop down to all fours.
Mentally told myself to become a wolf… nope, that didn't work.
Said it out loud, in various ways. De nada, also felt just as stupid as I had guessed it would.
Thought of being in the shape of a wolf, not happening.
Then, I tried to remember the sensation of being trapped, that warm pretzel feeling in the bones, soft as dough.
Then…
On my god it hurt.

Like being torn apart along every limb, and felling like you needed to throw up all the way from deep in your bowels.
It fully deserved every swear word there is to describe the pain.
Then my mouth was full of what turned out to be a bunch of filling and crowns I had to, not so much spit, as let drop out of my mouth as my body was stretching and molding like wet clay under cruel hands.
Good news, my clothing went and vanished, which turned out to be very good news, since bad news, I lost control of my bladder, and then my bowels, something old age had not yet done to me.
And hey, guess what? Taking on the form of a wolf means my sense of smell in the tiny little room I had just turned into my indoor outhouse had just improved by about a hundred fold.
So it turns out a sufficiently desperate werewolf can turn a door knob.
I mentally marked off on my internal checklist that turning into a werewolf didn't drive me to run out and hunt something down to tear into, in this case it just made me turn back into a human with a normal sense of smell as quickly as I could and drove me to get into a shower.
Turning back only hurt about half as much.

Ravyn's Nights - Book 3
Claire's life led her to love. Love led her to death. Death began her eternal struggle to retain both her love and her humanity through 5 centuries of endless nights. Book 3 covers the 19th century. "Ravyn's Nights" is a six book series, with each book covering a different century. Book 6 was actually started first, and it takes place in the near future, bringing the story to a final conclusion. I then started writing the rest of the series when I decided that I wanted to share the details of the life that made her into who she is in Book 6. At the time of posting the first chapter of the series, books 1-2-3 are completed and books four, five and six are in various states of completion. There is currently a novella following a side character that does include a few crossover chapters featuring the main character. The novella will be included in the completed versions of books 4 and 5.

In the End the Truth Remains
We all have our own philosophies that we subscribe to. We either create them ourselves, or we stumble across ones that resonate with us. Some may be evil, some may be good, some may be neutral, some may be incoherent, and some may be inconsistent. With this in mind, to what extent will we defend our beliefs? At the cost of our lives? Or at the cost of others? Beliefs are one of the most powerful and destructive things in the world. It drives us to act, pushes us to continue, and can lead to fulfillment. At first these things were only concepts that gave humanity meaning, but now they have become so much more…

The Collected Short Stories of Necrontyr525
Hey all, Necrontyr525 here! Rather then drown you all in a flood of one- to three-chapter mini-fics, I've decided to put out all of my short stories in an 'omnibus' format, sorted by series and by release date. These stories span my entire progress as a writer-for-fun over the past three plus years, with the corisponding variance in length, subject matter, and quality. Each chapter will get an Author's Note as a sort of forwards. Not nessisarily as a summary, but more to give you all some context for where each short came from, as well as any chapter-spicific trigger warnings. I can't think of any off of the top of my head, but better safe then sour.Comments, reviews, and constuctive criticizm is welcome, but please do recall that these works collectivly represent a great deal of my growth as a writer.Cover by the wonderful gej302! Go and show them some love!

Save a traitor, become a traitor—she’s thrust into a world beyond the choking mists, where not all is as it seems. But at least she has her stolen knowledge. Perhaps her illegitimate magic will make the path ahead easier. Perhaps not. Meanwhile, ripples of unease spread across the lands; trouble is brewing between faery factions.
