《The Chrome Horde》The Big Sputter, Choke and Bang, Sixteen Years Ago

The boy was born on the day when the thunder lizards finally took their revenge. The lights went out across the outskirts of Kvosgol Nuur the moment he drew his first breath, his cries extinguishing the artificial day.
As night fell like a shroud across the cities, the only sounds in the world were the lamentations of car horns, the useless cries of the steel-and-glass beasts that lay dormant in rows across the millions of miles of asphalt. In the hospitals, EKGs beeped their final mournful cries in unison, before finally going silent at the break of dawn.
The great factories uttered not a sound, however. Their machines had been left to their own devices and embraced death with quiet acceptance. Their gears simply ceased their grinding, leaving unfinished plastics stuck in their conveyor belts. Amid sea, freighter ships stopped dead, their great hulks abandoning their ceaseless struggle against the ocean. The turbines of jet airliners, realizing that their sustenance had run dry, coughed once, hummed twice and then ceased their endless turning. Like martyrs, they abandoned themselves to their fate, depriving the hundred-ton behemoth they had been propelling in the air to merciless gravity. No thought was spared on the screaming masses that were plunged to the ground inside it.
They fell with the grace of diving falcons, in their thousands. Most crashed into the ocean, compacting like gargantuan springs. First class smashed into business, which then smashed into economy. All distinctions were eliminated in an instant, sending broken bodies and comfort chairs and showers of peanuts careening through the air. Other planes fell into the wilderness, skidding across the desert or gracelessly smashing into mountains. Only a few landed in cities, bombarding skyscrapers and crushing man and machine alike into pulp.
It was later agreed, by the few scholars produced in the ages that were to come, that those screaming, burning, crushed thousands were actually the lucky ones. They did not, after all, have to suffer through the deprivations that were to follow. They did not waste away from lack of medicine or experience the slow, encroaching death that comes from starvation, as the human body cannibalizes itself for an entire month before finally pulling the plug. Those dead tens of thousands did not have to suffer through the harsh winters that followed, trapped in the steel-girder cubicles that had once constituted their homes. They didn’t find themselves at the mercy of the elements, those fortunate martyrs. Adding insult to injury, they were not the ones who had to gather the massed dead, dig graves and man the unmarked hecatombs. They escaped the depths of despair, when the survivors dug up those very same hecatombs that their kin or themselves had dug, to excavate their remains and cull the rotted flesh, looking for fresh bits to bite into, to quench the fire in their bellies.

According to the scholars of the world that was to be, they were the fortunate ones, those first millions of dead. After all, they argued as they sat huddled around the fires of their camps dressed in the tattered three-piece-suits of their ancestors, they never had to suffer the cruel medicine of the Chrome Horde.

Kind’s Kiss
MAGIC DOESN'T KILL, NOT BY ITSELF. IT NEEDS A LITTLE HELP. Jessica DeRidder is a substitute teacher and mage in hiding, her daughter Ellen a killer on the run. Their next job lands the mother-daughter team in Hellhole, a small town in the middle of nowhere. All they need to do is their job. For Mom to identify the problem, and for Ellen to... fix it. Easy. Simple. But not this time. The pair find themselves caught in the struggle between the Man-in-White and the Wicked Witch of the West. A mysterious image and the theft of a deadly flower lead the pair to a score of dead prisoners, magical drug dealers, and red-eyed assassins falling from the sky. And somehow it all seems to be related to Ellen's murky past. All Ellen wants to do is do her homework, eat ice cream, and protect her newfound friends (not necessarily in that order). She'll go all-in, guns blazing. But when the smoke clears there may be nothing left but a stranger's past and a lonely future. --- 'Kind's Kiss' is a light, modern-day fantasy, easy on the magic, heavy on the snark. Though complete it is still a work in progress. One reviewer described it as 'Buffy meets Sabrina, as done by Tarantino'. I'm still not sure if I should consider that a compliment or hire a hitman :-)

The way to get status points were based on the way in Unlimited Power - The Arcane Path. Note: I'm only borrowing the way to get status points as I thought it was cool. I am an amateur author and am writing this as a cool hobby to get me through quarantine. If you see any grammar mistakes or anything, please let me know. Criticism is accepted, but don't use that as an excuse to just hate the book. If you don't like the book, tell me why so I can improve upon it. Cheers! Schedule: 1 chap a day

Cennet's Cyborg
Jared Ugo, a child genius under the nickname ‘Ban’ is caught between his own haunting past and a bleak future. Whilst he dealt with the pain of guilt and suicidal thoughts over the years, a storm was quietly brewing. That is, until the person closest to him passed away in an accident. His mind plunges, but alas, this creates an opportunity for him to close the distance between him and his mother, a chance to seize the motherly love he’s yearned for the first time in his life. But that hope would be trampled over as he finally meets the ghost of a man forged from his own sin. He struggles to stay sane as the revenge-driven father seeks to mentally break him down. Jared fights the demon he created, David Cennet, and amidst the hardships, still tries to keep his sense of morals intact despite his growing inclination to disregard them. PS: I've yet to properly proofread this one (when do I ever?) but I figured I'd upload it and maybe get some feedback in the mean time as I'm more focused on other stories and excessive drinking. Dark Wolf
There are monsters in space! What is the best thing in the galaxy? Killing supernatural monsters, making love with hot women, and seeking adventures. That is John Jaeger's typical life as a Space Paranormal Defense agent. However, he should have known better to bed a werewolf prostitute. Not only she cursed him into a cyborg monster, he suddenly becomes irresistible to women. Even his squadron of monster girls can't keep their hands off him. But does that really matter? Together, John and his girls track down demons, malevolent ghosts, and bloodthirsty creatures from harming the human colonies. Saving the galaxy is more difficult than being a werewolf. Warning: Some scenes contain sexual content and graphic action violence. P.S, my word count will be between 500 to 2,000 words in each chapter.

Chosen of Silver
In the lands of Neden, children with gates--birthmarks able to accept and hold the power of soulstones--are collected every five years, when they reach age fifteen to nineteen. It is nearly time for the newest cohort to be celebrated and then conscripted, and with that day looming, those whose lives are about to change wait impatiently for their destiny to arrive...or try to find a way to avoid it: Cal, a refugee from the nation of Caas, doesn’t want to go to Kellingherth to gain the powers of man, beast, or element, and he certainly doesn’t want to join the war efforts after that. The only things he’s dying for are a good drink, dance, and girl, in no particular order. His best friend Raff prefers his sweat to come from a hard day's training than an evening carousing and wishes Cal did, too. He wants to accomplish more with his life than becoming a simple palace sentry like his estranged father and will do whatever it takes to get there. And they are just two of many. When the tenuous peace of the realm is threatened by the arrival of an old enemy, these young chosen will likely be swept up in events rather than prevent them, but the future cannot be rushed or escaped, only experienced.
