Angelo quickly climbs out of the car just so he could open the door for me before I could. I glare at him for doing that because I'm fully capable of doing something so simple for myself.

I jump out of the beautiful car and stand in front of him as he closes the door. Nicola climbs out of the driver's seat and stands behind Angelo.

"Let's get this straight," I say while placing my hand on my hip. I point my finger at them with my other hand and their eyes widen. "I'm more than capable to open something as simple as the car door for myself."

"Yes, Miss Manson," they say while bowing their heads and I roll my eyes. I walk away from them but I know they are going to look up and realise I'm gone.

It only took three seconds before I felt their presence behind me again. We walk into the supermarket and I grab a trolley from the side.

I can already see a bunch of people staring at me, mostly at these two men behind me. It would be weird to go do something as simple as grocery shopping with two bodyguards so I get why they are looking at us like this.

I pull my grocery list out from my pocket and fold it into three parts. I unfold the paper and tear up the folded sections. "Take this," I say while handing a piece of my grocery list to Angelo and the other to Nicola.

They stare at the pieces of paper for a while before looking up at me. "Can I say something about this Miss Manson?" I nod and Angelo sighs. "I don't think this is enough food for you," he says while looking down at the piece of paper in his hand.

There's probably a total of twelve food items on this list and they are in small quantities so I get what he's talking about, but I don't care what he thinks.

"I don't eat a lot and I don't cook dinner for anyone but myself so I find no use in buying a lot of food," I explain with a shrug.

"This is not healthy Miss Manson, you need to eat more," Angelo worries and I narrow my eyes at him. "Sorry for intruding Miss Manson," he quickly apologises as he notices my look.

I sigh and push the trolley forward. "Just go get what is on the list and meet me by the candy isle when you are done," I say as I walk away.

It's my choice to not eat as much as everyone else thinks I should be and I don't like it when people try to tell me how to eat.

It's not like I'm slowly dying from not eating enough. I'm eating just fine and enough, in my opinion, to stay alive and I'm far from being unhealthy.

I look down to the piece of my grocery list and see that I got most of my produce, which is actually not a lot. I sigh as I approach the produce.

I grab what's on my list and make my way to the candy isle. Angelo and Nicola are already standing there with the rest of my food. "That was quick," I say while pushing the trolley closer to them.

They dumped the few food items into the trolley, Nicola dropping two other items I know for a fact that weren't on my list. I glare at him but choose to not say anything about this.

"Let's go," I grumble while pushing the trolley to the side.

"You don't want any form of sugar?" Nicola asks while holding up a bag of cookies. I giggle and hold my hand out to him. He places the bag of cookies in my hand and smiles a little.

These two aren't that bad.

Nicola and Angelo help me carry my two shopping bags that aren't even that heavy up the stairs. I unlock the door and I invite them into my apartment when I see them staying outside instead of following me in.

They nod and walk into my apartment, their eyes widening when they see the inside of this place. They hand the shopping bags to me and I thank them as I quickly walk to the kitchen.

I place the plastic bags on the counter and place food items in their rightful places. I fold the plastic bags up before placing them in a box with the other plastic bags I have.

I grab a bag of chips that I bought a while ago but never opened and the bag of cookies Nicola made me get. I look around my cupboards for bowls and find two large bowls for the snacks.

The plastic bag of chips crunches as I dump the bag of sweet chilli flavoured chips into the big bowl. I move to emptying the entire bag of cookies into the other bowl and smile when I'm done.

I walk back to the living room with the bowls in hand. My eyes lift up from the snacks to see Angelo and Nicola still standing by the door.

"Why are you guys still standing?" I ask while walking past them. "Sit down," I giggle while pointing to my couches.

I only have three couches, one of which is a small, dark grey, L shaped couch. I mostly lazy around on the L shaped couch or chill on the single seat, the other three seater couch ignored by me most of the time.

"How long have you guys been working for Vincenzo?" I ask while placing the bowl of chips and cookies in front of them.

They are sitting upright, their chests up and their heads stiff. They look so tense and alert as if someone is going to bust in here and try to kill us.

"Two years," Nicola answers in a firm tone.

I lean forward and take a few chips out of the bowl. "How old are you guys?" I ask before throwing the few chips in my hand into my mouth. I try my best to not chew loudly.

It's kind of weird having two random men sitting right in front of me while I eat.

"Twenty, both of us," Angelo answers in the same firm tone as Nicola.

"Excuse me?" I choke on a sharp chip and start aggressively coughing. Nicola is up from the couch and behind my couch before I could even blink.

It's so embarassing that I'm choking on a potato chip right now.

He gently pats my back and tells me how to swallow properly. I manage to get the sharp chip down my throat and he smiles down at me. "Thanks," I whisper, slightly embarassed about this whole interaction.

He nods and goes back to sit next to Nicola. I clear my throat and decide to grab a cookie instead. I examine the cookie and see the little nuts peaking though the hard surface.

"You guys aren't going to have some?" I ask while pushing the bowls closer to them.

"Miss Manson–"

"Call me Nyx please," I cut Angelo off with a small smile.

"But that wouldn't be professional Miss Manson," Angelo argues and I groan. Why are they being so hard to work with? I just want us to be friendly with each until Vincenzo thinks I'm not good enough for him.

If they are going to be my protection detail then I don't want it to be awkward between us. They are going to follow me around and stand outside my door for a few days so it's going to get weird at some point if we don't talk.

"You guys are my assigned bodyguards, right?" They nod and I grin. "I'm technically your boss, right? Well after Vincenzo of course," I blurt out the last bit and they nod.

It's clear that they've been trained to follow the rules but they can bend the rules just a little, for me of course. "Then as your boss, I order you to call me by my name or I will call Vincenzo and tell him to fire the both of you," I give them an empty threat.

I don't even have his number so I can't call him and I won't actually make him fire them for not calling me by my name.

"Sorry Miss... I mean Niex," Angelo struggles to say my name and I laugh.

"Nyx, it's Nyx, like saying Nics," I giggle while shaking my head and he nods.

This is going to be fun.
