Shoutout to @secretodyssey
Micajah Rye's PoV:
- "I Know You Won't Be Needing Much Clothes, Tonight."
"Move in with me?" Seneca's soprano voice calls me, and I turn around in surprise.
After our epic kiss, we'd spent an hour in the park, under the stars, just making mindless conversation. Finally, when the clock hit 10, we had to leave, because it was a school night.
On reaching home, I'd kissed Seneca one more time, and we'd restrained ourselves before things got too heated, departing to our respective rooms. I'd been expecting and hoping that Seneca would come here, when I was sorting out my books for tomorrow, but not this.
"Really?" I ask, unable to control my surprise.
Seneca pushes herself off the doorframe, walking to me.
"Yes, Really. And about that stupid punishment...I'm so sorry about that. I just...I knew that if I threatened Nora, you'd get hurt," She's almost a foot away from me now, "and if I don't threaten her, I'll become mental with all the...rage. So, I lashed out at you without thinking...I...I shouldn't have done that...And, I'm so sorry for what I did—"
I place my hand over her mouth, covering her mouth with my palm. "Shh," I shush, giving her a stern look. "I would've been hurt, had you not come to my room that night. But you did, and that made me happy. So, stop apologizing over nothing, and help me pack my things to your room, already."
I feel her grinning broadly under my hand. She then shoves my hand away from her mouth with a smirk.
"Oh, I don't know about anything, but I know you won't be needing many clothes." She winks suggestively, and instantly, dark red splotches bloom across my cheeks, coloring them a dark shade of pink.
"Shut up!"
+++
"Micajah Rye, your mother wants to see you." Mr. Bennet informs, looking up from the note that the volunteer in the school's office just brought in.
All eyes turn to me, as people immediately jolt up from their half-asleep state. I flush slightly in embarrassment.
When he looks at me expectantly, I stand up in confusion, scratching my temple with a finger.
"Um, Me?" I point to myself, raising my brows.
"Yes. Who else is named Micajah here?" Mr. Bennet asks sarcastically, smiling as he shakes his head.
"Uh, Okay..." I sigh and put my book back into my bag, zipping it close. I sling it over my shoulder and make my way out, thanking the volunteer and Mr. Bennet as I make my exit.
I walk to the Main Office of the school, near which we have the waiting area, where family members meet their relatives in case of emergencies.
When I round the hallway and enter the straight corridor leading to the office, I stop dead on my tracks.
There, seated on the chairs outside the room is my, 'Mother.'
Fear strikes my heart for a second.
Nothing to worry about, Micajah. She can't do anything to you here. This is a public place.
The thought gives me some solace, and I take a deep breath, pushing aside all nervousness.
My face twists in an involuntary scowl.
She looks well put together and neat, with her platinum blonde hair done in a neat up-do, and her small frame adorned by a clean, fresh looking dress.
She looks like a trophy wife.
I shake my head and walk faster towards her, wanting to get over with this nightmare already.

The sound of my shoes alert her of my arrival, and she looks up at me in surprise, her crystal blue eyes bright and clear.
So she's not crazy mom now.
I almost stop for a second in surprise, because it's been so long since I actually met her sober.
And with a sane mind.
I come to a halt, approximately three feet before her, my hands automatically tightening around my grip on the straps of my bag.
"Micajah..." She almost sighs out my name in her melodic voice, that apparently used to make men melt, as she stands up slowly from her perched position.
"What?" I ask almost bitingly, unable to hold in the venom in my voice.
"I heard that you have met your Mate. The Alpha." She says calmly, ignoring my harsh tone. I look away from her icy blue eyes, feeling an eerie sense of nervousness and churning in my stomach when I do so.
Because she looks too calm.
Like she's on drugs or something.
"Yeah." I snap, clenching my jaw.
"Good. But be very careful, Micajah. Alphas are very shrewd. They use you till they want you and throw you away." She advises in a soft voice and places her hand on my upper arm in an almost maternal gesture. I almost flinch back, but since she moves so slowly, I saw it coming and resisted a wince.
But still, I shrug her hand off.
"You don't have to tell me that," I reply bitterly,
"She's treating you okay, isn't she?" She asks out of nowhere, confusing the hell out of me.
"Of course she is!" I exclaim, finally looking at her.
She looks almost regretful as she appraises me up and down, and then sends me a longing glance.
"You've grown so much..." She adds in a whisper, raising one hand as if she's about to touch my cheek. This time,I flinch — unable to control the urge to do so — and crane my neck back. Fortunately, she pulls her hand away quickly to her side. "Take care, my son." She looks at me once again and nods her head, turning around. She doesn't say anything else, and just walks away.
I stare at her retreating back in confusion, wondering what the hell just happened.
Maybe this is another type of crazy?
+++
When the bell for lunch rings, I stand up, slowly throwing my belongings into my bag.
Why did she come here all of a sudden? And why is she talking like that—?
"What's the matter, Cage?"
I'm pulled back to reality by a crisp voice, and a finger snapping in my line of vision. "Huh?"
"You seem so...out of it, today. What happened? Is it that Parker kid? I knew I should've kicked hi—"
"Seneca, Seneca, Seneca." I lean across my chair and place both hands on her arms, stopping her. I look into her graphite eyes intently. "It's not him...Something else happened."
"What?"
"Yeah...My Mom...she visited school today...Said some weird stuff about being careful around Alphas...I don't know, something's going on."
"You think?"
"I'm not sure, just this feeling..." I let my hands drop, turning around to stare out the window.
"Okay." I feel her step forward as well, and the heat from her body caresses my back, letting me know that she's very close.
"Um, what?" I turn my head to the side, looking at her with raised brows.

"We'll visit your ex-Pack then. I have some issues I want to discuss with Alpha Parker." Seneca says impassively as she looks out the window, though her eyes aren't unfocused. They're sharp and calculating, and I just know she's thinking something.
I don't interfere.
"Hm." I hum in agreement, thoughtful, as I consider the offer, "Okay, I guess. I'll get to see the new nurse as well."
Seneca's eyes turn to meet mine sharply, and she gives me one nod.
I nod back, understanding that she's onto something.
+++
"You sure this is the right time?" I ask, turning in my seat, after buckling myself up.
Once we'd gotten home after school and had freshened up, Seneca had walked into the hall with the keys dangling from her fingers, asking me to join her on this expedition.
I'd accepted, albeit I'm still reluctant about the whole plan.
"Yes. We have the ALMC this weekend and we have to hold your ceremony a day before that. So, that leaves us the weekdays. And since we're going on a school night, what's wrong with it being today? There's no use in prolonging the inevitable." Seneca shrugs, as she shoves the key into the ignition, and presses the 'Start' button.
"I know...But, I...I'm not sure this trip will be a pleasant one..." I trail off, trying to control the growing ball of nervous energy in the pit of my stomach.
"Nothing in this world is pleasant." Seneca gives me a sidelong glance and a smile, turning to the front as she pulls the car out of the driveway.
"I know." I assert, "Except you." We add at the same time and then grin at each other.
+++
"Hey...Something more happened today..." I say, fidgeting with the buttons on the stereo system.
Seneca turns to meet my eyes with a 'Go on' nod, and I continue, wondering how to say.
"I'm guessing this is about something I don't like?" Seneca raises one brow, and I nod reluctantly.
"Yeah...Lenora talked to me today..."
Silence.
"She did?" Seneca asks flatly after several beats, fixing her eyes on the road.
I nod, recalling the memory.
+++
I walk out of 7th period with a smile, feeling happy at the way Ms. Smith encouraged me for getting a good grade.
All teachers should learn to be like her. She's just so kind...
"Mike."
I stop instinctively at someone's call, but then recognize that irritating voice and turn around, speed-walking in the opposite direction.
"Mike!" She calls again, and I can feel her rushing to catch up with me.
I ignore Lenora and walk faster, but she ahead of me and stops, turning around with her arms outstretched. "Mike, please listen—"
"Please leave me alone, Lenora." I snap in a hard tone, trying to walk around her. I see the moment she flinches at my use of her full name, but she moves wherever I try to move, blocking my path.
"Lenora, just let me—"
"Mike, you gotta listen—"
"Lenora, please, you've done enough—"
"You don't know what—"
"Just leave me the hell alon—"
"He said he would reject me if I don't yell at you and hurt you!" She exclaims, throwing her hands up in the air.
It takes me a few seconds to realize the meaning behind her words.
My jaw drops. "What—He did?"
She blinks quickly, and I can see her eyes filling up with tears.
Oh, Nora...
"Yes. That's the only reason I did what I did. And I thought you should know that." She smiles softly and turns around, leaving me a shocked and a jumbled mess in the hallway.
+++
More Silence.
"What do you think?" I ask after a moment, anxiously looking at her.
She sighs. "I know that she might've sounded genuine to you, but I don't trust her. Who knows? This might even be a plan of theirs to guilt trip you." She turns to glance at me for a second, "And from what I'm seeing, it's clearly working."
"I know." I sigh resignedly, "I'm afraid that might be true."
+++
We've reached the Parker Pack.
Thankfully, we've come straightly to the Alpha's office, to have a word with him, before meeting my Mom's nurse. So we haven't run into anybody. Yet.
"Follow me, Alpha Mordecai." Jackson McGuire says in a polite tone, ignoring me altogether as he offers Seneca a timid smile.
I glower at the back of his head.
Seneca's fingers curl in a fist, as she steps forward, and I can almost feel her urge to do something violent. So I place a hand on her lower back, trying to calm her. She turns to her left sharply, meeting my eyes with her own, which are now flashing cerulean.
I don't break my gaze from hers, as I rub her back slightly. Calm down, I don't mind.
She takes a deep breath, and nods, turning to the front.
Jackson is gaping at us.
I raise a brow.
As if he was shaken out of a reverie, he shakes his head rapidly and nods, turning around and leading the way through the familiar mansion.
I can navigate this place easily, as I've been here often as one of the extra cleaning crew after parties, but I didn't want to intimate Seneca about that particular detail.
It would cause unwanted tension, now.
We reach Alpha Parker's door.
"Alpha, Alpha Mordecai is here." Jackson says in a low voice, and there is a low thump from the other side, like the closing of a book.
And then, the door opens, revealing Alpha Parker himself standing there, opening it for us.
He hasn't changed a bit. His dark hair is gelled back in a neat slick, revealing his abundant forehead; a result of his middle-age. He's wearing his usual attire, full sleeved shirt tucked into a pair of neatly ironed formal trousers, with his belt gleaming in the neon lights above. He smiles broadly at us in welcome, and Jackson steps in first, bowing and making a sweeping gesture with his hand, indicating us to come inside.
I step inside the room, and only then realize that's something's wrong.
Seneca hasn't come in.
I turn around, only to find her standing near the doorframe, with one foot hovering as if she's about to step in. Her brows are knit together in confusion, as she stares at her foot intensely and then looks up, meeting my questioning gaze with a frown.
"Not possible..." She mumbles under her breath.
"Seneca?" I call, confused.
She looks up at me, then turns to Alpha Parker. She then turns to me once again, before turning to him fully at last.
"Why didn't you tell my Mate that you're his Father, Alpha Parker?"
My jaw drops for the third time in a day.

I hope not.
