《Welcome To The Family》The Basement

"What is going on?" Noah asked.
Gabe grabbed my wrists so that I would stop punching him. He let out a deep breath and looked over his shoulder at Noah.
"She tried to kill me," Gabe said.
"Kill you?" Noah asked. "How did she try to do that?"
"She tried to suffocate me with a pillow."
The corner of Noah's lips twitched into a smirk. I tried to yank my hands free from Gabe's grasp.
"I didn't know you had that in you, Lindsay," Noah said.
"Fuck off!" I yelled.
Gabe twisted my wrist at an odd angle. I screamed as the pain shot down my arm to my elbow.
More doors opened and I could see Taylor and Dylan standing behind Noah. I gritted my teeth as I tried to free my hand again. Noah ran his fingers through his hair. He looked at me and then over at his younger sons.
"I guess this is a good learning opportunity," Noah said. "I have never had the chance to show you how to discipline your girl."
My heart pounded. I was in big trouble. Noah was going to make a spectacle out of punishing me. I had to get out from underneath Gabe. I thrashed my body from side-to-side as I tried to push him off.
"Dylan and Taylor," Noah said, "come downstairs into the basement with me. Gabe bring Lindsay down in a couple of minutes."
"Will do," Gabe said.
Noah stepped around us and went down the stairs. Taylor and Dylan followed behind him. I was panting for breath as I fought against Gabe's hold. I needed to get into the kitchen and grab a knife to protect myself. Gabe was much larger than me and I could not get out from underneath him.
"Lindsay, calm down," he said.
"No!" I screamed. "You're going to kill me."
"We would never kill you."
"You killed all of my friends." The tears started streaming down my cheeks. "You are going to kill me."
"Hey, ssshhh," Gabe tried to comfort me.
He let go of my wrist with one hand and placed his finger against my lips. I pushed against his chest with my free hand. He leaned down closer to me.
"We are going to teach you a lesson," he said. "We are not going to hurt you."
A door creaked. I blinked to try and clear my blurry vision. Jenny was walking up to us as she tightened a robe around herself. She dug the heel of her hand into her eye.

"What is going on?" she asked.
"Go back to bed, Mom," Gabe said.
"Is everything okay?"
"Mom!"
Gabe looked over his shoulder. Jenny's jaw dropped open. She looked like she was about to say something, but she knew better than to. She closed her mouth, turned and walked back into the bedroom.
"Let's go, sweetheart," Gabe said.
He got up onto his feet. He kept a hold of me and pulled me up. I shook my head as the tears returned.
"Please," I cried. "Please, don't do this."
"We have to," he said.
I went to get onto my knees to start begging, but Gabe stopped me. He pulled me close and pressed his lips against mine.
"Walk and we will go easy on you," Gabe said.
"What?" I asked.
"If you walk down to the basement, I will tell Dad that you are already behaving," he said. "If I have to carry you, this is going to be worse."
I let out a shaky breath. Gabe raised an eyebrow as he waited for me to make my decision.
"I'll walk," I said.
"Good girl," he said.
He kissed my temple before he let go of my arms. He put his hand on my hip and guided me down the stairs. I thought about running once we got into the kitchen. I could get a knife, but what good would that do? I not only had to fight off Gabe, but Noah, Taylor, and Dylan were also a threat.
Gabe opened the basement door and we went down the cement stairs. The basement was lit by a single bulb dangling from the ceiling. A post was in the middle of the room. A mattress covered by a plastic sheet. I thought that I was going to be sick when I saw the collection of bones lining the wall.
I stopped and Gabe pushed me forward. He grabbed my arms. I dug my heels into the cracked concrete floor as Gabe used his chest to push me further into the basement.
"Remember what I said," Gabe whispered into my ear.
I squeezed my eyes shut and shook my head. My heart was hammering so hard that I thought that I was going to throw up.
"I'm surprised you did not drag her down here kicking and screaming," Noah said.
"Lindsay decided that she is going to behave," Gabe said. "She walked down here herself."

"Good to hear," Noah said. He gestured down to the mattress. "Lie down."
"Please," I said, my voice was barely above a whisper. "Please, I am so sorry."
"We cannot let you get away with this," Noah said. "Lie down."
Gabe let go of my arms. He patted my hip before pointing at the mattress. I sucked in a deep breath before taking a shaky step forward. I kept my gaze down as I walked over to the mattress. The plastic crinkled underneath me as I sat down. I brought my knees up to my chest and wrapped my arms around myself.
"I said to lie down," Noah said.
I unravelled myself and lied down on my back. I sucked in my bottom lip as I saw them all circling me.
"Hands above your head," Noah said.
I raised my hands up. My fingers brushed against the pole. Noah pulled a coil of rope out from behind his back. I bolted up so that I was sitting. Gabe crouched next to me and put his hands onto my shoulder. He pushed me back down.
"Lindsay, remember to behave," Gabe said. "If you behave this won't be as bad."
I closed my eyes, and a few more tears escaped. Once I lied back down, Gabe grabbed my wrists and held them above my head. Noah kneeled on the floor. I kept my eyes closed as Noah was teaching his sons the best way to tie my hands to the post. The rope was rough against my skin as he tied me down with a tight knot.
"Open your eyes," Noah said.
I let out a sob before I opened my eyes up. I flinched as Noah reached out and moved a piece of my hair out of my face. A smile crept across his lips.
"Now, why are we doing this, Lindsay?" he asked.
"Please," I cried. "I promise I will never do this again. I'll behave."
"Tell me what you did."
"I tried to kill Gabe."
"Why would you do that?"
"I just want to go home."
Noah brushed the back of his fingers along my cheek. A shiver ran up my spine.
"Lindsay, you are home," he said. "You are Gabriel's wife."
I closed my eyes and shook my head.
"Keep your eyes open," Noah said.
My teeth dug into my bottom lip as I opened my eyes back up. Fingers ran through my hair. I turned my head to the side to see that it was Gabe.
"You are going to be so happy soon," Gabe said.
"We are your family," Noah said. "You are always going to be loved and protected by us."
"Please," I let out one final plea.
Noah grabbed my chin and turned my head so that I was staring up at the ceiling. I balled my hands into a ball.
"We are your family," Noah said. "I want you to repeat that."
"You are my family," I said.
"Say it again."
"You are my family."
I struggled not to squeeze my eyes shut. I wanted to block away this reality that I was stuck in.
"Good girl," Noah said. "I want you to say you love Gabe."
Every fiber of my being wanted me to scream at them, but that would get me nowhere.
"I love Gabe," I said.
"Again," Noah said.
"I love Gabe."
"One more time."
"I love Gabe."
Noah let out a light chuckle as he combed his fingers through my hair.
"Good job," he said. "While you're down here I want you to think about that."
"You are going to leave me down here?" I asked.
"Yes," he said. "You are going to stay down here until your attitude changes."
Noah stood up and brushed the dirt off of his pajama bottoms. Taylor and Dylan also stood up. Noah whispered something into Gabe's ear before he left the basement. Taylor and Dyaln followed behind him.
Gabe let out a deep breath. He cupped the side of my face with his rough hand. I pulled on the rope and it burned my flesh.
"You cannot leave me down here," I said.
"It's not going to be for forever," he said. "You just need some time to think."
"Please, Gabe," I said.
He shook his head. He leaned down and kissed me before standing up. He did not say anything as he walked out of the basement. I called after him, but he did not come back. I screamed when he flicked out the light and closed the basement door.

Synergy
Dear Inspector, Please accept this letter as my formal resignation from being a Player. Hey! Laugh all you want, but I had to try. With no rules down here, who's to say that I can't resign? Anyway, my reasons are simple: I'm neither a gamer nor a hero. You got the wrong person for the job. Sure, the pay is decent and I could pretty much live like a king if, you know, I wasn't so busy trying to survive. I have major concerns about the demonic dagger bound to my soul too. Come to think of it, I've never asked to be transported to this fantasy land either and would like you to return me home, thank you very much. I don't want supernatural powers, I don't want to complete quests after quests, and I don't want to be your test subject anymore. What? I'm not whining, you're whining. Stop making excuses and let me leave already. Thank you for your understanding, and I hope you'll find a better replacement after I'm gone for good. Sincerely,Randel, the Mad Painter What to expect from Synergy: --> Some GameLit elements are presented subversively. If you want the protagonist to “play the game” properly, this might not be the story for you.--> No filler chapters; the story's structure is already plotted out. It's going to have six story arcs.--> Character development happens slowly, over many chapters. Don't expect a perfect protagonist right off the bat.--> Some romance, but it will never be the main focus.--> Humor and dark elements in equal measure, but not to the extent that I’d label this story as “Comedy” or “Grimdark”. ... and lots and lots of Author's Notes. See you on the other side of the portal!

Thorns of Jade [A Progression Fantasy LitRPG Adventure]
[participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] Solo Leveling meets Chainsaw Man in this fun new LitRPG Series To become the king of Kissen, Noah Hearts trains to become the strongest swordsman in the world. The only problem — he can’t use Aura at all! Everything changes when he’s left for dead in a forest on the Kissen Fields… In a world where horrific creatures known as “demons” terrorize mankind, those who wield the mysterious force known as “aura” are the only ones who can fight them. These fighters call themselves the “Wolves of Haven”, and strive to create a world where demons no longer roam their lands! Though Noah Hearts is an exceptional swordfighter for a young man, his total inability to use aura means he could never hope to defeat the demons! Despite this major setback, he still hopes to become the king of Kissen and create a better world for those in his country! As he walks home from his daily training, his world is shifted upside down when he sees a few familiar faces in his home… This is the first draft of what I want to be a 9 volume series. I'll be editing, rewriting, and releasing the volumes on Amazon once they're finished. I'll admit, I'm finishing chapters in sprints because I want to participate in the writathon (Apr. 2022) so I apologize if there are some issues with the prose. Point them out to me and I'll fix them! Anyway, I have no backlog, but I plan on uploading chapters as I finish them. I don't want to spend weeks re-editing and never publishing like I used to, so I'm just gonna post when it's done. Like I said, this story is my take on a mix between solo leveling and chainsaw man. Specifically, the MC is the only one that can consciously level up (sort of), and the plot is fast paced and emotional just like chainsaw man. There are plenty of other inspirations, like HxH, Jojo, JJK, Cradle, and even FF6, but the first two are the biggest. Basically, if you don't like Shounen stuff, this probably isn't the story for you. Regardless, I hope you all like the story!
