So since the spoopy season is upon us, I have Ruelle on shuffle and I'm cracking out the vampire lore for some AUs to fit in with the spooky season!

The vampire lore I'm rolling with

Rule 1. Vampires cannot live without blood. They'll die of blood loss pretty much if they don't.

Rule 2. They have too drink blood because they can't produce they're own. Luckily for them, once ingested their body manages to keep it functional for about a month before they have to expell it.

Rule 3. Blood transfusion rules apply. Sorry Carry On, but pig blood won't quite suffices. However in an odd twist of fate... Coconut milk will. Who'd have thought?

Rule 4. Vampires produce a chemical that either numbs or produces a sense of pleasure in their victims. It's normally to keep them still and unafraid to donate again, but sometimes biting between vampires is an intimate thing. However always see Rule 3 for that one.

Rule 5. Vampires blood can't clot. Forget all that super human feets you see in movies, they ain't healing fast. This is partly due to the fact that when drinking blood, they may not be able to implement the full function of the blood. Thks usually results in platelets being sacrificed.

Suggestion 1. Most vampires have one... Blood bank? At a time. This continues until A. The vampire dies, B. The human dies or C. The human somehow escapes or comes under another vampire.

Suggestion 2. This is like cheating on your best friend with their sister you just really don't do it.

Suggestion 3. There's a saying amongst vampires of "never trust a vampire that blushes," because that means that they've drunken h o b o i a lot of blood. Vampires still have morals so that's not cool at all.

We're not dealing with charms in this one. Patroclus is smol little vampire that usually survives by drinking the blood of his best friend Briseis. She's usually cool with it with the only intention of supporting her friend. And because he's not attracted to her, the chemical in his fangs numbs her arm so he can drink without issue. That happens monthly so Pat can survive and Briseis isn't permanently an anemiac.

However when Pat moves into a new highschool he catches the attention of one of the more popular kids in the school Achilles after fainting in P.E. (vampires aren't well accustomed to sports requiring rapid blood pumping). Achilles immediately springs into action by carrying him to medical bridal style instead of just waiting for the doctor to turn up. But he was right to do so - Pat fainted because he cut himself and because he can't clot he ended up losing a lot of blood. And because it was because of a nasty blister - no one noticed.

The doctor says he's either going to have to recover quickly and drink blood or he's going to have to have an emergency blood transfusion. Right on cue, Patroclus recovers conciseness apologizing profusely for causing all the fuss and asking what happened. The doctor then explains what happened, and the steps he'll have to take to survive.

And guess what? Achilles has the same blood type!

Now Achilles is hella down to help a cute smol lil' vamp but Pat isn't quite as down. He's all conflicted because A. Achilles only seems to want to help him out of responsibility (quite far from the truth) B. He's worried about the ethics of drinking from a second person when he's already drinking from Briseis and finally C. He's gay and Achilles is cute.

After getting consent from both, the doctor patches up Pat's foot and then leaves to help another kid that just passed out or something- Pat was more focusing on being left alone with this really cute guy.

So when it comes to do the thing Pat suddenly gets really nervous and tries to pull out saying "I'll drink when I get home it's fine!" And Achilles is just sat there like "Dude you just passed out from anemia I wouldn't call that fine." After a little bit of back and forth with Pat towards the end beginning to pass out a little again - Achilles thinks of a plan.

Achilles: Jeez it's like you have small fangs or something!

Patroclus: What? Of course not-!

Achilles: Find then, prove it.

Patroclus: What- n-no-

Achilles: Say aaah...

Patroclus: ?? Aaaaah...

Achilles: *jams his arm into Pat's mouth*

Turns out Pat's fangs were quite long-

Achilles after finding A. Being bitten wasn't as bad as he thought it was and B. Not because he was numbed, decides to semi-adopt Pat into his friendship group. However that afternoon he receives a Snapchat from Briseis. It's just a normal chat - saying "We need to talk. Call me on XXX-XXXX-XXX." Achilles is a tad scared thinking he's about to get the jealous girlfriend talk - but instead something very different happens.

Achilles: Look I'm sorry I forced him he was being stubborn-

Briseis: I know and surprise I'm not mad. Listen bud, you're semi-boyfriend is crying over the ethics of drinking from you because he doesn't think you were willing and you were doing it out of pity. He's also really scared of people knowing he's gay. Mind coming around to cheer him up?

Achilles: Uh- sure- but can you tell him it's fine?

Achilles ends up going to Pat's house were he finds Pat has full on borritoed himself in a blanket on the sofa and his eyes are very red. Achilles and Pat have a heart to heart and Achilles eventually is just sat there like.

"Well shit. I'm attracted to him. Huh. Well. How bad can dating a vampire really be?"
