I wake up feeling a lot better than usual. I'm not really a morning person, so usually when I wake up I feel tired and moody. However, this time I don't.

I remember falling asleep on Achilles' chest, but now we're laid side by side. My face is inches from him, and I find myself thinking that i would like to wake up like this every morning. I quickly suppress the thought, reminding myself that this is just a teenage romance, which, if it even lasts that long, will end when school does.

The peace is shattered by Achilles' door flying open with a bang as it hits the wall. I quickly try to move out of the bed- which results in me landing on the floor- as Achilles' mom rushes down the stairs.

"Achilles!" She yells. He sits up, crying out in surprise, then looks at her with confusion before he notices me on the ground.

"Patroclus, are you okay?" He asks, leaning over to me. I nod as his mom shouts

"Why is he here?" and points accusingly at me.

"I asked him to stay the night." He says. She glares at me, then passes me a phone.

I hesitantly lift it to my ear as she leaves, muttering angrily.

"-even there?" The voice in the other side of phone says.

"Hello?" I say quietly.

"Patroclus?" There's an edge to the voice. I realise it's my dad.

"Yes."

A torrent of yells starts spilling into my ear, and I cringe as Achilles looks at me questioningly.

"Come home this instant!" My father demands.

"What's going on?"

"She's leaving, and we're getting inspected, and it's your fault, you stupid, selfish boy!"

"Huh? Who's leaving?"

"That burdensome girl Briseis, and possibly your useless mother, too!" You idiotic, worthless-"

"What? Why?"

"She was attacked, because you abandoned her!" I hear Briseis quietly protest in the background, but my father ignores her.

I get to my feet and start climbing the stairs, ignoring Achilles' questions.

"I'll be there as soon as possible." I say, hanging up. I leave Achilles' room and hand him the phone, opening the front door.

"Patroclus." Achilles grabs my wrist before I can leave. "What's going on?" He asks me.

"Briseis." I choke out, tears starting to stream down my cheeks. How could I let this happen?

Achilles still looks confused, but he doesn't ask further questions. He hastily tries to wipe away my tears, then he leans forward and gives me a gentle kiss. I lean closer to him, needing comfort.

"Achilles?" His mother's voice rings out from behind him. He pulls away and I see her murderous expression.

"Mom, I can-"

"Leave." She snarls at me.

Worried about Briseis, I do as I'm told. I hear yelling as I run away, then a shout of

"no, don't!" rings out. I stop for a moment, then decide Briseis is more important and keep running.
