《The First Champion | BOTW Link x GN!Reader》Divine Beast Vah Ruta

You wake up to someone shaking you.
"(Y/N). (Y/N), come on. Wake up," you hear Link say. You open your eyes and sit up.
"Is it noon already?" you groan with a grated voice.
"It's past noon. We should head out. I'll be in the market. Come get me when you're ready," Link says as he walks out. You tug on your Champion garb and pin it with the Sheikah Eye. You grab your traveler's sword from the bedside table, along with the shock arrows and steel Lizal bow. You say goodbye to the Zora at the counter and head out.
Nothing seemed to change from when you and Link went to the inn. The skies still lingered with unfriendly, grey clouds. Rain still sprinkled from the sky. You walk over to Mipha's statue and think of the memory you shared with her.
Before you head off to find Link, you investigate a room in the center of the domain with a strange structure inside. A Sheikah Eye glows orange on the front, while the other lights around the base glow blue. You walked over and examine it closer. It is appeared to be made of stone, the same ancient material that the Sheikah Towers are made of. The room is flooded with water with Lotus seeds and lily pads floating on the surface. You walk all around this strange formation and find a sword leaning against the back wall behind the build.
You grab the handle of the two-handed weapon and pull out the blade to reveal a beautiful longsword made of silver. The weight and durability was much greater than your traveler's sword. You drop your sword and replace it with the new weapon you found. It is significantly heavier, but you were built on carrying weight with you all day.
You turn around and walk out of the strange room. You head for the merchant to find Link there. You see him looking at the fish they sell and stare at them with hunger. You see rock salt, ice arrows, violets, and rice also being sold. You walk over to the ice arrows, interested in the design. The tip of the arrow resembles a snowflake with three sharp edges. You touch the blue ice and jump back at how cold it is. You grab a few bundles and take it to the Zora at the counter.
"You would like the ice arrows? That will be--"
"Wait, I would like to get these too." You cut in and set down the whole stock of arrows, including the ones with no effects. The Zora stood with disbelief.
"I can not imagine what you would need with so many arrows," she comments as she takes your rupees. You laugh and this grabs Link's attention. He walks over as you are putting away the arrows in your stolen quiver.
"You ready to head out?" he asks you.
"We should eat first," you suggest. "I can see you are clearly hungry." Link laughs with you as you head out to the edge of the domain. There, you lean on the railing under a small roof and hand Link some breakfast. You eat your meal and gaze off in the distance to Reservoir Lake to where Sidon is waiting. Thoughts trace your mind and pull you into a blissful state of deep thinking. The air permanently smelled of sweet rain. Link finishes eating and taps you on the shoulder, pulling you out of the trance.

"Let's go," he says. You notice his impatience and come to a conclusion in your mind that he must can't stand the thought of making Zora's Domain wait any longer.
You silently follow him to Reservoir Lake and meet Sidon there waiting. Ruta poured down water from the sky with no intention of holding up. It resembled an elephant, a beautiful creature made of stone with red glowing lights.
"My dear sister," Sidon frowns, not noticing you two approaching. Once your footsteps grew loud enough, he turns around and sees you and Link approaching.
"Glad to see you are ready to go, champions!" he enthusiastically says. You feel a twinge of sadness thinking that Sidon's optimistic act was all a cover. "Are you ready for this? Do you have the Zora armor? And the shock arrows?"
Link nods and turns to you, who nods as well.
"We're ready," you say.
"Wonderful!" he grins. "You two never cease to amaze! Now then, let us go and appease that Divine Beast as one! Here we go!" he yells as he dives into the water. He swims for a bit and then stops and waits for you and Link.
Then, a terribly timed memory surfaces.
You can't swim.
You silently panicked standing behind Link, you not knowing what to do.
"Gaze upon the Divine Beast's Back!" Sidon yells from the water. "Do you see those glowing pink orbs? You will need to shoot each one of them with a shock arrow! Link, with your Zora armor, you now have the ability to ascend waterfalls! So, I shall take you right up to the side of the Divine Beast. From there, you shall swim up and take aim!"
Link's face falls. "I have never been skilled with a bow. I know that (Y/N) though is very talented," Link says. You fluster slightly at the flattery.
"But you're-- but you're the one with the armor. How do I get up there?" you slightly stammer.
"Grab ahold of my shoulders," he says. Your stomach turns over at the thought of being close to him.
"Shooting an arrow in midair..." you mutter. "I'm going to be putting my all into this, so I'm going to trust you to get me out of the water."
"Alright. I've got you," he nods in understanding.
"Okay," you say with hesitation. 'This is really happening.'
"You can do it, (Y/N)! I believe in you!" Sidon grins. "Now hurry and get on my back." Link jumps right in the water and climbs on with help from the prince. You climb on after him, nearly waist deep in the water. It was cold. Freezing cold. Without warning, Sidon stars swimming towards the beast. You nearly fall backwards, but hold onto Link's shoulders in time.
"Ha! I am unstoppable in the water!" Sidon cockily claims. The Divine Beast stomps in the water, rippling the lake, and lets out another tremendous trumpet. "Ruta is responding to our presence! I'll move away and wait for an opening before we approach!" He dashes away from Ruta and then loops around as he spots an opening. "I'll keep going at full speed! It is up to you to ward off Ruta's attacks!"

As Sidon dashes past Ruta's sides, ice blocks made of some sort of ancient and mysterious power. One by one, they launch toward you. Without even blinking, Link takes out his Sheikah Slate and selects the Crynonis rune. As the ice blocks hurtle closer, he uses the rune and magically smashes the ice from afar. You watch, amazed at the technology. Once the three blocks are broken, Sidon swerves his path to the Beast's never-ending downpour of water.
"Hold on tight, (Y/N)!" Link yells. You tighten your grip as Sidon flips you and Link in the air. You hold your breath and close your eyes as a barrage of water pushes against your face. In just a matter of seconds, Link leaps into the air with you still holding on. You push up with your feet and jump into the air.
You take aim with a shock arrow. You blink out the water from your vision and then close one eye and hit the pink orb in one shot. You manage to see it glow an electric green before you fall into the water again.
Panic floods your mind as the water floods your lungs. You tried to come up for air, but you didn't know how to force yourself afloat. A hand grabs your struggling arms and pulls you upon Sidon's back. You cough out the water and gasp in cold air. You shake your hair out of your face and grab onto Link's shoulders again.
"Are you okay?" Link asks you in a worried tone.
"I'm fine," You croak and shake your hair out of your face again. You see the spout of water once generated by the pink orb, dies down and stops its flow.
More ice blocks materialize in front of Ruta. One by one again, they launch towards you. Link uses the Crynonis rune and breaks the ice again. Sidon swerves back for an attack at the second orb. You grip Link's shoulders as Sidon leaps both of you into the water. You force your eyes shut as firm as they can. Before you know it, cold air surrounds you as Link jumps into the air once more. You leap higher and shake off the water from your eyesight faster. You carefully take aim and shoot the second orb. It shines electric green and you plunge into the water again.
You kick your legs and manage to break through the surface. Link grabs your hand and pulls you up again. Sidon kicks off and another set of ice generates, this time with fatal spikes around a sphere. Link shows no fear and readies the Sheikah Slate. The ice hurtles in the air and begins to follow Sidon's trail. You duck to Link can get a clear shot. You hear the ice burst into useless shards as the Crynonis rune takes its impact.
Sidon then rushes to another waterfall and boosts both you and Link into the water. You grip tight and Link swims through the water. He springs into the air and you jump off. You shake off the water again and shoot the third orb. Its green glow fills you with determination to get the last orb. When you dive into the water, you get caught on the rapids of the waterfall before it stopped its flow. You get pushed down deeper into the water. You yell under the pressure and feel your ears pop. You open your eyes and see Link swimming to get you. He pulls you out and you gasp for air.
"Are you two alright?" Sidon asks concerned.
"I'm--" You are cut off by another coughing fit. "I'm fine, I'm fine. Keep going." You grab onto Link's shoulders as another set of ice bursts out from thin air, generated by Ruta. A combination of both ice blocks and spikes hurtle toward you. Link flawlessly smashes all of them, giving Sidon a straight path to the final orb. He launches you and Link up. You hold your breath and then ready yourself for the last attack. Link leaps into the air, allowing you to make the final blow. You take aim and shoot the last orb. Ruta trumpets in vanquish.
You fall and Link pulls you back to Sidon again.
"Wow! That was astounding! An absolute thrill!" Sidon yells over the call from Ruta. Without warning, the trunk of Ruta falls limp into the Lake, sending a wave of water splashing around it. Rain stops falling from the sky above and all becomes quiet at last.
"The water spouting from Ruta has slowed down!" Sidon cheers. Ruta shifts and then slowly rises. A platform folds down from the side, waiting for an opponent to take on the challenge that awaits inside. "Ruta is floating higher now! You wanted to venture inside it, right?!" Sidon calls out over the mechanical shifting coming from the Beast. "I'll bring you closer! We're counting on you, heroes. Do good work in there!"
Sidon swims to the platform, slower now. "Well Link, (Y/N), here we are. Looks like this is where the real work starts. Best of luck," he smiles. "Nice job cutting off the water flow from this Divine Beast, (Y/N)," he compliments you. He arrives at the platform where you and Link jump off and turn around to the prince.
"Show the enemy no fear," he encourages you and Link with a fist. "I'll see you back at Zora's Domain. Farewell." A sudden quake rocks the platform. It then rises and isolates you from Sidon. Ruta stands on its feet and takes you higher in the air.
"Let's finish the job," you say to Link. He nods and you both turn to the entrance to face Ruta.
