《Sirens in Seattle》{chapter 16}

*few days before*

"Why are we you like this?" I screamed at my dad through the phone.

"Your only failing yourself. Now break up with him or I'll cut you off Amelia." My dad argued back at me.

"Fine. You want to be this way. Then so be it." I said coldly to him before hanging up my phone officially over my father. I work hard, and I know how to handle my own at this point.

--------------------------

"You really needed to bring this?" I scolded Phoenix looking through one of his boxes and finding a single red sock with the words ho-ho-ho printed on it over and over again.

"Well no, but I couldn't just throw it away." He argued.

"Well I can." I mumbled while tossing it into a trash bag.

After Phoenix officially apologized to me, we went to eat where he asked this time, if he could officially move in and I agreed. But it wasn't the way we at first thought it to be.

After my argument with my dad, I agreed with myself to move out the apartment he was paying for. I could no longer deal with the power card he was playing. So Phoenix and I quickly searched for an apartment together we could both move into, leaving our old ones behind us.

I mean, I wasn't going to receive money like I used to, but a transaction came through from my mom's account, letting me know she was still here to support me.

The apartment we found was semi close to down town easy for him to get to work and easy for me to get to school. The view was also really nice, being able to see the skyline of Seattle really was a gift.

This was my first time ever having a roommate that wasn't a family member and I couldn't help but be excited for the new milestone I was passing personally and the milestone our relationship was passing.

I was definitely willing to put our previous argument behind us.

"You have so much stuff!" Phoenix complained from the bathroom where he was pulling out my straightener , my curling iron, my curling wand and some type of device that was supposed to give me beach waves.

He was wearing nothing but dark grey sweats and some brown loafer type slippers. His upper half was bare showing off his scattered tattoos and his hair was wild looking like he just woke up from hibernation, which he kinda just did since he opted for a nap earlier instead of unpacking.

"Don't touch it, you'll break it." I growled at him taking it out of his hands and placing it neatly back in the drawer like I had them arranged.

He rolled his eyes at me before picking me up and throwing me over his shoulder making me squeal in surprise.

"Phoenix! We need to unpack." I groaned at him and he of course ignored me.

He carried me over to our bed , and dropped me causing me bounce a few times.

He lowered himself next to me and laid on his side facing me.

"This is our little home" he smiled at me.

"Our little home." I repeated trying to make it seem like it was real.

"Want to talk about your argument with your dad?" He asked quietly while playing with one of my waves.

"No." I replied coldly, getting highly upset even at the mention of him. "I have an interview at the pizza place downtown." I said trying to change the subject.

"Thats good but are you sure? I think I make enough to support us until you finish school." He said quietly , taking me off guard . We haven't really talked about a future, but at the mention of it , it makes me excited for a future with Phoenix.

"No, I don't want to cost you hella money." I argued with him tapping his nose playfully.

He grabbed my sides and rolled us so I was on top of him giggling.

I leaned down and pecked his lips before throwing my legs off of the side of the bed and stood up.

"Now finish unpacking Officer Adams." I said smacking his exposed stomach lightly.

"Or what?" He challenged me raising an eyebrow.

"Orrrr" I though "I'll have to arrest you." I said raising an eyebrow back at him.

"What's so bad about that?" He asked making me slap him again.

"Go unpack!" I said once again before heading back to our closet to arrange his and my clothes.

I smirked to myself when I heard him groan and head back to organizing our shampoos and hair products.

I was separating our clothes by color when Phoenix walked in carrying a small safe.

"What's in there, your life savings?" I joked while putting a pair of his pants on the rack.

He rolled his eyes at me and put it on the highest shelf possible.

"It's my gun." He simply said getting ready to turn around and head back to the bathroom.

"What?!" I squeaked at him. "No! Absolutely not, nope get it out of here."

"Mia its for my job, remember, I'm a cop." He chuckled at me , his voice dripping in sarcasm.

I crossed my arms looking at it high up on its shelf, still not liking it. I was never one who liked guns or really ever wanted one near me. They are very powerful weapons that can take you off of the face of the earth in seconds if it falls into evil hands.

"It will never leave its case, when I go to work I'll take it, and as soon as I come home I'll put it up, you'll never see it." He said convincingly, realizing I wasn't budging.

I stayed silent , still not liking the idea of a live firearm in my house, that someone could possibly get ahold of if they were to break in.

Overall they just gave me the creeps, I've never even been close to one, let alone one be in my house.

Phoenix came up from behind me and wrapped his arms around my waist pressing his warm body against my back.

"It's ok, don't worry about it, I won't let anything hurt you." He muttered in my ear, guessing why I didn't want the gun in the house.

I sighed patting his hand for him to let go.

"I better never see it." I told him and he raised his hands up innocently.

Out of sight out of mind, and it wasn't like he just had it to had it, it was for his job I told myself, loosening up a little.

"Yes M'am" he replied.

------

"Tell us about yourself." The man , who I think was names Aaron asked me.

"Well." I began "I'm currently in school studying medicine, I've never got a grade lower than A in my life and I'm really helpful with an open mind."

He nodded and scribbled on his clip board.

"Do you think you'd be able to handle rush hours?" He asked.

"Absolutely yes!" I nodded my head as enthusiastically as possible.

"Ok, I honestly think you will excel at this workplace so I would like to offer you the jo-" he said but I flew out my seat.

"Thank you!" I cut him off smiling so hard I felt my cheeks burning. "I'll never be late, and you'll never hear a complaint for me!"

He chuckled slightly but nodded. "Be sure to check your email regularly, that's where your schedule will be."

As soon as I walked out of the interview room I dug my phone out of my messy purse and called Phoenix immediately.

"Yes?" He asked as soon as he answered.

"I got the job!" I squealed to him over the phone.

"Congratulations I knew you would. I already got you a congratulatory gift." He said.

"Get back to work, I'll see you at home." I ended the call after a little bit of chat.

Things were picking up and I would hope they stay up.
