《The Cop Who Loves Me...A Teenager》chapter 21

We've been in this van for days, only getting out for bathroom breaks...and I can't even go to the bathroom by myself! One of those crazy gang guys has to come in with me so I don't escape. Really? I girl needs some privacy to do her 'business'.
The whole time riding in the van, Brody hasn't let go of me, and I was kind of glad. I felt safe in his arms and I remember my dream. My mother, father, sister, and Trent told me Brody would protect me and I trust them. After all, my mother hinted that I was going to have a baby...and look at me now...I'm pregnant with a rapists baby! I know...not the ideal father for a baby, but that man will never be in my baby's life. And I don't feel weird about having a rapist's baby...Sure, some women would get rid of it or put it up for adoption, but why kill a life before it begins? And I wouldn't feel right about giving it up.
"Autumn?" I heard Brody say my name, interrupting my thoughts.
"Yeah?" I answered.
"I'm sorry." He said for the millionth time.
"I know you are." I said looking into his eyes. "You don't have to keep saying it."
"But I have a lot to be sorry for. I never wanted to put you in this position. Maybe if we never met, you'd be off somewhere better instead of here with me...a lying cop who used to be part of a gang and fell in love with a teenager. I'm a messed up person, Autumn. I was selfish not to let you go. But I promise I'm gonna get us out of here." He said softly in my ear, so the others couldn't hear. His eyes became glossy, with tears threatening to fall. "Can you ever forgive me?"

I looked deep into his sea blue eyes. "Maybe the question is, can you ever forgive yourself. I've already forgiven you Brody. Now you have to forgive yourself in order to feel better and believe me when I say I forgive you. So Brody, can you ever forgive yourself?"
A single tear rolled down his face. He gave me a small smile as I wiped the tear away. "Yeah. I think I can."
"Thinking isn't good enough, Brody. You have to know."
He put his hand gently on my cheek while still staring into my eyes. "I know I can forgive myself. i love you so much Autumn."
"I love you too." I replied sweetly. And then he placed his lips softly against mine. "Don't ever leave me."
"I won't...not for anything in the world."
Then I felt a sharp pain in my lower abdomen. I cried out in pain, clutching my stomach. Everyone's attention turned towards me. "Autumn? What's wrong?" Brody asked worriedly.
"My stomach. It hurts so badly." I said in a small, pained voice.
"How bad does it hurt Autumn?" Zac questioned with a scared expression.
"A lot." I replied, starting to cry form the pain.
"What's wrong with her?" Squid asked rudely.
"I- I don't know. Her stomach hurts." Brody answered.
"Stomach ache?" Monkey asked.
I cried even more, not being able to take the pain. "The baby! Something's wrong with the baby." I said in realization.
"Squid, we have to take her to the hospital!" Brody exclaimed.
"Snake ordered us not to stop for anything except for food and bathroom breaks." Bull dog replied.
"CAN'T YOU SEE THIS IS AN EMERGENCY!!!" Brody screamed.
"SHE'LL GET THROUGH IT!!" Bull Dog fought back.

Brody looked down and his eyes widened. "Oh my god."
"What?!" Everyone asked.
"Autumn, your bleeding." Brody stated. I looked down and he was right. I started to cry even more...I can't take the sight of blood. "TAKE HER TO A HOSPITAL NOW!" Brody commanded.
"Oh shit!! Alright alright! Monkey! Use the GPS to find the nearest hospital! Bull Dog, call snake and tell him we need to go to the hospital." Squid commanded. They did as they were told. Monkey found the nearest hospital...15 minutes away from where we were. He set the GPS to give us directions. Bull Dog got Snake on the phone and put it on speaker.
"Snake, there's a problem." Bull dog said.
"What could possibly be the problem?"
"Something's wrong with the girl. She needs to go to the hospital."
"Why?"
"She says something's wrong with the baby and she's bleeding all over the place man. It's grossing me out."
"Alright. I'll meet you there. I stopped at a hotel a while back to get some sleep. I should be there in an hour. Oh, and when you get to the hospital, give the girl a fake name. Stacy. Stacy Walden. Got it?"
"Got it boss." Dull Dog replied. And hung up.
Brody held me tightly rubbing my back. "It's gonna be alright Autumn. Your gonna be fine. you'll get through this." He kept repeating.

How the Stars Turned Red
Announcement as of 05 July 2022: I've been diagnosed with some pretty severe nerve damage in my left arm, rendering me unable to write effectively, and as such this story is on hold until it is healed. I am so sorry, and I promise to get back to writing as soon as possible. In the latter half of the 3rd millennium CE, humanity has spread across the stars, inhabiting close to five-hundred worlds across the Orion Arm. Earth has become irrelevant, a historical has-been. The galactic map is dominated by two mega-factions, both controlling vast amounts of territories either through direct control or through their many allies and treaty signatories. The Kingdom of Aurora is the political and economic hegemon despite consisting of only seven inhabited worlds; their strength lies in the Royal Union, an interstellar commonwealth composing an internal market and a common defence pact. These member worlds are myriad and varied, culturally as well as politically, but they all flock to the same banner. The Independent Systems Alliance, spearheaded by the Republic of Elysium, is the ascendant challenger to Aurora and the Union. A pseudo-federal multi-system polity, the Alliance economy and military is rapidly expanding, but at the cost of effective democratic and meritocratic involvement by its people. However, with two superpowers as this, chafing along a common border, and with a constant clamour of polemics, both sides have become convinced the other is constantly preparing for war and are on the look-out for any perceived weakness in their opponent. The predictable result is a huge arms race and a cold war spreading across the stars, requiring only a spark to set the galaxy aflame. Drawn into this game of high stakes are ordinary men and women, their peaceful lives, hopes, and aspirations swallowed by the vortex of conflict and distrust. This is their story. Cover art by Rhodex Designs (FB). Hope you like long chapters and adjectives. Note: English is not my first language. Another story set in the same universe, written by a good friend
