I'd spend ten thousand hours and ten thousand more

Oh, if that's what it takes to learn that sweet heart of yours

And I might never get there, but I'm gonna try

If it's ten thousand hours or the rest of my life

I'm gonna love you

Thirty.

Eddy's turning thirty. It feels like he graduated just a week ago. He looks the same, speaks the same, acts the sam- no more mature and a bit more naughty around Mary. Naughty in the adult way of course. So, thirty, ay? It wouldn't be so bad if he took a week off and travelled somewhere far to celebrate, right? What could possibly go wrong?

Yeah, either the plan could crash, or he could break a foot, maybe Mary would somehow become pregnant, or there could be a volcanic eruption, or maybe the Earth would break into two halves due to an earthquake and humans would go extinct. "You are staring off into space again, baby." Mary's voice broke off Eddy's extremely destructive chain of thoughts. "Oh sorry," Mary smiled, now a fully experienced surgeon.

Somethings never change. That's right, Mary still sat on Eddy's lap watching an extremely boring movie, just like a decade ago. A decade, huh? And, well, Eddy's love for bubble tea didn't drop a bit. If Mary wasn't in the way, he would definitely marry bubble tea. A smile glinted on Eddy's face. He had been thinking on popping the question lately, but didn't want to take things too quick. And also because he didn't have the perfect ring, yet. Mary and him had had this conversation, about marriage, and Mary had made it very clear that she would marry Eddy, and Eddy only. But they were still young, you don't exactly age a lot, its just... thirty. Young but old enough to marry the love of your life. 'Does that even make sense?' Eddy's own mind asked him. "Babe, did you pack your bags?" Mary asked paying more attention to Eddy's pimples and earlobes than the loud T.V. in front of them. Eddy froze up a bit, symbol for showing he forgot. "Umm..." He hummed lightly, "Babe the trip's in 3 days," Mary said. "We still have time," Eddy said. "Babe, we are going to Europe, we need to plan things, plus..." Mary trailed off, fiddling with with Eddy's sweatshirt. Eddy turned his head, "Hmm, go on?" Eddy asked, "Plus, I need some things, um, that didn't fit in, um..." Eddy chuckled, "They didn't fit in your bag, did they?" Mary blushed and looked down at her feet, nodded ever so slowly. Eddy laughed, his voice low, "Let's pack now then?" His fingers slowly laced itself in Mary's hair, and pulled her face up and close, forcing their eye contact. But Mary's eyelids fluttered close once they were millimeters apart, breath inter-mingling. Eddy knew how Mary's lips tasted, but every time they touched his rough ones, it always felt like the first time. The spark never died. The quiet shiver down his spine never faded. It was, no arguments, love in its purest form. Fast and quick kisses shared during passionate nights were there, but the slow ones, which never turned heated, just a long and loving kiss was absolute bliss. They always sent the both to heaven together for a couple of seconds.

The packing took long. Very long. Eddy didn't even know his closet could hold so many clothes and he didn't even know half of them existed in the first place. And needless to say, Mary was very satisfied with the amount of over-sized clothes she could discreetly steal. Mary stuffed two huge jackets in Eddy's suitcase and called it a night. Korean barbecue was the perfect dinner for them. The huge blanket was waiting for the two on the couch, and was it mentioned, they bought a house together? It wasn't just a house, it was home. Their home.

The trip to Europe was in 3 days and Eddy, Mary, Soo-Lin and Rob, were all equally excited. This would be the first international trip with the whole gang. But something was always crawling into Eddy's mindspace. When he thought things could go wrong, he didn't think it would mean this. He had forgotten about him, didn't even bother about him or anything but... Eddy was back on social media, and somehow he stumbled across a post that set his mood off. He suddenly remembered Brett lived in Europe too. It said Brett was in the same city as the one they were traveling to, during the same week. Yes, there were very less chances that they would actually meet there, but the chances were there nonetheless. But if Eddy planned his tourism spots correctly, he would successfully not stumble upon him and ruin his birthday-week mood. Yeah, that was correct. He could do that, atleast. Ignore Brett's existence.

Thank god it was a Saturday the day after, and that meant Eddy and Mary could laze around till midnight watching horrible shows and laughing together. Cuddling, ah, the best thing. It was the thing that helped him stop over-thinking about Brett and accidentally meeting him on their trip. Well, he could just ask Rob to punch him in the bal- okay maybe not.

The clock ticked past two, Mary was asleep in Eddy's arms, who too, was out like a night-light. The T.V. was turned off and the room was dark. Eddy's mind was empty now, only thing that mattered the most was the woman in his arms. His hands momentarily tightened around Mary's waist, pulling her close to his chest. Their hearts were beating together, creating music of their own.

Thirty, so young. And so happy.
