《The Nerd who cried Bad Boy》twenty one

Marcus gripped my arm tightly and I held his tightly too. I was hanging of a Ferris wheel because I had fell over my seat while trying to get off the seat as soon as possible.
Tears streamed down my face as I stared at Marcus' face. "I got you," he said and I didn't say anything. My body was dangling off of the Ferris wheel and I was scared as hell. I was very thankful that Marcus had caught me.
He pulled me up and placed me on the seat. I was panting, staring down. I felt Marcus' gaze on me. "I'm sorry, Baby cheeks," he apologised. It started to drizzle which quickly turned into rain.
"I am sick of this," I shouted over the hard rain. Marcus' eyes widened as he had heard what I said.
"What?"
My throat burned as I wanted to burst out crying. I shook my head as I covered my head with my hood and I got ready to leave.
"Baby ch--"
"Will you stop calling me that!" I snapped. "It's annoying and I hate it. Just leave me alone."
"B- Alyssa, I can explain," he said and I paused.
I looked at him,"You're with Bree, there's nothing to talk about."
"No, I'm not with her--"
"Marcus, you were planning on sleeping with her today even after I told you how much I hated her." I had stammered a little when saying that. Marcus kept quiet, just staring at me as the rain wet us. Marcus' hair was damp and covered his forehead and almost his eyes. "Do you know how much that hurts?" I uttered, my voice wavered.
I smiled slightly,"After all we've been through, you do this to me," I whispered and shook my head. "You know what, it's over. We don't need to pretend anymore."
"Alyssa, please. She's not my girlfriend," he said while I climbed down the Ferris wheel. I ignored his calls to talk to me. My eyes and throat started to burn as I cried, I even almost slipped while climbing down. I landed on the ground and immediately started walking. I heard Marcus land on the ground and run after me.
He appeared in front of me, I tried to avoid eye contact with him and walk away but he held my wrist tightly. "What?" I hollered at him, fianlly looking at him.
"Baby cheeks, Bree and I aren't together, I don't even like the girl."
"Oh, then why did she send you pictures of her half naked? Expecting you to meet her in twenty minutes," I said. "Why did I expect you to be loyal to me anyway? You're Marcus Sawyer, you're the cool gangleader that everyone adores. You are the guy that dates a girl only for sex then you break up with them the next day. Little do you know that some girls that you've dumped after having sex with them or not end up crying or being depressed because of you. Fortunately, I'm not one of those girls because I'm deciding that whatever we have between us is over. Go to Bree, I could care less." I pushed past him and started walking away.

The worst part was from here, it would take me hours to walk back home in this rain. But since I was so angry at Marcus, walking home for me wouldn't be a problem.
"Alyssa!" he called after me. "Alyssa!"
I started running, pushing myself to run faster and out of these woods. I finally made it to the clear and I noticed it was raining harder than usual. I made it to the road and started speed walking.
Marcus had jogged after me and caught up. Walking behind me, he spoke,"Alyssa, I told you why I used to use girls. I was going through a moment."
"Mm," I answered still walking away.
"Alyssa please don't leave me. Alyssa, I wasn't planning on going to Bree. I promise," he pleaded, still following me.
I stopped because a part of me told me to. I don't know why but I did. Marcus stood in front of me and sighed,"You don't know how upset I become everytime you remind me that this relationship is fake. Though you said it yourself that this is fake, but you feel something hurting inside you when I'm around other girls. That's how I feel when you're around other boys like Trick. Alyssa, you won't understand how I'll feel when you end us, even if it's fake, it will hurt for real."
I blinked hard, the raining falling onto my eyes.
Marcus sighed,"You changed me. I used to be so depressed ever since my father was shot right in front of me. I wasn't always this 'bad boy' everyone thought I was. When my dad was alive, I was this normal boy that befriended everyone because I loved life," Marcus spoke over the rain. He ran his fingers through his wet hair and combed it back. "After my father's death, I blocked out everyone, attended school two days a week, cut myself a few times and even held a gun to my head once. I loved my father that much, like he was the only person on Earth. I joined a gang, dealt with drugs and became a gangleader after I had a physical fight with the former gangleader and won. I played with girls, it first went to dating then sex. Girls started coming after they heard from the girl who took my virginity that I was 'the best', and that's how I started using girls. I felt like nothing was going to fix me, the only person I cared about was my mother. I felt like I was only alive just to love and protect my mother," Marcus said and looked at me. "Until I met you."
My breath hitched and I ran my fingers through my hair. I blinked rapidly because of the rain pouring down my face.
"When I bumped into you, I instantly felt this connection and that's why I probably shared my Oreo with you. Trust me when I say this, Baby cheeks, I don't share my Oreos with anyone. Not even my mother, she has to buy her own but steals them from me anyway," Marcus said with an eye roll.

I sighed, trying to ignore my beating heart,"I would've broken up with you, Marcus, but I told you that nothing will ever separate us. We'll stay together because you're important to me. You saved me and protected me from a life of misery. Everyone hated me while you were the first to treat me like a normal person. I'm sorry for over-reacting. I know this is fake but... the feelings are real," I said, meeting eyes with him.
Marcus wrapped his around my waist and pulled me in for a hug as I wrapped my arms around his neck. "Please don't ever say that you're going to leave me," Marcus whispered.
"I won't."
Aaliyah peaked her head through the gap of the open door and smiled at me. I chuckled, trying to act like I wasn't frightened at all. She walked in the room and closed the door behind her. The coat she was wearing was soaking wet from the rain, she took it off and hung it by the window.
"What are you watching there?" Aaliyah asked as she tied her hair into a ponytail.
"Uhm, I'm watching a Spanish-teaching video." I answered and tried to remember a phrase I had just learnt five minutes ago. I suddenly remembered and then I looked at Aaliyah,"Amor a primera vista."
"Okay, I'm going to assume you said I'm beautiful," Aaliyah said with a blank face and sat down on the edge of the bed.
"No I said 'Love at first sight'," I corrected and shut my laptop.
"So, why did you call me here? I was busy with homework you know?" Aaliyah said and I gasped.
"I'm sorry, I'll hel--"
"Just kidding. I don't do homework, but I somehow pass with high grades," Aaliyah said and winked at me.
"Oh, phew!" I wiped an imaginary sweat of my forehead. "Don't joke about school work."
Aaliyah shook her head smiling,"Are you hungry?" Aaliyah asked me.
I nodded,"All I ate today was Oreos."
Aaliyah laughed and stood up,"Well, since I'm hungry, let's go eat out."
"Where?" I asked as I stood up anyway.
"I don't know. McDonald's," Aaliyah answered and took her car keys from her coat. She took her folded coat and waited for me to finish tying my laces together. I got up and stretched.
"Uhm," Aaliyah said and I furrowed my eyebrows. Aaliyah smiled and pointed to my hoodie which was written in bold 'Uhm'. I chuckled and we left the room.
"Hey my sister is upstairs sleeping and I don't want to wake her up," I whispered to Aaliyah. My mother left to visit her bestfriend for today, our babysitter was coming in a few minutes and I didn't want him to arrive with me here.
Aaliyah nodded and we both walked quietly to the door. I smiled victoriously when I held the door handle.
"Hey Alyssa, where are you going?" Alyson asked, her voice full of energy. She sprinted downstairs in a second. "Who's your pretty friend?"
"My name's Aaliyah," she answered. Alyson nodded and looked at me,"You guys made such a noise walking downstairs."
The bell rang and I rolled my eyes. I opened the door and groaned,"Hey Monty."
"Hey Alyssa," he greeted with a slight smile.
"Yeah, nice to see you too," I replied with an eye roll and Aaliyah narrowed her eyes at me.
"Don't be rude," Aaliyah said and faced Monty,"My name is Aaliyah, nice to meet you."
Monty smiled at her and glanced at his watch and walked inside the house,"Be back in an hour," he told us and we nodded.
I walked out with Aaliyah and Alyson who still came with after I told her to stay home. We got in the car and Aaliyah drove us to McDonald's and Alyson happily clapped her hands. "Everytime you eat McDonald's, you get diarrhea," I stated and Aaliyah chuckled.
"It only happened twice," she said. I shook my head and we got out the car. We entered McDonald's and took a seat near the window. Aaliyah ordered a chilli burger, large fries and a medium Coke. I ordered a medium burger for Alyson and apple juice.
I bought myself large fries and we sat at a table. "So Aaliyah, I'm planning on doing something that no one has ever thought of doing," I said.
"Mm, yeah?" Aaliyah said.
"And it has something to do with Bree," I completed and I had gotten full attention of Aaliyah.
Her eyes widened and her smile spread across her face,"By the tone of your voice, I can tell it's going to be something bad." Aaliyah rubbed her hands together. Alyson mimicked Aaliyah's actions and I stared at them weirdly.
"I'm sick of that little witch ruining my life, popular or not, she still manages to get through me. But she's going to pay," I said.
"What drove you to the edge? Because Bree was an annoying little prick ever since I met here," Aaliyah said and leaned back at her seat.
"Well, I got in trouble with my mom and Marcus and I had a fight recently."
Alyson and Aaliyah gasped,"What? Are you guys--"
"No we're fine. We worked things out," I said. "We'll always be together."
Aaliayh awed and said,"True love."
I snorted.
The waitress placed our orders in front of us.
"Thank you," Aaliyah and I said simultaneously. She nodded and left. Aaliyah started eating her burger. "So what do you have in mind regarding Bree?" she asked, her mouth full of food.
I took out a two black bags and put them beside the table. "One bag has black clothes and the other has rotten eggs, paint and flour," I said, grinning.
Aaliyah smiled too.
"We are going to prank Bree Keene."

Tesla Stone and the World of Smoke and Mirrors
