《Apollo and Daphne (Modernized)》In the Beginning...

I just wanted to say that this is my second story on wattpad. I don't even know if you'll like this or not but if you do, I just want to say thankies :D

The idea came to me while watching the Percy Jackson movie and searching for the origin of my name which is Daphne (I know, its such a coincidence!)

When I was reading about the story of these two, my two young cousins who are eight and nine loved the story and asked what would happen if Eros(Cupid) took back the curse.

Then I decided that I wanted to write the story for my cousins.

So please, do enjoy.

Apollo the great. God of the Sun and Music. He is one of the most important and diverse of the Olympian Deities. He has been variously recognized as a god of light and the sun, truth and prophecy, medicine, healing, plague, music, poetry, arts, archery, and more. He is the son of Zeus and Leto. He also has a twin sister named Artemis.

When he was only four days old, he killed the chthonic dragon Phython, which lived in Delphi beside the Castalian Spring.

You may think that this God is everything a woman can want, but no. I don't want him, but he wants me.

I am Daphne. Daughter of Peneus and Creusa of Thessaly. I am only a nymph. You may wonder why a God like Apollo would want someone like me, but the truth is, he is cursed.

Cursed to love me forever. To want me forever by the God of Love, Eros. He cursed Apollo because he was playing with his arrows. He wanted to teach Apollo a lesson, to learn to never mess with his stuff. But he didn't know what would happen to me.

He chased me until I couldn't take it anymore. I prayed to my father for help. To take me away from him. He helped me by turning me into a Laurel Tree. A laurel tree that was very sacred to Apollo.

He took great care for me as I watched him love other woman. He had an affair with a human princess named Leucothea, daughter of Orchamus and sister of Clytia. Leucothea also loved him in return. He would always enter her chambers, disguising himself as her mother. But Clytia also loved Apollo, out of jealousy, she told their father about what Leucothea had with Apollo. Orchamus got angry and ordered Leucothea to be burried alive. Apollo turned Clytia into a incense plant, a sunflower, which follows the sun everyday.

Castalia was also another nymph that Apollo also loved but didn't love him in return.

By Cyrene, Apollo had a son named Aristaeus, who became the patron god of cattle, fruit trees, hunting, husbandry and bee-keeping. He was also a culture-heroand taught humanity dairy skills, the use of nets and traps in hunting, and how to cultivate olives.

With Hecuba, wife of King Priam of Troy, Apollo had a son named Troilus. An oracle prophesied that Troy would not be defeated as long as Troilus reached the age of twenty alive. He was ambushed and killed by Achilles.

There were many more woman that Apollo loved, but he didn't love them like the way he loved me. He also had many sons, but he would never choose them over me. He loved me. And only me.

I have lost track of time. I have forgotten how long I had been a tree. I had forgotten what it was like to walk, to run, and to talk. I also missed the way I used to touch things. I wanted all of those back.
